Cottage-Inspired Mirror with Shelf from Thrifty Finds

Cottage-shelf-and-mirror-before

Hello Friends! Today I'm sharing a great upcycle from two items I found recently. First I found this simple shelf at a thrift store: I loved the chunkiness of it and figured for $6 I'd be able to do something with it. Then not long after that, I found this mirror: For ONE WHOLE DOLLAR at a yard sale. Yes, I'll have that, thank you! When I was playing around in my workshop/studio...okay the garage...I spotted these two getting cozy in a corner and had an idea to marry the … [Read more...]

Patriotic Birdhouse

Patriotic Birdhouse from a $2 thrift store find

With the Fourth of July just around the corner for us here in the U.S., some of my favorite blogger friends and I are sharing fun DIY projects to show off our patriotic pride! I decided to make over a little Christmas birdhouse that I found for $2 at the thrift store a while back. I bought it when I was making a few Christmas arrangements, but it didn't make the cut. Here it is before: It's kind of pretty, but it has just been sitting in a bin in my … [Read more...]

What's up my sweet Friends? Are ya'll up for a coffee table makeover? That's what I'm bringing you on this fine day! Antique Folding Sewing Table

Antique folding sewing table.

A few weekends ago, I had a fantastic yard sale day that looked a little something like this: One of the yard sales I almost didn't stop at was one held by a paint supply distributor! What are the chances?? There really wasn't much to see from the street, but I saw stacks of blue tape and that's what made me get out to look. Look at the goodies I scored! The tape was a painter's tape that I hadn't heard of before, but he was selling it for $1 a roll, so I didn't have much to lose. … [Read more...]

28 Farmhouse Furniture Ideas {with Hometalk!}

28 Fabulous Farmhouse makeovers shared on Hometalk!

Hey there Friends! You know I love a good furniture makeover, right? One of my favorite furniture makeovers of mine is this hutch: The reason I love this hutch so much is not the color I chose, or the hardware I added, or how I styled it. It is the timeless farmhouse feel of it. That and the fact that I rescued it from the back of a shed at an estate sale. It was covered in grease and grime, and I loved it back to life. There may or may not have been a few four-letter words fly out of my … [Read more...]

Summer Hydrangea Wreath Tutorial

Summer Hydrangea Wreath Tutorial

Hello my friends! Today I am sharing a hydrangea wreath that I made for my front door. But didn't I just make a shell wreath for my door a couple of weeks ago? Yes I did! This is actually my Summer wreath from last year. I shared it as a guest post for Between Naps on the Porch then, but never shared it here. I thought I'd share it in case shells aren't your thang. :) This wreath was super easy to put together and could easily carry you all the way through until the Fall. I … [Read more...]

Fabric Inlaid Mirror

Dated thrift store mirror updated with a little paint and fabric!

Are you up for a thrifty makeover today? Well I hope so because that's exactly what I'm sharing! I found this very dated mirror for $8 at the thrift store a few weeks back: Immediately when I saw it, I imagined fabric in the panel on top. And that's exactly what I added... But first I removed the mirror and painted the frame in DIY chalk paint in Cottage White by Behr. Bye bye ugly mirror! I gave it three coats, then sanded the edges a bit. Then I sealed it with Minwax … [Read more...]

Updating Old Porch Decor

Planters Updated with Spraypaint and Sisal Rope

Hi Friends! Today I'm sharing how I squeezed at least one more season out of my old and faded, porch decor! Let's start here: How sad is this? This is one of two planters like this. They were both faded, but this one had a big crack in the side as well. As I was gearing up for my Summer Home Tour, I really wanted to freshen up my entry area. I decided to start by freshening up these two planters with a little paint and...sisal rope! They really do look so fresh and new, … [Read more...]
