By now you know when I say “reclaimed wood” I’m not talking about century old barn wood right? It’s just a fancy name for old fence pickets I found on the side of the road lol. As in this pile of pickets I found on the side of the road:
Okay technically it was in a cul-de-sac in a neighborhood I was yard sale hopping in. See said yard sale in the back ground? “No thanks, I don’t want to buy anything you are selling, but can I have this pile of trash?” Ha ha. This sounds a lot like the story with the wood I used for my All of Me Sign, right? Same scenario…different day ha ha. I actually did buy a tall white dresser from this one to use in my son’s room, haven’t gotten to that project yet.
Of course I did not take the whole pile, in fact I barely made a dent in it, but if I had room to store it I probably would have. People love anything made out of old pieces of wood y’all.
What I am sharing today has already sold, and it was so super simple to put together:
Seriously you could use this in any room of the house.
The hardware came from Hobby Lobby, except for the glass knob (which I didn’t use). Did you know Hobby Lobby rotates a lot of their sale items week to week, so knobs are 50% off every other week. So I know if I need several and one 40% off coupon won’t cut it, I’ll just come back the following week and they’ll be on sale. I believe these were around $5 for the three.
I cut the picket to length and then sanded the surface and edges smooth. Then I white washed the surface like I showed here.
I spray painted the hardware in Rustoleum’s Robin’s Egg blue:
(That was a silver wire basket I was spraying for my laundry room.)
When they were dry, I sanded them a bit and then I just screwed them in place and added hanging hardware to the back!
See? So simple!
Love the hardware in this pretty color…
I decided last minute to switch out the glass knob for this pretty one that looks like a clock (also from Hobby Lobby):
Thanks for dropping by, lovely Friends! I love when you visit!! 😀

Haha! I love your version of yard saleing……way better…..I would do the same thing. I love the colour you painted the hardware too, looks way cuter than the original.

Ha ha free stuff is way better, right? Two weekends ago I stopped by the first yard sale of the day and there was a dresser smashed to bits on their curb along with three perfectly good drawers. I took those too lol. They’ll become something eventually. 🙂

I love this! I have a few ideas rolling around in my head for signs and shelves, but I’m trying to knock out my bigger projects first while the weather is still nice.
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Susan! I spend a lot of time working on the bigger pieces too these days, but it’s fun every once in a while to play around with smaller pieces like this. 🙂

Love it!! I am going to make a trip to hobby lobby today!! I have a few projects that need hooks
Did you pre drill holes first?
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Mary! The wood wasn’t nearly as hard as new wood, so I didn’t need to pre drill. 🙂

Merci, Renee! 🙂

Lovely, as usual. Your style is so easy to live with which is why you sell things as soon as you put them out. Love the light blue color also.
Christy K. James says
Thank you, Carole! I love that blue too. 🙂

No surprise this already sold because it’s so stink’n cute! Are you planning on making loads of them for your booth with all those pickets? Nice score BTW.
Christy K. James says
Ha ha thanks, Marie! I probably should since it sold so fast, huh? 🙂
