French/Shabby Chic Décor Lover’s Gift Guide

Hello lovely Friends!! Last month my Décor Enthusiast girls and I decided instead of sharing our décor, we would give it away, and we had so much fun with it. Six awesome prizes got six new homes. This month we decided again to do something a little different. Instead of sharing our décor, we are sharing shopping guides for some of our favorite décor pieces and gift ideas on the web! I tried to find pieces that reflected my own home and the things I love, or would love to purchase myself. I … [Read more...]

Romantic Flatware Box Makeover

It seems like there are a couple of items that I just can't seem to pass up when I go thrifting. One of them is frames, and the other is flatware boxes. It wouldn't be March Madness if I didn't share a bit of both. Today's makeover my sweet Friends, #21...can you believe it??, is this flatware box I picked up for $5: I loved the curvy lines. How could I not shove this in my cart immediately for only $5? I decided to give this one a bit of a romantic feel: And for the romance … [Read more...]

French Linen Shelf

Hello sweet Friends! I've got a quick little makeover for you today! I found this shelf at the thrift store a couple of weeks ago hiding in the toy section: Luckily I can spot a potential makeover a mile away! :) Blue tags were half off that day, so this cost me less than $2, and I liked the shape of it. I did check first to see if the Winnie the Pooh paper would come off easily and it was adhesive, so luckily it peeled right off... and became this: Ooh la la. Much … [Read more...]

Petite French Chair (& How to Fix a Broken Seat)

Bonjour mes amis! Ready for Themed Furniture Thursday? It's about time for a makeover anyway, right? I've been spending so much time lately on my Fall décor! Can you  guess what this month's theme is? If you guessed French, you would be right! I have painted many French graphics on pieces over the years, but for this challenge, I chose a chair and I chose not to paint graphics. Here is the chair I chose: I found it a couple of weekends ago when all furniture was 20% off at one of my … [Read more...]

Fabric Inlaid Mirror

Are you up for a thrifty makeover today? Well I hope so because that's exactly what I'm sharing! I found this very dated mirror for $8 at the thrift store a few weeks back: Immediately when I saw it, I imagined fabric in the panel on top. First I removed the mirror and painted the frame in DIY chalk paint in Cottage White by Behr. Bye bye ugly mirror! I gave it three coats, then sanded the edges a bit. Then I sealed it with Minwax paste wax. This was my first time using … [Read more...]

Three French Trays

Bonjour!  It's day #12 of my March Madness series, and I am all about lovely French graphics today! I picked up this set of three trays at the thrift store a long long time ago: I paid about $13 dollars for all three, but aside from the broken handle on one of them, they were in perfect condition. I made these over to sell at my last Christmas Market show. They got a  fresh new attitude! They were painted with my favorite DIY Chalky paint recipe (using Cottage White by … [Read more...]

French Secretary Desk

Welcome to Themed Furniture Thursday, where I and several other furniture redoers make over a piece of furniture to fit a different theme each month! This month's theme is "Inspired By". I'll share how I was inspired a little further down. First, check out this piece I found at my local Goodwill last spring: Pretty, right? I originally walked out of the store without it and headed to another thrift store down the road a bit. When I got there, I saw the saddest secretary desk, very … [Read more...]

Desk with French Graphics

Yay! It's Themed Furniture Thursday!  A bunch of us crazy DIY girls get together once a month to share a furniture makeover. The catch is that everyone's makeovers have to follow a theme! This month's theme is "Words/Letters".  I immediately went to my go-to for graphics...the Graphics Fairy, and this is what I came up with: Can you see the graphics? They're on top! I found this desk at an estate sale a few weeks ago at this cute little cottage that was about 6 houses from the … [Read more...]
