The Perfect Solution to Organizing Toys

Little did I know that the perfect solution to organizing my son's toys had been in my garage for eight months. Last spring, I stopped at a yard sale on my way to wherever I was supposed to be going and found these: Actually there were three of them leaning up against a fence, and when the guy said $5 for all three, I snapped them up. I figured I could take them apart and make something else with them eventually. But there they sat taking up valuable real estate in the  garage. I … [Read more...]

10 Tips to a Better Closet

Last January I shared a post on how I built my closet, in response to numerous questions I received when I shared the makeover. It was my number one post in 2014. (You can see the top 10 here.) Today I am bringing this one out of the archives for this months Get Your DIY On theme: … [Read more...]

Organizing Recipes

Since January is the month of all things organization, its high time I got one thing organized...my recipes!  I'm a bit of a lazy recipe collector in that I like to clip and file. Please don't make me copy my recipes to  an index card, there's NEVER enough space! For the past couple of years, this has been my system: I know, not much of a system.  This is a photo album and what I love about it is that I can just slip my recipes the plastic sleeves and move on. But as … [Read more...]

How a Girl Built her Closet

This is the perfect time of year to start thinking about getting organized.  One of my all time favorite spaces in my house is my master closet, probably because it is the most organized space in my house! I originally shared my Master Closet Makeover last year, and for a while I was getting questions about it almost on a daily basis. Today I'm going to share how I built my closet. Magnetic Message Board

Hello my lovelies! As I confessed the other day, my dining table has been on a bit of an, er delay. Yes that's what we'll call it. I am now regrouping and have plan B all set to go. I found a fabulous fabric for the chairs that I shared on facebook, so I'm excited to get working on those this weekend as well! Today I'm sharing a couple more easy frame upcycles. I put these together a few weeks ago when I was trying to gather some things to photograph for my application to the Christmas Market … [Read more...]

Chicken Wire Message Board

While I had my chicken wire at the ready, after just finishing this little $5 thrift store cabinet, I threw together this quick and easy chicken wire message board: I  used my staple gun to attach the chicken wire to the inside of the frame. This is certainly not a new concept, but I just can't get over the before and after on this one and had to share. Here is what it looked like before: I dragged this painting home from a yard sale a couple of weeks ago. It cost me all of … [Read more...]

Chicken Wire Isn’t Just for Chickens

Chicken wire isn't just for chickens, but of course you are so smart...you already knew that!  Today I'm sharing a quick little redo on a cabinet I found at the thrift store for five dollars. I started with this $5 thrift store beauty: And here is her beauty shot: I snatched this right up and was so excited to show my mom (who was with me at the time), but she raised her nostril so high (not a good sign, I can assure you), that I almost put it back. Almost. But I had faith. (By … [Read more...]

Big Boy Bedroom on a Budget Reveal

My big boy is really only two and a half, but he will grow to be a big boy in this room. We knew it was time to take down his crib after a recent successful out of town experience in a big boy bed.  Plus, he is really big for a two year old and  needed a bigger bed. We moved him into his big brother, Jack's old room.  This is how the room looked before we switched rooms: And here is the Big Boy Brennan version: I kept the same theme that was in his … [Read more...]

DIY Under-the-Cabinet Docking Station

Hello friends! I've got a great organizational idea to share with you today! Yesterday I was attempting to get the house in some type of order and I came across my kitchen counter where we house all of our charging apparatus.  It was so frustrating to see cords and phones and iPods strewn everywhere! If you know me, an idea is a dangerous thing.  I woke up this morning and right then I knew what was on the agenda for today! An under-the-cabinet docking station:   This is … [Read more...]
