Christmas Tree Pillow {from Vintage Bedspreads}

Christmas Tree Pillow made from Vintage Bedspreads

How do you feel about Secret Santa gift exchanges? Fun? Stressful? Several of my friends in Blogland and I are participating in a Secret Santa swap this year and today I'm sharing what I made for my Secret Santa, and also what I received! I guess it wasn't really a secret, since we knew who had us from the start, but I thought it would be fun, and then it became very stressful! You see, the person I had to make a gift for is Jennifer Rizzo.  I love love (really) love her style, but what … [Read more...]

Oh Christmas Chair

This little chair got a sweet Christmas Makeover!

Hello lovely people! Welcome to Themed Furniture Thursday! Every month I, along with several of my favorite blogging buddies, makeover a piece of furniture to fit a particular theme. Any idea what this month's theme was by seeing the preview picture? Red! The color red is this month's theme. This was a really tough one for me because I don't have anything red in my house, and it totally doesn't suit my style...with one exception...at Christmas time! I had the perfect piece of furniture for … [Read more...]

How to Make Double Welting for Upholstery {without double welting cord}

Easy step-by-step for making double welting for upholstery!

When I shared my French Provincial Chair Makeover recently, I had several people interested in seeing how I did it.  It seems there are a lot of upholstery projects waiting for their big makeovers out there! I am not a professional. In fact this was my first upholstery project of this magnitude, so if I can figure it out, you definitely can too! Today I am sharing how I made the welting that finishes off the edges so nicely. Then I will soon follow up with the chair upholstery. There are too … [Read more...]

DIY Mitten Ornaments...no knitting required!

Do you make Christmas ornaments as gifts? Is it something you do every year for your special friends and family? My older sister and her daughters make a new ornament each year for us. They started when her girls were young. Now they are 17 and 22,  and we still get them, and I truly look forward to seeing what they create each year. My amazing friend, Christa, receives several handmade ornaments from her MIL that she makes to giveaway, and I look forward to being the lucky recipient of one … [Read more...]

Upholstered Headboard

Upholstered Headboard

Hi all! I found this gorgeous headboard on a Facebook yard sale group a couple of months ago and had to go see it. A local upholstering company was selling it out of their warehouse. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was coming home with me, only it was  four days later. It was so big, there was no way it was going to fit into my SUV, so I had to end up picking it up with my hubby's truck...on my birthday! It was listed at $75, but the girl selling it took my offer of $60. What a steal! It's … [Read more...]

DIY Sweater Stockings {Anthropologie-Inspired}

DIY Sweater Stockings

Hello there beautiful people! I am really excited about today's post! This is part of the "Rock Your Knock-off Holiday Edition" Tour where some of my favorite blogging friends and I find high-end (and very over-priced) items, and make them for a fraction of the cost. Here is one of my favorite knock-offs from our very first tour: Such an easy way to dress up a cheap plastic garbage can. For our Holiday version, I chose this Spice Market Stocking from Anthropologie: This very … [Read more...]

$5 Mini-Chest with Mirror Makeover

Mini Chest with Mirror makeover

Hey friends! Today I have a quick before and after for you and then you can go about your day as planned! I needed a simple project after reupholstering two French Provincial Chairs nearly did me in! I found this little antique chest for $5 at a yard sale right in my own neighborhood this Summer: Those mirror supports are barely sitting in there. It just about fell apart when I picked it up, but a little wood glue and we're good to go. Here is the after: I picked up this … [Read more...]

French Provincial Chair Makeover

Reupholstering a French Provincial Chair

Today I am so excited to share my French Provincial Chair makeover with you!  I'm excited mostly because they are done! As you can see by the preview photo, this story has a happy ending. But it wasn't without a few bumps (and blisters) in the road. My Mom and I spied these chairs at an estate sale last Friday. We passed on them, knowing they required a lot of work, but she had a change of heart and went back for them on Saturday. Luckily everything was 50% 0ff and she scored these two … [Read more...]

Desk with French Graphics

Painting a chair with graphics

Yay! It's Themed Furniture Thursday!  A bunch of us crazy DIY girls get together once a month to share a furniture makeover. The catch is that everyone's makeovers have to follow a theme! This month's theme is "Words/Letters".  I immediately went to my go-to for graphics...the Graphics Fairy, and this is what I came up with: Can you see the graphics? They're on top!   I found this desk at an estate sale a few weeks ago at this cute little cottage that was about 6 houses … [Read more...]

Simple Halloween Soap Dispenser

Simple Halloween Soap Dispenser

Hi friends! Today I'm sharing a super simple way to turn an ordinary soap dispenser into something boo-rific! I shared this on my friend, Mandy's blog last week and I thought you might enjoy it too. I started with a bottle of Dial Gold hand soap. This was 88¢ at Walmart: I peeled off the labels. They will not likely peel off and leave a nice clean smooth surface. But, I used De-solv-it citrus scented adhesive remover to remove the residual adhesive, which took all of two minutes. (I've … [Read more...]
