Hey there, amazing Friends! It’s day # 30 y’all, and this party is just about come to a close. It has been a fun month of thrifty goodness, and I hope I’ve inspired you tackle a few projects of your own!
Today I’m sharing how I repurposed this French provincial headboard:
Those beautiful curvy lines get me every time!
I decided that this would look so pretty in a bathroom holding towels…
Don’t you think?
This is Annie Sloan’s French Linen mixed with about one third Pure White. I dry brushed it with Pure white, and sealed with Annie Sloan’s clear soft wax.
The center panel was just begging for something and I originally thought chalkboard, but decided to create this pretty graphic instead.
After creating in Photoshop Elements, I uploaded it to Blockposters.com and printed it out. Then I used the old-school method of transferring graphics…
Then I painted them in with black acrylic paint and a script brush.
After making sure it was thoroughly dry, I lightly sanded across the surface to smooth out any raised areas…
The hooks came from Hobby Lobby, but of course I spray painted them. 🙂
I’ve got one more thrifty makeover on the way to close out this seriously fun March Madness series.
Tomorrow I’ll be sharing what I used this shower curtain for:

I couldn’t wait till today arrived cause I was so curious on what you had planned for the headboard. and so very functional. No, wall space in my bath but it sure would be great to hang in my entry way.
As for the shower curtain; I’m thinking maybe chair cushion covers
Christy K. James says
I’m glad you weren’t disappointed ha ha! I wish I had an entry space for this…I think that would be a fantastic spot for it. As for the shower curtain…here’s a hint…I didn’t sew anything. ????????

I love this series. I am sure you are ready for a break but it is such fun to see what you come up with each day.
Christy K. James says
Thank you, Debra!! I am ready for a break, but I have so enjoyed this series as well! XOXO
Ange says
Thank you, it’s been a month of amazing transformations. If everyone would try to repurpose their no longer wanted furniture and household things the land fills would be less full. Certainly a win-win for the environment and us.
Christy K. James says
You are so welcome, Ange!! And yes…there is still life left in a lot of these older pieces!! XO
Angelia says
This is beautiful. I am currently working on a headboard. Great inspiration!!! I am sooo going to miss waking up to your posts every morning! I have really enjoyed this series of makeovers.
One questions. Would the adhesive letters/numbers have the same effect on projects as the vinyl letters you use from the machine? Meaning on your tray and foot stool you did with numbers.
Thanks!!!!
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Angelia!! I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed this series!! I bet you could use stickers? Maybe try it on a test piece? XO
Ann williams says

The headboard makeover looks so great! I’ve never heard of blockposters before, I checked it out… how fun!
Based on what you’ve done with all the other projects I have to say… I have no idea what you’re planning for the shower curtain! lol! But I’ll take a wild guess and say you’re going to use it to upholster something.
Tania
Christy K. James says
Thank you so much, Tania! Blockposters is awesome for enlarging graphics! Upholstery for the shower curtain huh? We shall see. ????
Kathie says

Christy K. James says
Thanks again! It is really fun for me to look back at them all. Glad you’ve enjoyed them too! ????
Maryjean says
Christy, you have so many great ideas! You inspire me! I’m a little bummed because I can’t find a place to sell my furniture pieces. I did sell a small table in my Etsy shop, but unfortunately I can’t sell anything too big because of shipping costs.
I might have a way of opening my own physical shop if I can work something out with my son. Since I work full-time I need someone to be there for me. What I’m thinking might just benefit both of us. We will see if we can make it work. Anyway, keep the inspirations coming! I love it!
Christy K. James says
Thank you so much, Maryjean! I do have a place to sell, but my overhead isn’t cheap so I have to sell well to make it worth it. I would love to have my own shop also! I hope you can work that out with your son! XO
Rose L. says
Ooooo, Love it! Never would have thought of that! Most make benches!!
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Rose! If this had a footboard, I might have considered a bench too, but it was destined for something else. 🙂
Gail D. says
Your son is too cute!
I am looking for a headboard to make into a towel holder in my master bath and for a buffet or dresser for my media center in the living room. However, I think I’ll have to move to the Deep South again–everything here is 3 times as expensive as everyone else can get them! I will keep looking tho–not ready to give up yet!
Christy says
Thanks, Gail! Some of the stores around here charge way too much as well. There are a couple that price very fairly, so those are the ones I stick to! Good luck in your search! 🙂
