This really is a sweet little table that I’m sharing today. It’s also another piece I acquired from Omi. You can read more about her and her pretty sewing box makeover here.
It was built by someone in her family many years ago.
Here is the before:
A diamond in the rough! I thought it would be the perfect little table for my downstairs bathroom.
This is the bathroom our visitors use. My husband retiled it from floor to ceiling before I came along. Although it’s beautiful, it needed something to soften it a bit.
I think this did the trick!
I always get the feeling that life is good when I’m sitting on the throne.
Did you notice that hydrangea goodness?
I just can’t get enough of them. They’ll be brown and crispy before you know it, so I have to take advantage of them as long as I can. The colors just get more amazing as the season progresses!
I usually like the vintage charm of older handles. This one was seriously lacking in the charm department. I filled in the old holes with wood putty and added this pretty glass knob.
This is DIY chalk paint in Behr’s Cottage White with a coat of Annie Sloan’s clear wax.
I lined the drawer with pretty liner I found at TJ Maxx. I used the same liner for the drawer in my harlequin side table I shared recently. I prefer not to paint the actual drawer to prevent the drawer from sticking. (I may or may not have learned this the hard way.)
The liner makes the drawer pretty without having to paint it.
Of course Brennan decides he really has to wash his hands…right now.
Come on in little buddy. Can I take your picture? Guess where I’m sitting? 🙂
I love you, paint. Thanks for bringing so much joy to my life!
That’s my story, y’all. I’m always thrilled when you stop by! If you need to use the bathroom while you’re here it’s the first door on the left. Try not to drool on my hydrangeas. 🙂
XO,
Don’t miss a thing!
If you like what you see, there are several ways to follow along!

Ok, the table is adorable but your little guy totally stole the show! Too cute! 🙂
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Pam! He likes to follow me around, so he makes it into just about every other post! As for the no-reply blogger status…I’m told it’s a WordPress thing and I’m stuck with it. Sorry 🙁 Thanks so much for letting me know, though 🙂
Pam @ Simple Details says
Sorry, I forgot I popped over to let you know you’re showing up as ‘no-reply’ 🙁

Too cute! Nice call on the glass knob. I also love that little stool–I’ve been looking for something similar at thrift stores for a while now but so far no luck:(
Christy K. James says
Thanks,Eva! I couldn’t believe someone hadn’t snatched that little stool up…and I like it just the way it is which is a big deal cause I like to paint everything! Good luck in your search 🙂
At Rivercrest Cottage says
I may have learned that “do not paint the drawer” lesson the hard way too. Your little guy is so cute. It really made the post.

He steals the show in real life too…and I don’t mind at all! Thanks for visiting! 🙂

JaneEllen says
First of all your little guy is so precious. I looked at his little arms with the dimples. They are so wonderful. Yeah I know I’m not his Mom but I had 2 boys 16 months apart and so wish I could do it again, be a better Mother.
Love your little table, it is very sweet. Tables like yours are so versatile and very handy. That reminds me of a little table we have out in our shed, think it’s time it had some use. I feel bad for it being out there all this time.
Love the paint job you gave her and the knob is gorgeous also. You could make her even more useful if you put a shelf on bottom rungs. Just saying, sorry. Happy days ahead.
Christy K. James says
Oh I never thought of adding a shelf! Super clever! I know what you mean about boys hitting a place in your heart. I have two boys, no girls…I think little boys are so sweet 🙂 Have a great day, JaneEllen! XO
Julie says
Lovely touch, Shame you didn’t keep the original drawer pull and sprayed it black, it would have picked out the tile detail of the floor, but the glass knob is pretty too 🙂
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Julie! I never thought to paint the old one. Maybe I’ll reuse it for another piece 🙂
