What better way to say goodbye to 2013, than to share my best projects? This was an amazing year for my little corner of the blogosphere. I want to send a HUGE thank you to each and every one of you who takes time from your busy lives to visit me. I read and reply to every comment and they truly make my day!
These are my top 10 projects of 2013…
#10
I kicked off the year with this massive, crazy, insane project. We took a saw to part of my sectional to reconfigure it. I’m not sure what I was thinking…
How I Destroyed and Rebuilt my Sectional
#9
I have been recovering my outdoor seat cushions this way for years and decided to share the how-to this Spring. This post received the most email responses with several readers sharing their results from this tutorial. Those are my favorite 🙂
Sew Easy Outdoor Cushion Covers
#8
This is my most pinned project to date. You just never know what will click with readers…so glad this one did!
#7
This was an antique bed I found at Lucketts for $15. It makes a perfect bench!
How to Build a Headboard Bench
#6
This headboard was a $5 yard sale find painted to resemble an old bed and breakfast sign.
What to do with that Old Headboard
#5
Another $10 Lucketts find. I love what a little paint can do!
#4
This was a HUGE project for our family. I shared how we transformed our small back yard. Isn’t it amazing? 😉
#3
This was a $20 yard sale find. A little paint and fabric goes a long way to update this dresser.
#2
This dining set was an $85 thrift store purchase. Did you know that if a piece of furniture has been sitting on your local thrift store’s floor for some time, they are usually able to discount it further? This set was marked $139, but the dicount for sitting there more than 30 days was 40%!
#1
And my post popular post was…drumroll please… this office desk chair makeover! This is also my most featured post. I found it for $40 dollars at a thrift store and reupholstered it in a pretty, but forgiving fabric. I bought it because it was SO comfy!

Thanks, Andi! I wasn’t crazy with the result, but it has really grown on me! I have no idea how I’m going to fill another year lol, but I’m sure I’ll think of something! You should have a lot to share this year with your new house! Can’t wait to see it unfold 🙂 XO
Chelsea says
okay, you have some of THE coolest projects, Christy! How in the world did you get the nerve to tackle that sectional? It turned out beautifully but I would have been terrified to try it out! And that gate, stunning!! I can’t wait to see all the fabulous projects you are up to this year! Happy new year! xo
Christy K. James says
Oh my goodness, Chelsea…I was so unhappy with that sectional! The store where I purchased it still sold that model, so I knew that if I messed up the piece I was altering, I could buy the piece I wanted. It was about $800 though, so I was really hoping my plan would work! I’m more amazed that my husband went along with it, but I think he was just tired of me complaining! Happy New Year! XO
Abby @ Just a Girl and Her Blog says

Hi Christy – thank you so much for sharing this round-up of your amazing project at Best of the Weekend! Pinned! Hope you have a great week and looking forward to lots of wonderful things from you in 2014!
Jen @ Girl in the Garage says
Christy I always look forward to seeing what you’re going to do next- and this recap includes all of my favorite projects of yours. I’ve always loved your desk chair- and your dining set (interestingly I bought an antique set in 2012 for $85 also, but it’s still waiting for me to take the plunge and start on it)- also I pinned your outdoor seat cushion tutorial because I’m either going to recover mine or paint them this year- decisions, decisions. I just know you’re going to have an awesome 2014!
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Jen! I feel the same way about you…I just know whatever you do is going to be fabulous! So glad we get to keep in touch through My Friends Tour Group 🙂
Diane | An Extraordinary Day says
Christy, when you see all the top posts together, aren’t you amazed at what you were able to accomplish in just one year? The desk chair makeover was the post that caught my eye and it where I “met” you. I’m still impressed with the chair, and keep my eyes open for a chair that “sits” well to recover.
Thanks for linking up your amazing inspiration at Project Inspire{d}!!
Blessings!
Christy K. James says
I am amazed, Diane! This year might have a hard time living up lol. But that’s ok as long as we have fun along the way! I still love my chair and it’s holding up great! 🙂
