Hi sweet Friends! Today I’m sharing easy and fun snowman ornaments made from mason jar lids! This is a project I created for a blog I contributed to last year.
I had bought two cases of mason jars to hold tea lights for our Halloween Display on Halloween night last year, and I just couldn’t bring myself to throw away the lids. I saved them in a bag just in case an idea for them struck and whadya know? One did!
Here’s a cute idea using them for ornaments:
I made the faces from scraps of a vintage chenille bedspread that I used to make this Christmas Tree Pillow for my Secret Santa last year. (It was ripped already.)
Making them was simple. Here’s what you’ll need:
I spray painted the rings white to start. For fun, I added some buffalo snow to one of the rings immediately after spray painting:
I left the others plain, but sanded one. I think I like that one the best!
There’s really no big instruction needed here, but here’s a step-by-step in photos just in case:
I used a stylus to paint in the details on the faces. I used a Pigma Micron Pen (affiliate link) to draw in the smiles on two of them. These pens are perfect for writing on fabric because they don’t bleed. I actually love to write with them as well.
To hang them, I added ribbon to one with hot glue, and strung clear glass beads on fine fishing line for the other two. I also attached those with hot glue.
Coordinating black ribbon tied in a bow finishes them off.
I think the chenille bedspread fabric gives them a nostalgic feel, but you could use any type of fabric.
Here’s another fun Christmas project I made last year that would fit this month’s theme, a very inexpensive project for Christmas…DIY Sweater Stockings:
I made these from sweaters I rescued from my Goodwill donation bag!
And here’s what I made from those scraps:
