It is time…time to change out my Winter to Spring wreath.
Isn’t it crazy how expensive wreaths can be to buy already finished?
There are so many new ways to create a budget-friendly wreath floating around out there, but I’m a fan of the traditional flowers-on-grapevine wreaths. Call me unadventurous I guess, but that’s what I like.
Creating this type of wreath can seem harder than it really is. Sometimes I think it’s just knowing what stems to buy.
I’m going to show you what I used and step-by-step how easy it was to create my new Summer wreath.
First you’ll need a grapevine wreath. You can buy one for around $3-$5. I actually found mine at the thrift store:
Perty, ain’t she? Not so much. But hey, it was only 75¢!!
After I took all it’s clothes off, I had a perfectly good wreath ready for it’s makeover:
The flowers I chose came from Michaels. They were part of their “Garden Collection”. Luckily they were on sale 50% off. I paid $14 for all the flowers you see here and I ended up not using all of them!
I chose colors that reflected what I have in my garden. I started with these light green sprays:
Using hot glue, I tucked one in this way and then one in the opposite direction:
Then I fanned them out like this:
This gives me a bit of a background to get me started. Next I used these:
This was one spray. I cut all the stems apart from the “grass” stuff:
Then I glued them in place individually, spacing them out evenly:
Looks good already, right?
I did the same with these guys:
And these guys:
And Voila:
Pretty easy, right??
I love it just like this, but I decided to add a bow:
If you are hanging your wreath on glass, these work great! You can add a tiny touch of vegetable oil to the back and it will stay there forever…this has been up since Christmas!
Here you can see where I drew my inspiration for the colors from:
If you’ve seen our front yard makeover that we did last Spring, you can see things have really taken off this year! I can’t wait to share more pictures with you.
I ended up not using $6 worth of the flowers I originally bought, so this wreath including the 75¢ thrift store grapevine wreath, cost me less than $10!!! I already had the bow ribbon. Woo hoo!!
If you’ve been skeered to make a wreath of your own before, now you see how easy it can be!
Have a great day!!

Sheila says
Your wreaths are beautiful! Unfortunately I am new to this and don’t know how to use pins or find directions for any of the others.
Christy K. James says
Welcome, Sheila! To pin something, you need to create a Pinterest board (super east!) by going to Pinterest.com. Then you can create boards like one just for wreaths, or one for outdoor projects. Then you can click on the “pin it” button that you see on most posts and add it to your Pinterest board. It’s like an online inspiration board:) you may have come here from another site and that’s why you don’t see directions for the other wreaths?
