Welcome my sweet friends! Last week I shared my Christmas Courtyard decked for the Holidays, and today I am back to share the inside of my home as part of the Home for the Holidays Christmas home tour!
Here is my entryway that I already shared…
Come on in…
As you enter, you face our stairwell. I found this metal wall art this Summer at a yard sale for $5. I painted it in the Spring, and it’s perfect to display wreaths for the seasons…
Just to the right you’ll be led into the dining room…
The stunning carpet is from Shaw Carpets. The dining set was an $85 thrift store score.
My mantel has a “Two Turtle Doves” theme as part of the Twelve Days of Christmas Tour. I kept the theme going in the dining room by incorporating feathers into the centerpiece:
You can see how simple it was to put together here.
This was my China Cabinet I purchased shortly after I was married. I was about to put it out for my neighborhood’s annual yard sale when I decided instead to paint it. Annie Sloan paint brought it right up to date!
I continued the turtle dove theme with the addition of these sweet birds in these little last minute arrangements I made out of old bathroom globes. I purchased the birds and the centerpiece feathers at JoAnn Fabrics.
I decorated around my thrift store ironstone finds…
This ironstone creamer is perfect for a tiny arrangement:
Our home is one big open floor plan with only the staircase to break up the downstairs space. If you continue around you’ll enter the kitchen.
It got a new paint job this Summer. So glad that job is done! You can see the dreary before here.
I just added a few Holiday touches to the kitchen…like the boxwood wreath to the cabinet door, and the tree in the window box…
…and this sweet deer from TJ Maxx. My four year old keeps stealing the candy canes…need to move them out of reach of sticky little fingers!
Between the kitchen and living area, is this cozy spot I like to curl up in …
A festive wreath on my DIY mirror and a lighted arrangement on the table add a little holiday flare to this spot. The cozy blankets and sweater pillow will keep us warm all Winter. My magazines are hidden under the blanket. 🙂
You can really see how open our floorplan is here…as in NO walls…
The cabinet in the foreground above is pictured below. It was a thrift store sewing cabinet, and holds my machine and all my notions.
Gold shatter-proof ornaments are used in several places to add a bit of bling for not a lot of dough. I bought a couple of large containers of them at Walmart for less than $5 each.
Another ironstone piece holds this simple touch of greenery…
Continuing to the left is our fireplace:
This is my “Two Turtle Doves” Wreath and Mantel from our Twelve Days of Christmas Tour. The Sweater Stockings were made from sweaters I retrieved from our goodwill bag in the garage.
The glass candelabras are thrift store dessert dishes glued bottom to top. They were originally part of my Pottery Barn-inspired Halloween Mantel (very cool if you haven’t seen it!), and I decided to keep them around a little while longer.
This little sweater deer hanging out on my Coffee Table is a favorite find from last year at Target.
More cheapo shatter-proof ornaments are looking very festive in my hurricane glass container from Kirklands…
And finally… the tree…oh my poor poor tree. There was a little accident involving the tree late Sunday afternoon. If you follow me on instagram, you already know…
Can you say naked backside? I think the ornaments I crammed on the front must have weighed it down. But, with my sweet hubby’s help and perseverance, we got it back together.
I wasn’t joking about the ornaments weighing it down though…
I cram that baby full! No shame here.
Look how pretty Google+ Auto Awesome made my Christmas Tree look:
I love that! Thanks, Google+!
And that wraps up my 2014 Christmas Home Tour!

Christy, your house is, (as it was last Christmas), beautiful! You have cleared the way for me to use the ‘cheap’ ornaments I found last week. I wasn’t sure if they would stage well, and I see they’ll be perfect AND stretch my budget.
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Justine! And yes! Spread those cheapo ornaments everywhere. 🙂
Donna Lee says

Pam @ House of Hawthornes says
I love your mantel. It’ so pretty and serene. And hey, it’s not Christmas until the tree falls down 🙂
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Pam! We had tree-falling-down issues last year too, but only before it was decorated. We need to bolt it to the wall ha ha. XO
Laurie@ Vin'yet Etc. says
So many wonderful things to love! I am not sure where to start! I think my fave is the face planted tree! lol the photo after that, one would NEVER have guess the before unless you showed that photo! Your heart must have sunk, excellent job restoring it to such a masterpiece. That little sweater deer has stolen my heart though, he’s so cute! Happy holidays and thank-you for the beautiful tour!
Christy K. James says
Thanks so much, Laurie! I lost a couple of really dear-to-me ornaments and I was seriously fighting back tears, but then I said, “Wait…let me get my camera!” and then we started laughing, so it’s all good. Luckily my little one wasn’t nearby! So glad to have you over for a visit! XO
Luisa says
Everything looks stunning Christy! Aside from that courtyard of yours, your table centerpiece is my favorite!! Wishing you a happy week!
Christy K. James says
Thanks so much, Luisa! Hope you are enjoying this Holiday season so far. Christmas will be so fun this year with your sweet baby boy and in your new house! XOXO
Anita from Cedar Hill Farmhouse says
I loved seeing your lovely home. The white dishes and the mercury glass were so pretty. Ha on the tree, and did I spy a skirted cover for your toaster? I need to see that up close. It really looked pretty!!
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Anita! And you certainly did spy a slipcovered toaster ha ha. It’s one of my favorite projects…you can see more here: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/not-your-mothers-toaster-oven-cover/ Hope you have a blessed Christmas! XO
Paula@SweetPea says
Beautiful, Christy! I love all of your special Christmas touches. If you don’t watch out, you’ll be on a VB Christmas house tour!
Christy K. James says
Thanks so much, Paula! And thanks again for sharing your kids’ ornaments with me. They were precious and I’m sure they loved making them! 🙂
Erin Kaven says
Can totally relate having had my tree fall over twice (and many tears over broken ornaments like my It’s a Wonderful Life glass Radko and two of my first Christmas baby ornaments. Now we tie it up to a hook on the ceiling.
Christy K. James says
Oh that’s a great idea to attach it to the ceiling. I lost several precious-to-me ornaments as well, but thankfully my four-year old wasn’t near it at the time!
Shanna Gilbert says
Such pretty pictures Christy! Your house looks so warm and cozy and I love all of the little pops of blue throughout! I think your mantel is my favorite!
Christy K. James says

Marie@The Interior Frugalista says
Oh my Christy my heart sank when I saw that tree on the ground! Looks like you were able to salvage it perfectly. Your home is gorgeous – you are definitely The Vignette Queen!
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Marie! My poor tree…I should say my poor hubby. He worked overtime getting that tree to stay up! I hope you are finding time in this crazy blogging world to enjoy this season! This was my last tour, so I am ready to chill out. 🙂 XO
Angie @ Postcards from the Ridge says
Your home is beautiful inside and out! (just like you) You’re so clever to carry the bird theme into the dining room with feathers. And what’s Christmas without a tree mishap?
Christy K. James says
Thanks so much, Angie! I originally purchased the birds and feathers when I was trying to come up with a themed mantel, but didn’t use them. They worked perfectly in the dining room. Thanks for hosting such a great tour! XOXO
Sherri S. says

Sharon Hines says
Everything looks so warm and inviting, starting with the beautiful porch. I love the mix of mercury/silver and gold…it’s one of my favorite looks. And, I’m still loving your turtle dove mantel.
Christy K. James says
Thanks so much, Sharon! Have a wonderful Christmas! XO
Lindsey@BetterAfter says
This is heavenly! You have such a beautiful home. For the longest time, our motto was: “It isn’t Christmas until the tree falls down!” Every. single. year. Finally we got a decent tree and it hasn’t happened for a couple years now, knock on wood.
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Lindsey! Our tree fell down last year too, but it wasn’t decorated yet…I seriously think I have way too many ornaments on the poor thing and the back is totally naked since it’s in the corner. We tried to distribute them a little more evenly when we got it back on its feet lol. Fingers crossed. 😉
Kerryanne @ Shabby Art Boutique says
Thank you for the home tour Christy. It all looks so lovely, but what about your poor tree… I’m glad it wasn’t damaged. There were so many little touches to admire and it looks so welcoming. I hope you have an amazing Christmas season.
Merry Christmas,
Kerryanne
Christy K. James says
Thank you, Kerryanne! Enjoy your warm and toasty Christmas while we freeze our buns off lol 🙂

Christy K. James says
Thanks, Jen! I’m so glad I got to be a part of your tour. 🙂 I love my dining room table and still can’t believe it had been sitting at the thrift store for over a month! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas! XOXO
Lauren @blesserhouse says
Aww your poor tree! Glad you got it all put back together. It looks beautiful. I LOVE all of the gold everywhere and the mercury glass on your dining table.
Christy K. James says
Thanks so much, Lauren! Yes, my poor poor tree…she’s tilted back a bit now, but that is just fine with us ha ha! XO
Nancy @ Artsy Chicks Rule says
Wow, just stunning Christy!!! STUNNING! Every detail. Love the new rug by the way!! And oh my…your poor bare naked backed tree!!! lol (not funny I know!) But it’s a beauty all back up.

The banner ads that appear at the bottom of your photos detract from the images.
Christy K. James says
Fonda…unfortunately creating content that I provide FREE to anyone who enjoys it, is not free to me, so they help cover what I spend to run this blog. There is an option to close them if you don’t want to see them, and out of 29 images, only three display ads.

Thanks so much for the sweet comment, Kelly! There’s a whole lot of thrift store/yard sale upcycling going on around here. I’m so glad to have you here, and I hope you’ll come back and visit often. 🙂

Christy K. James says
Aww thanks so much, Mary Beth! You are so sweet! XOXO
Peggy Thal says
Great tour! Everything looks beautiful. I had our tree fall over too in the middle of the night. Too many ornaments that weighed the tree over. Lost a few pretty ones but could have been worse. Now I tie my tree up so it can not fall . – When a tree falls in the house you can definitely hear it in the middle of the night.
Christy K. James says
Thank you, Peggy! I bet the sound of your tree falling scared the begeez out of you in the middle of the night! I lost a few precious ornaments too, but like you said, it could have been worse. Have a Merry Christmas! XO
Jamie | anderson + grant says
Isn’t that one of the worst feelings to see your poor tree lying facedown on the floor after you’ve taken the time and love to make it look pretty?!?! I’m glad you were able to get it back together. Your home is lovely! I’m loving how you did the mantel. And I NEED one of those cute sweater deer from Target!
Christy K. James says
Yes it is, Jamie! I was more upset that I lost a few very sentimental ornaments, but before I let my hubby touch it, I had to grab a picture. Then we started laughing so it was all good. Glad our four year old wasn’t nearby! And that deer is one of my favorite things…I could kick myself for not getting two! Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a Merry Christmas! XO
Alicia@ eco friendly homemaking says
Everything looks so pretty and I especially like the way you have the front porch and door decorated.
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Alicia! If only it would stay that neat at all times, right? …ah the joys of having boys 😉
Elizabeth says
One of the very best Home Tours this year- if not THE BEST…oh and the tree thingie- this happened to me every year till I cemented the tree stand into a lightweight- but substantial large flower pot- and nothing ever knocked it over again! Merry Christmas, and thanks for sharing your lovely home.
Christy K. James says
Thanks so much, Elizabeth! You are so sweet! And that is a great idea for the tree stand…I’ll definitely keep that in mind for next year. Merry Christmas! 🙂
Julie @ Southern Wild Design says
I said it before and I’ll say it again…the glass candle holders using the dessert cups is quite clever! Happy holidays! ~Julie
Christy K. James says
Thanks…I didn’t want to take them down yet ha ha! Happy Holidays to you too! 🙂
Cheri says
Beautiful house. Your Christmas decor is elegant.
Your front porch really caught my eye. We have the same slate tile in our entryway. I’m campaigning to have my husband cover our contractor stoop.
Christy K. James says
Thank you, Cheri! The tile is all my husband’s doing, but it does add so much character. Good luck on your campaign ha ha!
