How to Make This Adorable Pillow

The pillow I made was 20" wide X 16" tall.  Any measurements included in these instructions are based on this pillow. I made my pillow form about an inch smaller all the way around. It's bulk will still fill the finished pillow in nicely.  If you prefer to use a ready made form, just skip those steps.     Now just turn your pillow right side out and insert your pillow form. Voila! Pretty...and FREE!   … [Read more...]

How I Destroyed and Rebuilt My Sectional

How many of you were so excited about finding just the perfect sectional only to realize that once you got it home or lived with it a while, it was not the perfect seating choice after all?  Pick me, pick me (as my husband always says when he has the answer), me! I shopped for what seemed like forever for just the perfect sectional sofa, and I thought I had found just the one. I imagined we would all be lounging around on it together in our jammies under blankets watching movies.  The reality … [Read more...]

Townsfolk of Christmas Towne are Missing!

I am about to start packing up my Christmas Towne but before I do I thought I would share what the townsfolk have been up to or rather the journey they took to Brennanville.  That would be the town in which my two year-old, Brennan is the Mayor. First, here is a look at the very snowy but peaceful Christmas Towne.         Ok so life is pretty good in Christmas Towne. But quite often the townsfolk mysteriously disappear... ...to … [Read more...]

What should you do with your old gate? Don’t throw it away!

Last Summer, my neighbors were having a new fence put up.  One day while the installers were working, I happened to head out to the mailbox just as they were leaving for lunch.  They had left a huge pile of old fence parts at the end of the driveway.  And there it was...just gleaming in all its glory...this beautiful gate: I had to think fast. I grabbed my son who was nine at the time and had him help me haul it into the garage. I had no idea what I was going to do with it ( I was … [Read more...]

How to Make an Illuminated Holiday Sign

The most important component of our Santa's Workshop is the sign that let's everyone know what it is.  Making the sign was pretty easy and would be a fun addition to any outdoor holiday display so I thought I'd share how I made it!  It's not too late to make one for this year.  After all, most of us keep our Holiday lights up until at least New Years, right? What you'll need: 3/8" ply wood (thick enough to be sturdy but not so thick that the lights won't show through the other side) … [Read more...]

Fun and Inexpensive Bathroom Art

When our master bathroom redo was nearly complete, I started shopping around for something to hang on the walls.  I had a difficult time finding just what I wanted so I decided to create something more personal to adorn our walls.  My baby boy was the inspiration. We had newborn photos taken at our home and the photographer captured all sorts of body parts that were so cute on film.  I thought it would be fun to take photos of different parts of all of our bodies to frame (rated G, of course).  … [Read more...]
