Are y’all up for a quick makeover today? I’m sharing a thrift store lamp that I found several months ago.
The lighting in my booth is very harsh, so I thought I would find a lamp or two to add a little softer lighting to my space.
Here is the lamp I found for a few dollars:
It had pretty lines, but came without a shade. I didn’t realize how hard shades would be to come by, and I did not want to break down and buy new.
Luckily I didn’t have to. I found this one for $3 a couple of weeks ago:
It was bashed in a bit at the back, but I loved the rosettes. (And one of my sweet readers informed that it came from a Pier One lamp so score!!)
The lamp base got a couple of coats of cottage white chalk paint and a coat of wax…
And here’s what I found to camouflage the bashed in areas of the shade:
This is a table runner I bought ages ago. I used part of it on this men’s valet makeover:
Of course it’s no longer a men’s valet. 🙂
I also used it for the wings on this sweet owl I made this Fall from an old sweater:
For this project, I hot glued it on place then rolled and dabbed a bit of glue as I went:
To make a super cute shade for my new lamp!
I hot glued the rosettes back on top of the crocheted piece.
Very romantic, no? It would be pretty in a bedroom.
I set it up in my dining room, and it looks right at home here.
The original black underneath was perfect for this look.
It does add a softer light to my booth as well. Mission accomplished. 🙂
I shared my Christmas Home Tour last week. If you missed it, you can see it here:
Hope you are enjoying the Holidays so far! 🙂

This lamp is gorgeous Christy!!!! It would have even been as pretty leaving the lamp black! 😉 I love what you did with the shade. I will have to try that. Most of my lamps are Candelabra’s with small shades and crystals but I will def try this on my bigger lamps! Thanks as always for your inspiration!

This is my favorite lamp make over. I love how the chalk paint looks on this base. You did a lovely job on the shade as well. It’s hard to get a shade to look right.

Wow, I have a black thrifted lamp sitting in my basement. As for shades, I have many of those too. When I find one in good condition and marked at a bottom deal, I scoop it up. This si so great! I really love it
