Hello dear friends!! I hope everyone had a wonderfully blessed holiday with friends and family! Today, I’ve got 13 fabulous furniture flips to share with you!
It’s that time of year where I look back at the past 12 months and share the posts you enjoyed the most!
It’s always fun to see what made it into the list of favorites.
The links to the original posts are at the bottom of each makeover if you’d like to see more!
Enjoy!
13 Fabulous Furniture Flips
13
Starting our countdown at number 13 in this Fabulous Furniture Flips countdown is this cane chair my MIL saved for me:
I’m no cane replacement expert, but I have a workaround that works just as well!
The addition of a padded seat worked beautifully on this piece!

The next makeover on the list is this secretary desk that I redid for my sister’s MIL:
I removed the top and gave the rest a handsome redo in Fluff and this cool Roycycled decoupage paper:
This is one of those makeovers that shows how you really can breathe new life into those dated pieces!

My sister’s MIL loved the result!

In the number 11 spot in this countdown is this dressing table bench I picked up for $10:
It was crying out for an update!
I ran into a bit of trouble when I realized the cushion on top could not be removed past those handles on the top (and believe me I tried!), but I was able to work around it and really freshen up this pretty bench!
I painted it in Cotton and Sawmill Gravy to match that dressing table which is coming up in our countdown!
I have used this fabric on several projects, and it always looks so elegant…

At number 10 is this recent bench I redid that my MIL also passed along to me. (Thanks, sweet MIL!)
I probably would have passed on this piece had I seen it at the thrift store, but I’m so thrilled that I was forced to redo this one because I love the result!
I replaced the padded top with a planked top, and it did wonders to update the whole look:
And adding a stencil gave it so much charm!

Coming in at number nine is another stenciled project, this sad desk that one of my awesome neighbors was getting rid of:
I decided to update it with one of Dixie Belle’s newest stencils, the Lotus Bloom Stencil:
It’s a gorgeous stencil and looks great against this pretty blue-gray Savannah Mist color!

Number eight in this countdown is this dresser I picked up for a steal at $35 at the thrift store:
I decided to create a stencil of my own using my Silhouette Cameo to turn this dated dresser into a real coastal cutie:
Right?? This is one of my personal favorites as I love all things coastal!
This gorgeous color is Stormy Seas and was just perfect for this makeover!
The drawers got some love too!

Next up is this hot mess desk that was one of a few pieces I acquired from an estate sale of my sister’s inlaws:
It doesn’t look too bad here, but trust me when I say it needed some work!
I just happened to have a mirror that I picked up ages ago that was a perfect match, turning it into this pretty dressing table you got a peek at earlier:
I am a sucker for stripes and painting them in a mix of Cotton and Sawmill Gravy really added so much charm to this piece. And the mirror worked out so well!

At number six in our year-end countdown is this set of vintage cane chairs I picked up at the antique mall where I have my booth, for only $60 for the pair:
That was a steal as most things in there are pricey!
With the help of Silk paint in Salt Water and one of my favorite fabrics, blue ticking, this set is worthy of any coastal cottage!
I would have definitely kept them if I had a place for them. They ended up selling to a friend before they could make it to my booth!

This next one was also one of my personal favorites!
I picked this dresser up for only $25 at the thrift store:
This one looks deceiving as well…it needed a ton of TLC that is hard to see in this photo, hence the $25 price tag!
No worries though…with the help of a few of my favorite go-to problem solvers and Silk Mineral paint in Bay Breeze, this turned into a real beauty!
How pretty is that transfer against this beautiful, soft color? You can find it in my Etsy shop HERE!
This piece didn’t last long in my booth!

At number four is this petite chair that I picked up for $5 at the thrift store:
This was the first piece I tested using the new Silk Mineral Paint from Dixie Belle in this gorgeous Baja Gray color:
I also shared how the Silk compares to traditional chalk paint in that post as well!

In the number three spot is another Coastal-Inspired makeover!
I picked up this antique dresser at the thrift store for $75:
I didn’t even realize it came with the mirror since it was sitting on the floor behind it at the thrift store. In the end, I felt it was too tall for the dresser and decided to set it aside while I worked on the dresser.
I chose this gorgoeus Blue Wave Transfer by Redesign by Prima and paired it with three Silk colors for a fantastic new look: Cape Current, Endless Shore, and Harbor…
The transfer was just the right size!
And here is where Harbor comes in:
I just love bringing these damaged treasures back to life!!

Only two left!! Coming in at number two in the countdown is this forgotten sewing machine table and bench that I found at the back of a barn sale for $20 for the set:
It took me a while to get to this one because it had a metal support arm sticking out of the side that would not close.
I ended up removing the entire top and replacing it!
New lumber is crazy expensive right now though so I had to get creative with that.
Check out the link to this pretty piece below to see where I sourced my wood for this project!

And finally, your favorite makeover of this year probalby isn’t a surprse at all!
I just picked this as my favorite Furniture Fixer Upper makeover of the year also… this hutch that was given to me:
This super tall piece was saved by the power of black paint!
This one was also done in the Silk Mineral paint in the color Anchor:
It’s the perfect backdrop for my thrifted ironstone!
I really loved this one…it surprised me by how elegant it could be!
Farmhouse Hutch Makeover
And an honorable mention goes to this hutch from the Secretary Desk that made the list earlier:
I just shared this piece recently and it brought crazy good traffic to my blog last week! I’m not sure where it was shared, but it was such a nice surprise just in time for Christmas!
Here’s a reminder of how I was able to use this leftover piece!
This is Silk paint also in a 50/50 mix of Quiet Cove and Whitecap, plus the brand new Translucent Garden transfer.
It was a lot of fun playing with all the pieces of this one!

Sonja Hansen says
Thank you for sharing your amazing talents. It is one thing to do the work, but the Wow factor appears when you have the ability to see what it can become. I do have one question. The window frame piece above #12. Is that glass inside? I first thought it was some kind of mesh, but think now it may be a very old glass. I fell for that. Have a great 2022!
Christy says
Aww thank you, Sonja! It is a pleasure to share! That window gets a lot of interest when I share it. That is decorative sheet metal in the center that my hubby had left over from a project! Happy New Year! XOXO
Hulda says

I am totally impressed with your imagination in turning old ugly into something just beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing! I am 75 and confined to a fancy wheel chair that allows me to stand up. And with that I am going to paint two Queen Anne tables and glue shells on them. Ethan Allen will look so much better!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Connie!! Wow…your chair does sound fancy! Happy creating! XOXO
