Hello my lovelies! As I confessed the other day, my dining table has been on a bit of an, er delay. Yes that’s what we’ll call it. I am now regrouping and have plan B all set to go. I found a fabulous fabric for the chairs that I shared on facebook, so I’m excited to get working on those this weekend as well!
Today I’m sharing a couple more easy frame upcycles. I put these together a few weeks ago when I was trying to gather some things to photograph for my application to the Christmas Market in my city. I just happened to have a bunch of frames on hand at the time.
(By the way, I was accepted woohoo I need to get my butt in gear and stop buying things for me that take up all of my time that I screw up and then take up more of my time when I should be building up inventory!!!) That was a mouthful.
Here she is:
Before, of course!
And after:
And here’s how we got there…
After removing the lovely art, I gave this frame one coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Graphite, followed by a coat of ASCP in Pure White:
This is the result after a bit of sanding:
Next I cut my metal grate insert. I used the same leftover grate that I used on my spice cabinet.
We ordered this online, but I have seen something similar sold in sheets at Home Depot.
I used my staple gun to attach it to the inside of the frame.
Next I cut a piece of cardboard to fit the opening and covered it with fabric that I had left over from my parson’s chairs.
I attached this piece behind the grate using my staple gun, making sure to place them on an angle to avoid hitting the metal insert.
All that was left was to cover the ugly back with some brown craft paper and add a hanger doodad.
Pretty cute, eh?
I like this Idea because there are some things you just don’t want to poke holes in…like this…
Did you read their shirts? They’ll still be saying this ten years from now!
To make my magnets, I used these sweet wood cut outs I found at Michaels. They were unfinished to start. I also used them for napkin rings in my sweet Spring table setting.
I found the frame at a thrit store for $1.25. I already had everything else. Pretty darn cute for $1.25.
Here’s another quickie before and after:
Dated thrift store picture…

Hope you enjoyed these fun upcycles!

What a great way to make magnets work. That made me think that something metal could also go under the fabric for the magnets to cling to. Thanks for the inspiration.
