Hello all my décor enthusiast friends! If you are new around here, once a month I get together with a few blogging buddies to talk about décor. In the past we’ve shared our gallery walls, how we like to decorate using trays, tips for styling bookcases, and how we love to use baskets in our decor, just to name a few. We started this challenge last January by picking a space, and for three months we decorated it three different ways by shopping our homes. I chose my china hutch.
We decided to end the year with the same theme, one space three ways, as the perfect way to share some of our seasonal décor.
For this month, I decided to change out the mirror as well as the décor, to get it ready for Thanksgiving.
Here is the mirror as I found it, a total score from the thrift store for $24:
That’s more than I like to spend on a thrift store mirror, but with this elegantly carved frame, it was a real steal.
Yum yum yum! I debated whether or not to paint it, as I knew it would sell in my booth as is, so it sat in my dining room for FOREVER. Finally I decided that I just could not part with it, and so paint it was!
But first, here is a refresher of how my one space looked last month all set for Halloween:
Utterly spooktacular!
…And with my new freshly painted mirror!
It barely fits in this narrow space, but I just love it.
And this simple neutral vignette will carry me right through Thanksgiving.
I borrowed the arrangement from my Fall mantel.
I just stuck it in this larger mercury glass vase I scored on clearance at Target years ago. The tray is from Homegoods.
My five-year old picked out this perfect white pumpkin on his field trip to the pumpkin patch, so I just had to include it. Great choice, buddy!
Remember my fancy dessert dish candle sticks?
Oh yes I’m very fancy like that.
I used DIY chalk paint in a 50/50 mix of Cottage White (Behr) and Pure White and sealed with clear wax. If you ever have to paint a mirror, it’s worth taking the time to remove it from the frame rather than tape it off. That way you can paint the recessed area where the mirror fits in on the back side, so you won’t see the reflection of the unpainted backside.
Love those carved details!
So that’s my one space, a second way. Very simple! I’ll be back next month sharing it all decked out for Christmas!
My Décor Enthusiast Girls are sharing their one space a second way today also…with lot’s of ideas to welcome your Thanksgiving guests!

Beautiful mirror make-over. I love it. And it looks wonderful on that wall. I made your candlesticks when you first posted them and love mine too. They go with so many of accessories and add just the right touch often. Thanks Christy for all your great ideas.

My have those dessert dish candlesticks been transformed in multiple vignettes and they ALWAYS fit the theme perfectly. Love this pretty Fall vignette too and yes, the mirror looks so much better painted white Christy!
Christy K. James says

Love this mirror in white! Thanks for the tip to take the mirrror out for painting. I’ve got one that I need to paint and I probably would have tried to tape it had I not read this post. Love your challenges and hope to one day participate.
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Paula! Sometimes mirrors can be a bit of a pain to remove from the frame, but it does look better in the end. I hope your booth has been doing well. Mine has been a bit slow the past couple of months. Hoping it picks up with the Holidays coming! XO
Wendi @ H2OBungalow says

Christy K. James says
Thanks, Wendi! I loved that mirror, but had a hard time taking a brush to it. I’m so glad I finally did. 🙂

Thanks, Rebecca! XO
MaryJean says
Hi Christy, didn’t get a chance to comment on your table and chairs, but I loved it! It really looks great in your kitchen. Love this mirror too! Just found out today that the place where I wanted to rent a booth is going out of business! Yikes! Don’t know if there is any other places in the area.
Christy K. James says
Thanks, MaryJean! I was really pleased with how that set turned out and I ended up keeping the mirror. 🙂 Sorry to hear that place is going out of business…places to sell your things are scarce around here too. You would think they would do well!
MaryJean says
I found another place that is a little farther away from me, but not too far. I need a place that will handle all the selling, I just bring in my things and not buy from me or dictate my selling price. That narrows it down. Hope this one I found works out. Wish me luck!
MJ
Christy K. James says
Oh good, I hope this one works out! Keep me posted 🙂
Patti says
This is just lovely. I am wondering how you have attached the wreath to the mirror. Thanks!
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Patti! I used a small clear command hook. 🙂
