Hello my dear friends. Today I’m sharing my courtyard all decked out for Christmas as part of the Welcome Home Christmas Tour.
I’m not sure if you’d call it a courtyard really, but we honestly don’t have a better name for it so courtyard it is!
We live at the beginning of a busy street, so this space offers a little privacy from the neighbors.
This is a perfect spot to sit in the morning when the weather is nice.
We are also very close to our neighbors as you can see…
That’s the side of their house behind the stone wall. Luckily my neighbors are awesome! (It’s a small price to pay to be a mile from the beach!)
It was drizzling pretty much the whole day I shot these photos, but it really adds to the wintry feel. I know it felt wintry! (See how I made the Faux Fresh Greenery Arrangement here.)
My youngest and I have cupcake dates here. It’s fun to him, and I don’t have to pick cake out of the carpet.
Behind the French doors is our dining room. I shoot a lot of my photos for projects there because of all the light the doors let in. You can see a table behind them…it holds my Christmas Village.
This is the DIY Christmas Twig Wreath I made last year. I just added a fresh bow and it’s good as new!
Love this little woodland Santa. He looks like he’s carved of wood, but he’s ceramic.
When the sun begins to set and the lights start to twinkle, everything is so cozy…
And that’s our Christmas Courtyard!
Want to know why it’s so special?
This is where my Hubby and I were married!
This is my son escorting me. He was seven, and so excited to be a part of our special ceremony.
We were married the day after Christmas.
It was perfect. 🙂
I already shared my “Two Turtle Doves” Christmas Wreath and mantel…
Next week I’ll share the rest of the inside…
(BAM! See my indoor Christmas Tour here now!)
I love Christmas tours. It’s fun to see how everybody decorates!

Christy, it’s so beautiful!
First of all, I love the fact that you only live one mile from the beach. So awesome.
Second, I love the fact that you have a “courtyard’. Also awesome.
Third, I love love love the fact that you got married there! The MOST awesome!!!
Finally, you really did do a great job on everything. The sign, the Santa, all the greenery and lights!
Your house would be the house that I would drive by and catch a glimpse of the decor and think “man, I wish I could take a closer look!”
(I’m not the only one who does this right?)
Thanks so much for sharing and I look forward to seeing the inside!
Have a super day!
Christy K. James says
You are so sweet, Luisa! Thank you! And I’m a peeker too lol 🙂
Heather @ Viral Upcycle says
Very beautiful Christy,
Lovely wedding photos and thanks for sharing youre special place. It drizzled here in Williamsburg all day too, I didnt even make it out more than to get my son from school. You’re a trooper. Oh, and where did you get that deer? Love it!
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Heather! I thought the drizzle would never stop. It slowed to a slight spitting rain long enough for me to take pictures. I found the deer t TJ Maxx 🙂
Nancy@ Artsy Chicks Rule says

Wow!! You always blow me away! I’m glad you don’t live in my neighborhood! lol!!
Actually, Christy, if you were in my neighborhood … I’d enlist your help to tweak my decorations.
Really warm and inviting!
Christy K. James says
Ha and I’d be happy to help! Thanks so much, Carolyn 🙂 XOXO
Carolyn Price says
Ummmm … let me guess! You created your beautiful wedding dress, right? And sewed it yourself, as well?
Well, I would certainly accept your assistance, Christy, if I were fortunate enough to live in your area. We would start with my yard first! lol!!
You seem like a lovely person … I think we would laugh more than we actually accomplished!!
Christy K. James says
Ha ha, goodness no! I left that to Dillards. I saw this dress with the dark red and thought it would be perfect for a Christmas wedding! I think you are right…we probably wouldn’t get very far for goofing off! 🙂
Carolyn Price says
Well, I wouldn’t have been surprised if you had sewn it! That sounds like you! : )
Robin All Things Heart and Home says

Sue Farmer says
Just gorgeous!! And your wedding must have been beautiful!! I love Christmas time too.
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Sue! This was my second time around and I wanted to elope! Since it was my hubby’s first wedding, he really wanted his family there so it was just our families and at our home…perfect. 🙂
Sue Farmer says
My husband and I have been married almost 15 yrs. My second, his first. We went to Vegas and got married at a beautiful chapel . I know what you mean about not a BIG wedding this time(But we got it right this time)
Sue Farmer says
You and me I meant LOL
Christy K. James says
Yes, Sue! We both got it right this time for sure! My low key wedding was every bit as memorable as my first high-budget one! We were only surrounded by family this time around…but going to Vegas had to be so much fun!
Sue Farmer says
It was!! Have you ever been? It is something everyone should experience at least once!!
Christy K. James says
My husband and I went a few years ago and had a great time!
Marie@The Interior Frugalista says
Beautifully decorated courtyard Christy and how special that you were married there during the holidays (love your dresss with the festive pop of red BTW). So sweet that you share special cupcake moments there with your son (he’ll remember those always). I’m crushing on your gate turned sign – very nice! Thank you for taking us on your tour 🙂
Christy K. James says
Thanks for your sweet words as always, Marie! I found that sign thingy at a craft fair years ago and have tweaked it a few times since. 🙂
Paula@SweetPea says

Such a beautiful spot. And the perfect place for a small, intimate wedding! It looks beautiful now as it does in your wedding photos. Lovely home for a lovely lady!
Christy K. James says
You are so sweet, Angie…thank you! It really was just perfect. The weather had been really cold that week and on that Saturday, it got up to about 60 degrees out of no where, so we were blessed with beautiful weather too! Have a great weekend. 🙂
Anne says
WOW your courtyard is so beautiful and dreamy! Love how you decorated it for Christmas and how cool that you were married there! What beautiful memories!
Christy K. James says

Absolutely gorgeous, Christy!!! What a grand entrance. All the touches are just so welcoming. Your special night was beautiful. We were married on he 27th.

Thanks so much, Christy!! I loved having a Christmas wedding 🙂
Sue P. says
So, so pretty! What a lovely courtyard you have tucked away from the hubbub of the neighborhood. Your decorations are beautiful as is your house!
I’m sitting here with a broken leg, so we decided not to decorate inside this year. My husband put up outside lights, but it was just going to be too much trouble to do the inside and we’ll be gone much of the holiday period anyway.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Sue P.
Christy K. James says
Thanks so much, Sue! Sorry to hear about your leg. As pretty as everything looks when decorated, it is a lot of work. At least you won’t have to take any decorations down either. 🙂
