Hi friends! Today I’m sharing a little TV tray transformation. I picked this TV tray up at a yard sale for $1. It was part of this haul which you may have seen a couple of times before:
Everyone has had one of these at some point, but for only $1? I’ll take it! I couldn’t pass it up.
Here’s what I came up with:
I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Graphite for the base.
I painted in my star first, using DIY chalk paint in Behr’s Cottage White…two coats, removing the tape immediately after the second coat.
When the star was dry, I taped off the stripes and painted them in also.
To finish it off, I sanded it a bit and gave it a coat of clear wax.
I love the result, so fun!
Not too shabby for a dollar, right?

What a fun makeover! I redid our TV trays, too. They were so blah. Now they are functional eye candy! lol Love the star in the middle.

Thanks, Audra! For only $1, it was fun to play with it! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

I love your makeover! It inspires me to see if I can find two more trays and paint them all to match. Who knew TV trays could actually look nice.
Thanks for the idea.

I know, right? Glad you like it, KC 🙂

I keep rejecting the tv trays at yard sales. I think I would get so carried away in all the possibilities! I LOVE how yours turned out. So FUN!!
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Michele! I only bought it because it was so cheap, but that made it easier to have fun with it 🙂

Now I wish I’d gotten a tv tray I saw at Goodwill but it wasn’t $1. They tend to be rather pricey, most likely why I didn’t buy it. Would love to have done something great like you did, (in my dreams) but would have given it a go anyway. Happy week
Christy K. James says
Thanks, JaneEllen! This was a steal for $1, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it either. Hope you have a great week! 🙂

That turned out beautiful! What a deal for $1! 🙂 I turned mine into an ironing board. You can see it here….http://sewlicioushomedecor.com/sew-organized-ironing-board-tray.

Just checked out your post, Marti, and I remember seeing you featured! That’s a fantastic idea. It’s such a drag to have to haul out the big ironing board for something quick! Have a great day 🙂

Hello. I just found you and LOVE everything. I’m curious about the photo of your haul up above… Is there a project or post that features the Singer drawers shown there? I picked up the exact thing at a shop because it was so cute (mine doesn’t have a top though). I have no idea what to do with it though! Would love to see what you came up with:)
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Deanna! I have yet to finish those because my set had a lot of water damage on the veneer on one side. I started to peel it off on that side and it is coming off in splinters, so I set it aside. I know I could redo just the drawers with a little paint and pretty knobs, but I’d like to keep them in the casing. To be honest, I forgot about them…I need to go dig them out now 🙂
