Townsfolk of Christmas Towne are Missing!

Someone quick, call the- oh wait, he's fine...just napping in the phone booth.

I am about to start packing up my Christmas Towne but before I do I thought I would share what the townsfolk have been up to or rather the journey they took to Brennanville.  That would be the town in which my two year-old, Brennan is the Mayor. First, here is a look at the very snowy but peaceful Christmas Towne.         Ok so life is pretty good in Christmas Towne. But quite often the townsfolk mysteriously disappear... ...to … [Read more...]

What should you do with your old gate? Don’t throw it away!

SONY DSC

This was our gift to my husband's parents  this past Christmas.  It was practially free! Last summer, my neighbors were having a new fence put up.  One day while the installers were working, I happened to head out to the mailbox just as they were leaving for lunch.  They had left a huge pile of old fence parts at the end of the driveway.  And there it was...just gleaming in all its glory...this beautiful gate. I had to think fast. I grabbed my son who was nine at the time and had … [Read more...]

How to Make a Christmas Tree Card Holder

SONY DSC

My mom has been looking high and low for a Christmas card holder.  It's been really hard to find them this year for some reason.  So, I decided to be a good little elf and make her one.  I was inspired by this one made from yard sticks that I saw on Pinterest.  Here is my version:      Cute, huh?  What was that? You want me to show you how I did it? Okay! Not too difficult, you can probably look at it and figure it out.  But I'll show you anyway:) Here's what you'll … [Read more...]

How to Make an Illuminated Holiday Sign

See the cute asterisk I penciled in for the 'I'? There ended up not being enough space in that area to pull it off. Boo hoo.

The most important component of our Santa's Workshop is the sign that let's everyone know what it is.  Making the sign was pretty easy and would be a fun addition to any outdoor holiday display so I thought I'd share how I made it!  It's not too late to make one for this year.  After all, most of us keep our Holiday lights up until at least New Years, right? What you'll need: 3/8" ply wood (thick enough to be sturdy but not so thick that the lights won't show through the other … [Read more...]

Fun and Inexpensive Bathroom Art

Brennan's sweet little baby feet...I could just eat them up!

When our master bathroom redo was nearly complete, I started shopping around for something to hang on the walls.  I had a difficult time finding just what I wanted so I decided to create something more personal to adorn our walls.  My baby boy was the inspiration. We had newborn photos taken at our home and the photographer captured all sorts of body parts that were so cute on film.  I thought it would be fun to take photos of different parts of all of our bodies to frame (rated G, of course).  … [Read more...]

How to Make a Silhouette Ornament

I've seen silhouettes popping up all over the place and I thought it would be fun to make silhouette ornaments as gifts!  I made these ornaments as gifts for my nieces. I also inverted the colors on mine because I … [Read more...]

Building Santa’s Workshop

Tada! I also made the fabulous sign for above the door and plan on making a similar one for my BIL for his Christmas display so look for a tutorial on that coming soon:)

That's right! We built Santa's Workshop, right on our front lawn!  We love love love to deck our halls.  My husband doesn't stop until every last string of lights has found itself a home for the holidays. Here is proof...my husband had just gotten back from being diagnosed with a bacterial  upper respiratory infection less than an hour before I caught him doing this: That's him in the back yard putting up more Christmas lights he found in the garage. And I know he thinks I have a … [Read more...]
