Have I got a super fun place card holder idea for your Christmas table today! Every year I host my family for Christmas Eve Dinner, and I always try to come up with a fun way to mark each person’s place at the table. This idea is what I did last year, but of course I couldn’t blog about it because I like my family to be surprised when they see what I’ve come up with!
Are you ready?
Drumroll…I made us all Santa’s little helpers!
How fun is that? Just look at my Hubby in his cute little elf shorts! And look how thin I am! My babies are pretty darn cute too.
I found photos of everyone (Facebook was a huge help here) and printed them on cardstock. Then I just cut out their heads leaving their necks in tact…
To find elf bodies in abundance, I just googled “elf costumes” and selected images and voila. I copied and pasted them all to a Word document and printed on cardstock as well.
A little glue pen action…
And my whole family has been transformed into Santa’s helpers! Come on, I’ll introduce you to everyone…
Here’s my parents:
My older sister and her family:
My younger sister and her family:
And my baby brother and his wife…
I sat them in these little ornament place card holders I found at Michaels.
I love this one of my brother…
And how about one more peek at my Hubby…that’s a pretty sexy outfit!
These were a huge hit at our Christmas dinner!
And there’s the candle holders I used in this year’s dining table centerpiece!
Don’t you think your guests would get a kick out of these?? My family always looks forward to seeing how I’ve sabotaged their favorite selfies!
UPDATE: Here’s another fun option:
They were also a big hit!
I hope you’re inspired to give your Christmas guests a good chuckle!

What a great idea Christy! I bet they look forward to seeing what you come up with each year.

They really do! I’ve also used the funniest pics I could find of everyone too, and they had a good laugh at each other’s pictures. 🙂

Those are THE absolute cutest thing ever!!!! LOL I love it…I bet they were a total hit!! Lots of laughter to follow! 😉 Can’t wait to see what you come up with this year. And …you have to tell me how you did the motion photo…cool!

Ha ha thanks! I did the Gif through Google+. It’s part of “auto awesome”. You have to allow them to back up your photos and any time they see a run of similar photos being backed up, they will automatically turn it into a gif for you! They also antiqued a tree photo of mine and added a border and it didn’t even look like my tree. I shared it on G+.

Where did you get the cute little elf bodies to put the faces on? I may just missing it.
Christy K. James says
Aren’t they so fun?? I did mention it, “To find elf bodies in abundance, I just googled “elves” and voila. I copied and pasted them all to a Word document and printed on cardstock as well.” But it is just a couple of lines, so easy to miss, but there you have it. Your guests will love them! I LOVE this! I’m going to do it for my family for Christmas Eve dinner. Quick (and probably stupid) question, but how do you get the ornaments to stay standing? I have little ball ornaments like the ones in your picture but they just topple over!
Christy K. James says
Hi Marisa! So glad you like these…my family laughed like crazy over them. They are sitting in place card holders that look like ornaments. I bought these at Michaels and I believe I saw them there again this year.
Marisa Iafolla says
OH! Got it. That’s the trick then 🙂 I’ll go back and check for those. Thank you!!
Christy K. James says
Sure! 🙂

Love these!! Question, how did you make sure the heads would fit on the elf bodies? My fear is that the heads will be huge compared to the bodies.
If I can figure it out, I’m so making these!
Christy K. James says
Hi Jessica! I copy and pasted the bodies and heads into a word document. Then I was able to adjust the sizes as I went to be sure they fit together. Have fun! This year I’m dressing my guests in ugly sweaters! 🙂

My 7 year old grandson wants to make these as ornaments, when I visit him at Thanksgiving. He selected “crafts” to make from Pinterest and I will take the necessary
parts. But most likely he would prefer that I play football with him-not gonna happen!
Will send husband to do that “craft”. This is the funniest craft- y’all are all so knockout!
Christy says
Glad ya’ll liked these! My family got a huge kick out of them, and they would be great as ornaments!
Ngaire says
How can we download the elf images to print? I love this idea.
Christy says
Hi Ngaire! I found the elf bodies by googling “elf costumes” and clicking on “images”. Hundreds of results will come up. Then I copied and pasted them to a word document and resized them to make them all similar sizes. I printed them out on cardstock and cut them out. I found many of my family members’ faces from their facebook photos, and did the same thing with them. Have fun!
