A New Sign from a Curbside Find

Hi lovely Friends! I was yard saling this Spring and from a mile away as I was nearing one particular yard sale, I spotted a trash pile on the curb. It was mostly old yard decor, but I also spied a few decent pieces of wood. Now how sad is it that I would be more interested in what these nice people were throwing away than what they were selling? I asked if it would be okay if I took the wood, and of course they were so nice about it, but it's much easier to take someone's trash when they're … [Read more...]

White-Washed Reclaimed Wood Tray

Reclaimed-Wood-Tray-1 (2)

Hi there lovely friends! I am still catching up from this past weekend in Atlanta at the Haven Blogging conference.  It was a total blast seeing all my favorite blogging buddies again. I'll be back soon to share some fun pics! Today I am sharing what I did with this yard sale frame, and these old fence pickets I scored from a house that was being renovated: Can you see the price tag on the frame? That's one whole dollar. Score! I saw this frame as a tray right away. I started by … [Read more...]

Fabric Inlaid Night Table

Hi Friends! On Tuesday I shared the makeover of one VERY brown dresser. As I was just about finished painting it, I realized I had a night table that had very similar lines. So I decided to make it a set. Here is the before: I picked this up for $12 at the thrift store a month or so ago. I loved the hardware and thought the detail on the top drawer would really stand out after a little paint. And I think it does...   The hardware was updated with Rustoleum spray … [Read more...]

Fabric Inlaid Dresser

This thrifty dresser got a whole new look with some paint and fabric!

Hi Friends!! Up for  a thrifty makeover today? Last weekend we decided to take our boys and my nephew to Ocean City, MD for the Holiday weekend. It was such a blast...we were total tourists ya'll and it was so fun! But when I got back and checked on my booth, it was very sad. I mean that in a good way...I had sold several furniture pieces including a huge hutch that left a big empty space. I needed to find a couple of big pieces to fill it back up, so I stopped by one of my favorite … [Read more...]

Repurpose a favorite scarf by puttingit under tha glass in a picture frame turned tray!

If you were asked to use a scarf in a new way, what would you do? That's how a lot of these transformations happen around here. A fabulous blogger comes up with a fun idea for a post and invites a bunch of other bloggers to join in the fun. Ms. Lauren of The Thinking Closet (who really is super fabulous) and her blogging pal, Vanessa from Tried and True hosted Scarf Week last year during the Discovery Channel's Shark Week. This year to make it even bigger and better, they invited a bunch of … [Read more...]

New Hardwood Floors {& total chaos}

Installing Engineered Hardwood Floors

Who wants to see my house in total chaos? My new hardwood floors have been spotted in lots of pictures recently, not that I've been pointing them out every chance I get or anything ahem. However, today I thought it would be fun to share some of the ugly that had to happen along the way as well! In January of 2013, my #1 project on my project wish list for that year, was installing hardwood floors. We have a very open concept downstairs and we had four different types of flooring going on.  … [Read more...]

Cottage-Inspired Mirror with Shelf from Thrifty Finds

Cottage-Inspired Shelf with Mirror from thrifty finds

Hello Friends! Today I'm sharing a great upcycle from two items I found recently. First I found this simple shelf at a thrift store: I loved the chunkiness of it and figured for $6 I'd be able to do something with it. Then not long after that, I found this mirror: For ONE WHOLE DOLLAR at a yard sale. Yes, I'll have that, thank you! When I was playing around in my workshop/studio...okay the garage...I spotted these two getting cozy in a corner and had an idea to marry the … [Read more...]

Patriotic Birdhouse

Patriotic Birdhouse from a $2 thrift store find

With the Fourth of July just around the corner for us here in the U.S., some of my favorite blogger friends and I are sharing fun DIY projects to show off our patriotic pride! I decided to make over a little Christmas birdhouse that I found for $2 at the thrift store a while back. I bought it when I was making a few Christmas arrangements, but it didn't make the cut. Here it is before: It's kind of pretty, but it has just been sitting in a bin in my … [Read more...]

Antique Folding Sewing Table

Antique folding sewing table.

A few weekends ago, I had a fantastic yard sale day that looked a little something like this: One of the yard sales I almost didn't stop at was one held by a paint supply distributor! What are the chances?? There really wasn't much to see from the street, but I saw stacks of blue tape and that's what made me get out to look. Look at the goodies I scored! The tape was a painter's tape that I hadn't heard of before, but he was selling it for $1 a roll, so I didn't have much to lose. … [Read more...]
