Hello sweet Friends! I have a quickie makeover for y’all today! I mentioned the other day when I shared my antique dressing table that I was working on a chair for it. This is that chair, only it’s a bit higher than a chair so I’m calling it a stool…maybe I should just call it a chool ha ha.
Here it is before. Meet the chool:
It was a sad chool, but for $7.50 at the thrift store, I dragged its sad little self home.
I was going to paint it white to match the dressing table, but then I decided to get all crazy and paint it Annie Sloan’s French Linen:
Okay not so crazy, I know. She doesn’t look too bad, but definitely not a good mate for the dressing table:
The style was all wrong. This pretty lady needed something more refined and lady-like. This dressing table sold already by the way. It lasted one whole day! My booth looked so good after I dropped it off and rearranged it. Now I have a hole again. That is a blessing and a good problem to have!
Back to the chair that’s cute, but didn’t quite do it for the dressing table…
This would be cute in an entry as a landing spot for your coat and purse, don’t you think?
After the French Linen, I sanded a little here and there and dry-brushed it with a bit of white.
Ooh how about in a bathroom with a stack of fluffy white towels on it? Can you see it?
If you liked this post, you’ll LOVE how this one turned out:
Hope you liked my chool.
I’ll be back on Tuesday sharing how I updated this estate sale find:
UPDATE: See what it looks like now HERE…what a difference!

Congratulations on selling your dressing table so quickly! I’ll bet someone will find a use for this little chair and snap it up before you know it.

Thanks, Paula! I was super excited and sad at the same time lol. Have a great weekend! XO

Very nice! I like all your ideas for how to use it. I’d love to come across a “chool” of my own!
Why am I not totally shocked that that dressing table went so fast? : ) That one is a beauty, too pretty for hiding away in a bedroom!

Thanks, Becky! I was so excited my dressing table sold, but sad to see it go so fast as well. Hopefully it will be enjoyed for years to come now. Have a great weekend! XO

You gave it personality!
Such a pretty result. 🙂

Thanks, TwoPlusCute! 🙂

The low back does not make it look comfortable to sit on but you made it look nice.
Christy K. James says
Thank you, Rose! It isn’t too bad actually, but would make a better plant stand, catch all, etc. 🙂

What a sweet little chair, it’s very unique and I love the redo!

So pretty, I have this very same chair, though mine is a jr. high chair and the legs of yours have been cut off. I haven’t painted mine yet since most of my stuff is painted, it’s nice to see wood contrast once in a while. I use my chair for my toddler granddaughter.
Christy K. James says
I bet you are right, Terry! I never thought of that, and yes it is nice to see wood in the mix. 🙂

Congratulations on the quick sale of that pretty vintage vanity Christy! Your chool looks great in French Linen and I bet it doesn’t last long in your booth either.

Thanks, Marie! If only I could just paint everything bright white and shabby it up, it would all sell in a heartbeat, but make for very boring makeovers to share lol! XOXO
