Are you in the mood for some awesome furniture makeovers? I’ve collected over 20 of my thriftiest furniture makeovers all in one place! I love being able to take something that is beat up or dated and give it a fresh new start.
I’ll start with one of my all time favorite transformations.
Many of you have seen these chairs a few times, but if you are new around here (welcome!), these are a can’t-miss. They started out so sad and were actually painted red, but for $55 each at an estate sale, they were worth the work:
French Provincial Chair Makeover
This next piece was a church flea market find. It was a real score for $15!
I was on the hunt for a table for my youngest for the longest time. This Facebook Yard Sale table was perfect…after its coastal redo:
Coastal-Inspired Kid’s Table Makeover
This next makeover gave me quite a fit with bleed-through, but I finally got it under control and I love the result. This was a $69 thrift store steal:
Duck Egg Blue and White China Cabinet
Here is one I’m pulling out from WAY back. It’s not really thrifty unless you consider it saved us buying a new sofa! My sectional was a crazy configuration and was just too big. I took a saw to it and reconfigured it to work better for our needs. This mess of a photo gives you an idea what went on here:
How I Destroyed and Rebuilt my Sectional
It’s so much better now, slip covers are next for this baby!
This next makeover is one of my favorites, mostly because it’s so dramatic. It was a real junker before. You really need to see how it started to appreciate it:
A Men’s Valet becomes a Sweet Stool for Her
This desk was a great estate sale find. I paired it with a $10 thrift store chair that was a perfect companion:
Adding graphics to the desk top and back of the chair is what really makes this sweet set unique!
I love to add French graphics to furniture. This next set of petite antique side tables is really perfect for some Frenchy fun:
This next find was another Facebook Yard Sale score. I got this for only $60!
It was upholstered to match my French Provincial chairs, but when I went to drop it off at my booth, the chairs had already sold. This sold shortly after:
This little stool was a $5 yard sale find. It got a quick makeover using the same fabric:
This next makeover was part of a contest hosted by a hardware company. This is a basic IKEA Rast that they provided, after a little hacking from yours truly:
This thrift store table was stuck in a time warp, but I think the nautical compass helped give it an updated feel:
I found this chair for $5 at a yard sale. It has a secret drawer that makes it so unique!
Sewing Chair with a Top Secret Drawer
This console table was a $10 yard sale find. I fell in love with its claw feet. I also added graphics to the top of this one:
This next little estate sale find had fabric that was four layers thick! I shared them all in this post:
This little chair was a fun one for Christmas:
This next piece was an estate sale find. I found it in the back of a shed covered in tools. It was in terrible shape when I came across it but I loved it back to beautiful:
This well-used stool was found in the garage of another estate sale. It was built purely for function, but these are some of my favorite pieces to find, knowing it was used a lot:
This recent redo was a $55 thrift store SCORE, if I ever saw one! I didn’t even have a booth yet or anywhere to put it, but I bought it anyway!
This bench with awesome storage was a $10 yard sale find:
These chairs got a facelift too…with simple slip covers!
Slipcovering an Armless Accent Chair
This little side table was just so sad with its horrendous paint job and chipping veneer, but for $7 I was willing to take a chance on it. A piece of lace curtain used as a stencil, added a sweet detail to the drawer:
And my most recent furniture score, this beautiful dressing table I found at an estate sale for $40!
It doesn’t have to cost a fortune to have beautiful furniture. If you like the look of painted furniture, but have never painted a piece before, buy a cheapie piece to practice on. You can always repaint, or sand and start new if you’re not happy with the results!

Ok let me just say … love, love, love! As I was was reading through I sould say to myself “Oh that’s my favorite.” But then I would read a little more and change my mind again. I just loved them all! You spoke to my heart. My passion is finding that lost treasure and brining it back to life. I hope to someday have a collection like yours to share. As of right now I just have a few pieces I have refreshed and shared. Thanks for the inspiration.

Doesn’t it feel so good to love an old and dated piece of furniture back to life? If I were just starting out again, I would have a ball furnishing an apartment with thrifty finds. So glad you enjoyed my recap. It really is fun for me to look back at them all. 🙂
