Hello lovely Friends! I’m back with a new centerpiece for my dining room table that I’m pretty excited to share, as part of a fun Fall tour with my bHome Friends. Together we’ll be sharing over 30 Fall projects and ideas to inspire you. I’m sharing mine here today and I hope you’ll come back tomorrow when I share links to everyone else’s!
I’m also announcing a fabulous giveaway at the bottom of this post!
Okay first things first. Let me show you why I’m excited about my new centerpiece. It started out like this:
Now if you follow me regularly, you probably remember that I already gave this gross lantern a pick-me-up this Summer with a little spray paint:
BUT I was able to use it again for my Fall centerpiece! I almost threw this away in the Spring, y’all!
It did require yet another spray paint job though…
To make this!
I was inspired by this little arrangement that I had seen at Michaels:
I thought the idea to use a lantern was fabulous. Luckily I had just the one.
If you remember my Thrifty Fall Centerpiece from last year, you may remember the stand that I used as the base for my display…
My little lantern arrangement fit on it perfectly!
Want to make one too? It was quite simple to do!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Lantern (Remove candle if necessary)
- Floral Foam, knife (Michaels)
- Moss (Dollar Tree)
- Two feather/fuzzy stems (from Michaels)
- One ivory Fall floral bush (from Michaels)
- One small green Fall floral stem (from Michaels)
- Hot glue, hot glue gun
- Needle nosed pliers/wire cutters
- Small gold pumpkin (Micheals)
My lantern originally had a candle, but I removed it by unscrewing it from the bottom. I added floral foam to the bottom that I cut to fit with a knife:
Then I covered the foam with moss, using hot glue to secure it. Next I cut the feather/fuzzy stems apart with my needle nosed pliers:
Then I added those stems to the foam at the base like so:
Next I cut my ivory floral stems apart…
And added those as well:
The last to cut were the small green flower picks:
I added just a few here and there…
The last thing to add was the gold pumpkin. I pierced it through the bottom with a piece of one of the flower stems I didn’t use to turn it into a pick, and just stuck it in place.
I added a couple tiny pumpkins to finish it off and voila!
Really simple, right? Of course you could use any stems you want. This would be beautiful in traditional vibrant Fall colors too!
Here is my Fall wreath from last year hanging out in the background:
It still looks fresh and new. I did have to add a little hot glue to the flower on the top to hold it upright.
This wreath is now above my mantel. I’ll be sharing that next week.
It didn’t take much to fill this lantern. I spent around $15 for all the stems and the pumpkin. I already had the other supplies.
I have it on this stand, but I like it just as well without it…
I’ve got something else exciting to share!

So glad that you didn’t throw it away as it can be decorated and used all year long. That is what I do with mine anyway. Your Fall arrangement is beautiful by the way. After Fall, or even now, you can start thinking about doing a Christmas arrangement

Thanks, Colleen…this really could easily transition into Christmas! You just might see it again. 🙂

Your lantern arrangement is gorgeous! I like the way it flows out the sides and makes a bigger statement. You’ve encouraged me to get my wooden compote stand out and paint it–I’ve been thinking of doing that and now that I’ve seen how nice yours looks, I will paint it this morning! Just downloaded the bhome app–thanks for the link. And thanks for your always inspiring creativity!
