Hello Lovelies and welcome back to this fun makeover series! We made it a whole week woohoo! Today is number seven and I’m sharing what I did with these pretty aqua dishes I just could not leave behind at the thrift store:
I was so smitten with them, and for 75¢ a piece I scooped them right up, having no clue what I was going to do with them.
I decided on a plan for three of these pieces, along with a set of candlesticks (only one pictured) that I picked up marked down to 48¢ each on the same trip. Clearance at the thrift store? Does it get any better than that? I think not.
Can you guess what I did with them? Probably.
I made a jewelry tower with them:
I love this for my dressing table in my bedroom!
I love having all the pieces I use most often so easy to find.
Making this was simple. I was able to unscrew the very bottom part of the candlestick that was really too wide for this project anyway. (I used the bottoms of four of these candlesticks on another project HERE!)
Then I cut the candlesticks into two pieces that would look right in between the dishes, not too tall, not too short. I found that cutting them at the wider parts worked best. I used my miter saw to cut them, and then gave them a couple of coats of spray paint…
Next I busted out the E6000 glue (affiliate) and glued the pieces together.
Follow the instructions and check on the pieces often while drying as they sometimes have a tendency to slide out of place a bit.
I let them dry fully overnight and that was that. Easy!
There are so many pretty dishes to be found at thrift stores, so the possibilities for something like this are limitless! My friend Nancy from Artsy Chicks Rule made a similar one out of some really sad pieces that you can see HERE.
I’ll be back tomorrow sharing what I did with this dresser that I picked up at a yard sale last Summer for SUPER cheap:
UPDATE: This is too cute to wait to see…check it out HERE now!

Hi Christy! I’m drinking my coffee after having woke up early and enjoying catching up on posts I hadn’t seen yet due to working. What a lovely way to wake up. Love the jewelry holder. The colors are lovely and it’s always a good thing to have the pieces we wear most often within easy reach. Thanks for the display!

This is perfect for jewelry storage and the turquoise color of the dishes is so pretty. Are you keeping this for yourself? I would!
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Paula! I keep my jewelry that I wear most in a bowl and everything gets tangled in there. I am keeping this one since it displays them so much better. 🙂
