The Easiest Way to Water Your Garden

I recently shared a very detailed post on how to create a landscape from scratch.  I wanted to talk about watering your garden in a separate post so I could go into a bit more detail. I can't stress how important it is to provide your garden with the water it needs to stay healthy. We are all guilty of purchasing plants or flowers in a feel good moment the minute warm weather declares  it's here to stay, only to neglect them once the real heat rolls in...when they need us the most. My … [Read more...]

New Life for Outdated Frames

You see, I have this problem. It's with my car, actually. Every Monday, after my cleaning is done (Monday is my cleaning day), I sit and make a quick menu of what we are going to eat for the week. Then I make a list of what I need to buy and head to the grocery store. But instead of heading right to the grocery store, my doggone car keeps taking a detour into the Food Lion parking lot (this is not the grocery store I am aiming for)...which just happens to have a Good Will next … [Read more...]

How to Create a Landscape from Scratch

I have really enjoyed sharing my landscaping makeovers and hearing all of the awesome feedback. It was a lot of hard work that is really paying off.  I love my outdoor space. I have been asked several questions about my makeovers with the most frequent one being, "How did I know what plants to buy?" First I am going to share with you how I came up with my landscape plan and the work that went into creating my planting beds.  After all, you can't plant anything until the beds are ready, … [Read more...]

Back Yard Makeover

This is where our entire landscape transformation began. My husband came home one frosty January day and said, "I hear if you want trees removed, this is the time to do it."  I think he barely  got the words out of his mouth before I was on the phone setting up estimates.  We had thirteen trees removed from our itty bitty back yard. Most of them were gumballs. We had always dreamed of having a yard where our kids could run and play in the grass; laughing as they hurdled the sprinkler.  … [Read more...]

Front Yard Transformation

I am  really excited to share my outdoor makeover  with you.  I spent a lot of time online looking for inspiration for this project. I was basically starting from scratch. This was before Pinterest came into my life! I wanted a garden, not just a carefree landscape which is what I kept finding in my searches.  I am sharing this early enough in the season so that someone might find some inspiration for their own yard.  However, because my garden is still a bit sleepy and just waking … [Read more...]

This is my new and improved side yard:  Want to see the before? Okay, … [Read more...]

Sweet Spring Table Setting

Today is the first day of Spring, so it's a perfect day to share a Sweet Spring  Table with you.  Actually it's freezing outside and calling for possible snow today,  but we can pretend it's sunny and warm, okay? I found the cutest little unfinished birdcages at Michaels this weekend and although I had no idea what I was going to use them for, I bought some anyway!  Then last night, while I was trying to go to sleep, I got the idea to use them to make napkin rings! Here is how they turned … [Read more...]

Thrift Store Box Gets a Makeover

Hello friends!  I have a cute little makeover to share with you today. I found this box at the thrift store last week for $2: Of course it didn't look like this when I bought it...it looked like this:  It was pretty beat up. But I adopted it, welcomed it into my home, and gave it a new life. I used the tiny bit of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old white that I had left and gave it two coats. Then I taped off a chevron pattern...  And painted over the tape in a mix of old white and … [Read more...]

Side Table Goes Provence

Do you love aqua as much as I do? Yes? You can be my new BFF.  No? That's okay, I love you anyway:) I really love aqua.  If it's the right shade, I want it.  It could be a doggy bowl in just the right shade and I don't own a dog...but I'm really liking the look of that bowl.  Of course it  would not come home with me...but you get my drift. I have really been itching to paint a piece of furniture in my beloved favorite color and I found just the piece. Customer Appreciation … [Read more...]

Big Boy Bedroom on a Budget Reveal

My big boy is really only two and a half, but he will grow to be a big boy in this room. We knew it was time to take down his crib after a recent successful out of town experience in a big boy bed.  Plus, he is really big for a two year old and  needed a bigger bed. We moved him into his big brother, Jack's old room.  This is how the room looked before we switched rooms: And here is the Big Boy Brennan version: I kept the same theme that was in his … [Read more...]
