Hello lovely Friends!! Every year about this time I almost feel embarrassed that I’m even attempting to talk about Fall décor when it is still in the 90’s outside around here.
But, Fall is coming…here, and where you live too. I promise.
And just so you’ll be ready when it does, my Get Your DIY On co-hosts and I are sharing some simple Fall decorating ideas with you!
My kiddos are still on Summer break until next week, and dragging out all my Fall decorations to see what I have/could possibly make over/what I still need just isn’t happening at the moment. But you know what I do have ready?
I have seven fantastic and inexpensive projects from my archives to get your Fall decorating fever going! (And hopefully mine as well!)
1
I have moved toward a more neutral Fall palette the past couple of years, just for something different.
It all started with this Fall wreath I made:
You can see how I made that HERE.
2
The same year, I decided to carry the neutral palette indoors to my dining room table:
This whole set up was made from reject pieces except for two pumpkins. Some of these pieces were so ugly! See for yourself HERE.
3
This little wooden crate was a fun project to build using leftover scraps and an old chair spindle:
It fits right in with my painted pumpkins! I share how I built it HERE.
4
Last year I decided to change up my dining table centerpiece and used this old lantern (that I almost threw away!!) to create this one:
See how I made this and the sad condition that lantern was in before HERE.
5
This next project is SUPER inexpensive to make…
All I had to purchase was a couple of pieces of cardstock to make this quilled paper pumpkin. Get the full how-to for this project HERE.
6
Then for our Swap it Like it’s Hot challenge last Fall where we exchanged thrift store goodies with blogger friends and made them over, I received a sweater, which I turned into this whimsical owl and squishy pumpkin:
I shared the how-to for these HERE.
7
Finally, for our Fall themed Get Your DIY On challenge last year, I created this sweet mini pumpkin garland:
It’s such a cute addition to my hutch. See the full tutorial HERE.
Several of these elements came together to create my Neutral Fall Mantel last year:
See it in detail HERE including how I made those arrangements on either side of the mantel.
I think I’m just going to pull out this picture and recreate the whole thing for this year. Talk about easy decorating!
I hope you are feeling a bit motivated to pull out some Fall décor now. I think this really helped to put me in the mood. 🙂
For even more Fall decorating inspiration, check out what my Get Your DIY On Girls have come up with:

The neutral is so beautiful in your home, there is just so much here to inspire anyone. I’m so ready for fall, hasn’t this been the hottest summer. I’m afraid I have let things go outside because it is so hot, so like you I’m inside getting my fall decor out and painting some pieces so when fall arrives I will be ready and I can head outside. After seeing your gorgeous neutrals I think I will add more neutrals to mine. Thanks so much Christy.
Christy says
Thanks so much, Patty! This really has been such a hot summer. Aside from my planters, I have let everything outside go as well…this is the most fried our grass has ever been! Definitely looking forward to Fall weather! XO

I remember each of these inspiring Fall projects of yours. I especially remember swooning over the paper quilled pumpkin and appreciating how much time went into all those quills.
Christy says
Aw thanks, Marie! It’s just about time to break them all again. After the intense heat we’ve had here this Summer, I am ready for Fall!!
Joanne Taggart says
Love the post Christy! I too am gravitating towards a neutral palette for fall. So glad you kept the lantern. Love it! And I’ve got to say the sweater and squishy pumpkin are adorable. You have inspired me! Thanks so much Christy.
Christy says
Thanks, Joanne! I do love the beautiful traditional colors for Fall as well, but the I really love the muted tones lately. So glad you’re feeling inspired! XO
