French Graphics Revive a $5 Yard Sale Find

Hey everyone! If you follow me on Facebook, you may have seen the goodies I found on my first official yard saling day this season. Can you believe I have been able to hold myself back this long?? My garage and I aren't exactly on speaking terms right now, so I've had to cut back. I have stopped by a couple of yard sales here and there on the way to where I was supposed to be going, but this was my first day of saying, "To heck with it!" and setting out to shop for bargains! I found two dated … [Read more...]

Old Thrift Store Frames Become New Treasures

One of my favorite spaces to decorate is a bathroom.  It's a small space so even on a tight budget, you can make it great.  You can have fun with it too, and it doesn't even have to match the rest of the house, especially in a kid's bathroom! Our Get Your DIY On party is coming up this Sunday and this month's theme is Room Revamps. We redid our boys' bathroom before I started blogging, and because my sister and her family were coming in town, I quickly threw stuff up on the walls.  I've made … [Read more...]

DIY Coastal Inspired Bathroom Art

I've been working on my boys' bathroom since 2011. We pulled everything out except for the tub surround,  and replaced it all. It was just before Christmas and I had my sister and her family coming to stay with us, so I rushed to get it finished. I've tweaked it a bit and redone several things for it like this stool, and this shelf, and this chair.  However, it needed just a couple more finishing touches. Today I'm sharing the DIY bathroom art I made to match the coastal feeling of the … [Read more...]

Sweet Little Table Redo

This really is a sweet little table that I'm sharing today. It's also another piece I acquired from Omi. You can read more about her and her pretty sewing box makeover here. It was built by someone in her family many years ago. Here is the before: A diamond in the rough! I thought it would be the perfect little table for my downstairs bathroom. This is the bathroom our visitors use. My husband retiled it from floor to ceiling before I came along.  Although it's beautiful, it … [Read more...]

How to Transfer Letters Old School Style

I love to create signs and add graphics to my furniture pieces.  Today I'm sharing with you how I do it. There are a lot of ways to add words/graphics to a project with all the awesome cutting machines and fancy stencils circulating out there.  When I want to add a little something extra to my pieces, I have to use what I have on hand which sadly, does not include awesome cutting machines or fancy stencils.  So,  I transfer them old school style. Transferring to Lighter Surfaces: Step … [Read more...]

Fun and Inexpensive Bathroom Art

When our master bathroom redo was nearly complete, I started shopping around for something to hang on the walls.  I had a difficult time finding just what I wanted so I decided to create something more personal to adorn our walls.  My baby boy was the inspiration. We had newborn photos taken at our home and the photographer captured all sorts of body parts that were so cute on film.  I thought it would be fun to take photos of different parts of all of our bodies to frame (rated G, of course).  … [Read more...]

Master Bathroom Redo

This is the transformation that took place in our master bathroom.  Our house was built in the 1980's and this is definitely proof of that!   This is our not so awesome 1980's bathroom before: Gold fixtures, anyone? The vanity used to be outside the bathroom.   I know its ugly, right?! And why yes, that is a bidet in the foreground!   What? Doesn't everyone have two bathtubs in their bathroom? And how about that "spa" feel? Nice! The best thing about … [Read more...]
