Hello Sweet Friends! It’s Themed Furniture Thursday around here and I have a dresser makeover to share with you today!
If you are new to my blog, welcome! I’ve got a great makeover for you. However if you have been with me more than a couple of months, you may feel a bit of deja vu!
Remember Grandma’s Vintage Dresser I shared back in August:
This was one of a set of vintage dressers I acquired from my husband’s Grandmother’s estate. Here is the other one:
I painted this one to match and decided to share it today because I knew it was perfect for this month’s theme: Glitz and Glamour!
I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I used.
As you can tell, I painted this and photographed it at the same time as the first one.
Definitely an improvement! I strayed from my usual more shabby look with this set, and I am loving the clean lines.
The fresh gold hardware is a pretty contrast against the clean bright white.
This is Rustoleum Metallic Bright Gold spray paint.
Like the first dresser, because I had no plans to shabby this one up, I decided to use Ultra Pure White latex from Behr in a Satin finish. This did require a quick sanding first as well as a coat of primer. For this I used Rustoleum Primer in white:
My Homeright Spray Shelter was perfect for this task. More prep than chalk paint, but no sealer was needed in the end.
I used the same fabric to line the drawers as well…very glamorous indeed:
This was a bolt of fabric I purchased at a deep discount online, but it didn’t work out for its intended purpose. Luckily it was the perfect fabric to line the drawers for these pieces. I used Matte Mod Podge to attach the fabric, brushing it on like a glue. A tip for cutting perfectly straight pieces for projects like this is to use a rotary cutter and straight edge. You can purchase them in a kit with a cutting mat like this one. I used mine all the time!
Are you ready to see what my friends did with their furniture pieces for this month’s “Glitz and Glamour” theme?
I hope you didn’t mind this deja vu makeover!
I’ve been working on a really fun project recently that I am excited to share with you next week. I made something with these pretty girl’s clothes I combed the thrift store for:
UPDATE: I can’t wait for y’all to see what I’ve been up to with these! Check them out HERE now! 🙂

Amy | Canary Street Crafts says
Love this makeover just as much as when I saw the first one in August. The crisp white and pretty gold hardware are perfect for this set.
Christy says
Thank you, Amy! I kind of hated to share such a similar makeover so soon, but it was just too perfect for this theme! 🙂
Gina Keysor says
I have seen the matching dresser you posted but enjoyed a look at the chest as well. Gold handles are so popular now, I’m seeing them even in kitchens with white cabinets. Hope someone will buy this vintage set, not a cookie cutter look for sure!~ Great job!
Christy says
Thank you, Gina! I enjoyed making this set over. It is so glam and girly now…just love that. XOXO
Marcie Lovett says
It’s just amazing what some paint will accomplish! I spy a mirror in the tent. Am I jumping ahead on that one?
Christy says
That is so true, Marcie!! And yes that IS a mirror in the tent…good eye! It went to the longer dresser, but the shape was so blah in comparison to the elegant lines of the dresser that I decided not to reattach it. It is still hanging out in my garage actually lol…you reminded me I need to decide what I’m going to do with it! 🙂
Annie (Canada) says
Beautiful! I do love how the gold handles add a touch of glam 🙂 Christy your spray tent looks taller than the one in your link, is it bigger?
Christy says
Thanks, Annie! They are the same tent, and actually it doesn’t appear as wide in the photo as it actually is in person. The tent is actually very large and I love it! 🙂
Jeanne says
The dresser makeover is lovely – I never thought to line drawers with fabric – a very nice touch.
Christy says
Thank you, Jeanne! The fabric adds a nice finishing touch. 🙂

Christy says
Thank you, Rose! XO
Addie says
From Yuk! to Yeah!!! it is a beauty!!!
LOVE IT!!!! The final coat was with a spray can or just the primer?
God Bless!!!
Addie
Christy says
Thanks, Addie!! The final coat was actually latex that I brushed on. I did use spray primer first though. 🙂
Shelly@ConfettiStyle says

Becky says
Haha, I suspected that this would be on after your hint! Still beautiful! Can’t wait to see what you did with the clothes!
Christy says
Ha ha yep! I photographed it when I did the other one, but wasn’t sure if I’d ever share it. It was just too perfect for this theme though…and it was already done lol. Can’t wait to share my project on Tuesday…took me way too long and is a huge departure from what I normally share, but it was SO fun! 🙂
Kim Jones says
Christy, beautiful job on these dressers! Really clean and classy with the white and gold! Your choices were perfect!
Kim @huntandhost
Christy says
Thank you, Kim! Too bad my 14 year old is a boy, these would be perfect for a young lady’s room. 🙂
Wendi@H2OBungalow says
I’m in love with the gold and white on this dresser! Especially with those pretty legs. Perfect as always Christy. Love your makeovers and love your style!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Wendi!! XOXO
Paula@SweetPea says
What a beautiful piece! I love the gold handles combined with the white paint. It’s an elegant look and I’ll be that you’ve already sold this piece.
Christy says
Thank you, Paula! I do love this combination, and actually it is still for sale. It really needs a night table to complete the set and I recently came across one that will work. 🙂
Marie from The Interior Frugalista says
Christy, it looks so fresh and current now and those pretty gold spray painted pulls are the jewelry! Beautiful professional looking finish too – worth the extra effort.
Christy says
Thanks so much, Marie! XOXO
