Amazing friends, welcome back! With the warm weather finally upon us, I need to take a few days to work on all the outdoor tasks. So today, I’m bringing you a fun round up of 13 box makeovers I’ve redone!
After sharing two boxes recently, I thought I would pull out several more I’ve done over the last few years to share!
There are so many possibilities with a simple box!
I always check out boxes at the thrift store!
Here are 13 Thrifty Box Makeovers!
I linked to the original posts below each after photo if you want to see more details!
Enjoy!
1
Let’s start with this very simple flatware box I picked up at the thrift store in 2019:
This one was only $2!
This is still one of my favorite ever flatware box makeovers!
The color is very similar to the mix I used HERE.
Here’s the top a little closer:
And the inside…

At the number two spot on the list is this small recipe box I paid a dollar for:
This one was really dated, but covering over the letters did wonders!

I shared another box in that post too!

This next one is more of a chest, but I love it so much that I decided to include it.
It was a $5 thrift store find:
Perty, eh?
It wasn’t at all before, but a transfer and paint changed all that!
I coordinated the drawers to the transfer with Dixie Belle’s Apricot:

This next one started out as this fancy looking case that I picked up for $4:
It originally held what appeared to be a wine gift, but I figured I could find something else to do with it.
I ended up going with Drop Cloth for a change for this one:

How about another flatware box? I loved this one too!
It was only $5 at the thrift store.
Dixie Belle’s Caviar and a gingham transfer gave this box an updated look!
The top got a stencil and the insides got fancied up with this really pretty floral fabric:

At number six is this box that I really wish I had kept:
Funny because it wasn’t really attractive at all before. But wow, what paint and fabric can do!
It got a sweet contrasting check on the inside:

This next box is one of the last things I found before the big lockdown:
It was only $3 at the thrift store.
Savannah Mist and a some mini transfers made it much cuter!

Number eight was in really rough shape!!
I’m kind of surprised even I took a chance on it, but for $4, I didn’t have much to lose!
Ah…the magic of paint once again!

This next box was clearly found post shut down since it was $8!
I thought it was super cute though even if it was a mass-produced Hobby Lobby piece.
Paint and decoupage paper gave it a one-of-a-kind look!
I opted for a simple painted interior in Tea Rose for this one…

This next one started out like this:
It definitely needed some TLC, but for $4, I was willing to take it on.
It never knew it could be so elegant!
The inside got some Flamingo love!

At number 11 is this box I picked up at a neighbor’s yard sale for $10:
This one got a Cherry Blossom Transfer makeover!
This vibrant Peony pink was the perfect accent color!
And of course the insides got a fresh new look too…

Next up is this recent cigar box that I picked up for $3.75:
I loved the petite size of it.
There were several things that went into this update:

And finally, at number 13, is this flatware makeover I just recently shared:
I paid half of $3.75 for this box! Super amazing deal!
It got a sweet new look with this pretty ballerina decoupage paper:
The dainty glass feet might be my favorite…
Definitely an unexpected contrast to the rustic nailheads on top.
This makeover wouldn’t be complete without the inside redone as well:

I love looking back on all the pretty boxes you have made beautiful! I remember every one of them, but so fun to see them again! New/old inspiration all over again! Good luck with your outdoor work, I need to do the same, but I live in Michigan and to cold yet.

I’m so glad you enjoyed looking back, Mary!! I always enjoy a second peek too! My sister retired this year, so she has all of her outdoor spaces perfectly trimmed and mulched and ready to go…I feel like a slacker lol! XOXO

I embarrassingly have to admit I only remember a few of these……how fun though. And I don’t remember when exactly I started to follow you but I think it was after the start of Covid. You certainly have given me an outlet to boredom and ideas/goals to work toward once I have time. Thanks so much Christy!!
