Hi my sweet friends and welcome to makeover day #17! I gave you a BIG reveal yesterday, but today I’ll be sharing a tiny one! This was a simple makeover that anyone can do!
This past Summer, I happened upon the yard sale of the biggest owl collector there ever was. Seriously I’ve never seen so many owls amassed in one location. One of the owls spoke to me. Well not really, that would be creepy! But I just had to bring this little guy home with me…for all of 10¢.
Look at those sweet big eyes! Isn’t he a cutie?
I ended up sticking him in the garage. Then one day while I was trying to organize out there (a never-ending battle!), I found him again. I was also spray painting hardware at the same time and decided why not spray him too!
Peekaboo! Okay I do miss the sad eyes a tiny bit, but now he’s updated and bright!
I originally painted him in satin since that’s what I was using on the knobs I was painting, but ended up going over it with gloss.
He’s still cute, right?
You might have seen him on the bottom shelf of this server I shared recently.
I’m pretty sure he didn’t mind being spray-painted because now he gets to live in the house.
I kind of wish I had bought a few more of those owls now. They would be fun all painted and lined up on a shelf or a window ledge.
This may have been a tiny makeover, but it made a big difference!
Don’t be grabbing all of Grandma’s figurines now!
I’ll be back tomorrow sharing the simple way I chose to update this table:
UPDATE: See it HERE now!
XO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!

You’re really getting my creative juices going. I’m looking at furniture and accessories in a whole different way. I’m going to miss your daily projects when they’re over!

I’m so happy to hear I am rubbing off on you ha ha!!! I’ll be honest, I’ll miss posting every day too…if only I could keep it up and keep my sanity. 🙂
Heather @ Viral Upcycle says
That’s so cute! I love the white. I just recently bought a similar owl (without the huge eyes) at CHKD thrift. Can’t wait to transform like that. Great find!
Christy K. James says
It will be so cute too! This would also be fun in a pretty aqua color! 🙂
Marie@The Interior Frugalista says
He’s still a cutie painted white! Those big eyes would have drawn me in too.
Christy K. James says
I hesitated for a minute painting him, because of those sweet eyes, but oh well. He’s a keeper now. 🙂
Paul @ eco stores says
He doesn’t really look wise, just slightly pleased with himself…Great blog.
Christy K. James says
Ha ha I think you’re right!

I should have bought the whole lot for you and sent them to you…I forgot your slight own obsession. 🙂

He is cute and a good save. I must have missed something…..are you leaving blogging? Or cutting back on posts? I hope it’s just reducing your output and not the other….dreading the other.
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Dee! You must have gotten that idea from the comments? I’ve been posting a thrifty makeover every day this month and were just talking about missing being here every day. I’ll be back to my regular 2-3 posts/week. You can’t get rid of me that easily…I love nurturing this lil blog. 🙂
Dee says
Yes, I mis-understood the comment. Glad I was wrong. Thanks.
Christy K. James says
Me too 🙂
