Hello lovely Friends!
On Thursday I shared this sweet little bookcase that got a whole lot more character with some paint and the addition of these old fence pickets I white-washed:
I had to take apart the fence section I had in order to do it and was left with three of these pieces:
Of course you know I can’t throw anything away, so I decided to white-wash one of them along with the pickets for the back of the shelf.
Then as I was digging around my garage, I found these numbers I picked up on clearance at Michaels a couple of months ago, and these primitive nails that I bought, seriously about 15 years ago, but never did use:
And created this:
Fun wall art! Take a number…Mama’s busy! 🙂
The original numbers included a 1, 3, 7, and 9, but I painted over the seven and nine to make them a two and a four. I used my silhouette to help make them, but you can easily use this method if you don’t own a silhouette.
These nails were perfect for this. I bought them forever ago to make a coat rack of sorts with them but never did.
This would be fun in a kitchen hanging on the end of the cabinets, or any narrow space you need a little something for.
I borrowed a few things from the gallery wall above my bed to stage it here in my bedroom.
Hope you enjoyed this quick project! I have two more of these cross pieces from the fence that I need to find a use for, maybe they’ll become signs. We’ll see!
If you like the character that reclaimed wood adds to simple pieces, you’ll enjoy this one too:

Meet me back here on Thursday…I’ll be sharing how I made over this kid’s table and chairs:
See you then!

What a clever idea, I would never have thought about doing that to a scrap piece of wood. That’s why you’re the master at making treasures out of ordinary things.

Aww thanks, Ange! ????

Love it Christy! I love decorating with numbers and letters. I wonder why that is. Isn’t it neat how you can hold onto things for a really long time(like the nails) and then you have the perfect use for them. And you know what caught my eye was the letter J in the oval frame. Cool and then I think . . . hmmm, I’ve got some letters. Now what about a frame. Thanks for the inspiration! You make things seem doable.

Thanks!! I’m so glad you were inspired, Joanne! I’m also so glad I finally found a use for those nails…I usually find a use just after I’ve tossed something out ha ha! XOXO
