I have a booth in an antique mall where I sell my upcycled treasures. Some things sell like hotcakes, and some things sell like three day-old stale bread. Today’s thrifty makeover is one of those pieces of stale bread. Welcome, Friends, to March Madness Thrifty Makeover #18!
It’s a piece my Mom painted a few years ago for a craft market, but didn’t sell. I stuck it in my booth along with a few other pieces she had left to help clear out her attic. Everything sold quickly except for this little Frenchy table:
I decided to bring it home and give it a quick facelift.
While I had the paint already out for my $5 Thrift Store Lamps, I gave the top of this little table a refresh:
Funny how that simple change completely altered the feel of this table.
I also changed out the hardware for this chippy one that’s been rolling around in my hardware bin for a while…
This Behr’s Gray Morning with a little white added, made into chalk paint.
I kept the drawer as is. I like the black against the blue…
Aside from dry time, this only took about 15 minutes! Now I’ll put it back in my booth and see how it goes.
I’ll be back tomorrow sharing what I did with this set of thrift store containers:
UPDATE: See what I did with them HERE now!

The blue top on the table does change the appearance quite a bit. More of a coastal flair. But, I must say, sorry that I never made it to your shop because the way your mom painted it, well I really liked it. Maybe your location attracts customers with a style bent towards coastal. It really is a pretty table. Thanks Christy!
Christy K. James says
I’m really suprised it hasn’t sold…I liked it as well! I do live in a coastal town though so I’m hoping maybe now it will sell. ☺️

Can’t believe it made that much difference. I can hardly wait to see tomorrow’s remake.
I would use those to hold quilting squares. Would you include the dimensions when you post please.
Ok, this is your fault. I found two pieces at a thrift store that I have a vision for it’s use in my sewing room. They have already been in my car for a week, I will get this done by May.
Christy K. James says
I know I think it really did too! The bigger of the two boxes would probably be perfect for quilting squares…its 5″X5 1/2″. Ha ha get those pieces out of your car lol! Seriously though I do that too until I have to make room for other stuff! XO

Bet it will sell right away. I have a friend that would love it, her bed and bath has the beachy theme.
Christy K. James says
I hope so…it’s a great size for a bathroom!
Jane says
Much better! I really don’t like all the French stuff. But the beachy feel is wonderful, if it’s not overdone. This looks great.
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Jane! Hoping it sells now! ????

Thanks, Girl! It’s more our style now lol. 🙂

Isn’t it funny how things you think will fly out the door sit. I know the feeling. But both versions look good. I expect it will sell. The beachy look is popluar and the new look is cute.
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Debra! I guess the right buyer has to come along for specific pieces like the French table. We live in a coastal town so I’m hoping the blue will appeal to more buyers. 🙂
