Hello beautiful friends!! I’m back today sharing some of our Christmas decor! One thing about me that you may not know is that when I decorate a space and get it just how I want, I don’t change it, like ever. That is unless I make something over that I want to keep and then I might have to move something. If I come back and show y’all our bedroom in a year, it will be decorated the very same! I guess it’s probably due in part to the fact that I’m constantly redoing my thrift store finds, so I don’t feel the need or desire to change up my home decor.
That confession leads me to the point that I am trying to get at and that is that I hardly change up my Christmas decor either haha! It’s way too much work to try to come up with new ways to decorate every year, so if you’ve seen any of my spaces decorated for Christmas, they may look very familiar!
I’ll start with something that is new this year…the location of our tree. You can see a peek of it in the kitchen as you enter the front door:
It’s big, y’all. You may remember I shared it a couple of weeks ago when it was still naked:
Every year my Hubby wants to get a huge tree and I have to reign him in and remind him that it has to fit in our house. This year, I let him go for it. We ended up with a nine-foot tree, and the only place it would fit was in our kitchen!
I actually love it though! I usually put up two trees downstairs, this one and one in the dining room. Because this one was more centrally located, I didn’t feel the need to put the other one up also. This one is my favorite. My boys help me decorate it, and it holds all of our treasured ornaments, like the boys’ hand-made ornaments and so many others that hold special memories…
Just that one small shot shows how special these ornaments are to me. Look at how tiny Jack’s hand was when he was a baby!
The Kitchen
We’ll start in the kitchen since that’s where our tree (that we named Glo btw) lives!
Kitchen Makeover, Kitchen Island, Recovered Barstools
I don’t go too overboard in the kitchen because we do use our kitchen a lot and it has to stay functional.
A simple arrangement on the island:
I love simple greenery and pops of red. And I love the whimsy of the elf’s feet. I use them every year!
I also love those red wired poinsettias. I use them to carry the red throughout. I found them at Walmart and they have them every year.
A simple wreath above the stove…
Installing Backsplash, DIY Range Hood Cover
A thrift store tree that I put in a bucket I found at Michaels last year…
The Living Room
And looking back towards the living room…
I love the pops of red against my favorite blue!
This Santa was an after-Christmas clearance find a few years ago. I just love him.
And just to the right of Santa is my blue $6 Thrift Store Christmas Village I redid last year:
I still love it! You could paint them any color you like!
Someone mentioned pink last year, and I think that would be so sweet!
I skipped our table in the kitchen because we had to move it out of the way for the tree, but I just have some simple greenery on it that can easily be moved when we’re eating…
And another one of those Sci-Fi ceiling fans like we had in our bedroom. My Hubby switched out our bedroom one so easily that I’m thinking I should nab a light fixture for this room too while we’re at it!
But don’t look at that…look at this sweet arrangement:
Remember this drawer that I chopped down and turned into a fun Spring arrangement? Turns out it looks pretty cute holding holiday greenery too!
My same Christmas pillow line-up…
I did try to buy new Christmas pillows this year, but other than the pretty beaded pillow on our bed (I bought two…the other one ended up in the dining room.), I didn’t find any I liked better than these.
The arrangement I put together for our island last year is perfect to add a little whimsy to our coffee table this year:
That lantern came from Walmart several years ago and I’ve had the elf as long as I can remember!
He has a buddy that lost part of his hat…I just love their jolly little faces.
Anyone remember this Ballard knockoff Joy pillow I made a few years ago?
Super simple and looks as good as the pricey version for a fraction of the cost.
My beloved Christmas village ended up in here this year since the tree wasn’t in this corner…
See all the details of my Christmas Village HERE if you like! (It’s my favorite holiday tradition!)
Lyla has decided she likes it too…
I snapped this really quickly one night last week when I caught her terrorizing the townsfolk! I love Miss Lyla, but she better stay outta Mama’s Christmas Village!
And looking back at the kitchen…
How to Add Glass to Cabinet Doors
Remember my Summer sign? That’s where it ended up. We will always be a Summer house at heart. 🙂
Here’s a peek at a project we’ve been slowly working on for the last year:
It’s not quite done, but almost! We’ve been living without the railing and ballisters for almost a year as well. It is so nice to have the railing back up. I told my Hubby I wanted it back together by Christmas so I could decorate it!
And that concludes our Christmas home tour!
I didn’t share the dining room because it looks just like it did the last timed I shared it for Christmas, minus the tree.
You can visit my Christmas dining room HERE if you like!
I’d like to share our outdoor decor before the big day, so I’m hoping to share that next week. I’ll be back on Thursday with my Furniture Fixer Upper girls. We’ll be sharing our favorite Furniture Fixer Upper redos from this year! It was hard to choose, but I think mine was this one from April:
Remember how this one turned out?
You can revisit it Thursday!
UPDATE: See it HERE now!!
Or if you’d like to skip to our outdoor home tour, you can see that HERE!
XOXO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!

Wow, your home is beautiful for Christmas. I love how you have done every thing. It is so festive, but not so over the top that you can’t use your home, beautiful! I love your Christmas village and enjoy seeing it every year, and apparently kitty does to. I know she was acting naughty, but so cute in your Christmas village. LOL
Christy says
Thank you, Mary! Lyla has terrorized the townsfolk a few times now…I know she is being naughty as well, but it does make me laugh! Enjoy your weekend! XOXO

Thank you so much, Janice! I love it too! XOXO
Christina in SW FL says
Christy your home is so warm and inviting… love it!
Completely adorable with Lyla “terrorizing” the Christmas village. At least she doesn’t systematically swat everything off the table. lol
I’m kind of surprised you put the wreath above your stove instead of on the hood.
Here’s to a loving, warm and wonderful Christmas season!
Christy says
Thank you, Christina! Lyla was being naughty, but it made me laugh seeing her in there! I’m so glad she hasn’t figured out how fun it would be to start knocking things off! Funny, I put the wreath on the hood first, but it felt like it was competing with the one on the window, so I moved it down. Great minds! Enjoy this busy weekend! XOXO
Chris says
Lovely, as expected. You always make beautiful things look so comfortable and inviting.

Beautiful Christmas home! You have inspired me for years with your furniture redoes. But how did I miss those striped dining chairs? Did you redo those or buy them that way?
Christy says
Thank you, Mari! Are you referring to the chairs in the kitchen or dining room? I redid both. 🙂 XOXO

So Beautiful! Love the Christmas Village. And that tree though❤
Christy says
Thank you, Sandi! The biggest tree in all the land! Well the biggest we’ve had at least haha! XOXO
Sue says
I enjoy your projects so much buy I do have one request. The light blue you print is almost unreadable for me. As we get older some colors are hard to see when printed. Light colors especially. Light blue, yellow and red are difficult.
Thank you for your always entertaining articles.
Christy says
I’m so sorry about that, Sue! I darkened the blue a bit. Let me know if that’s better. I truly appreciate your feedback! XOXO
Susan says
Absolute perfection! HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOURS ★

Thank you so much, Susan! I hope you have a wonderful holiday as well! XOXO
Denise Cox says
This was my first glimpse into your home, and I’m glad it was at this special time of the year!! What a lovely home and it’s decorated beautifully! I love the 9′ tree in the kitchen… so glad hubbs won… 😉. Red and green has always been my favorite and I do adore red pointsettias, bows, and berries with greenery. Nothing like it. But, I am taking a shine to a ‘pink Christmas’ and other variations. KariAnne over at ‘Thistlewood Farms’ has definitely gone out of the box this Christmas with her decor /trees… 😋. Where did you get the lovely tray upon which your ‘blue village’ is placed? It’s quite pretty. Your kitchen table is just how I wanted to redo mine, before the arthritis in my hands set in, last Dec. I love the gray – washed distressed top against the white bottom. It’s all absolutely gorgeous, Christy!! You are Blessed, indeed!!!!
Christy says
I’m so glad you enjoyed the tour, Denise! Thank you! I’m glad the hubs won too, but don’t tell him I said that haha. I’ll have to check out KariAnne’s trees! The tray came from Hobby Lobby. Thanks again! XOXO

Gracias

Muchas gracias! Estoy muy contento de escuchar eso! XOXO

Christy: Please tell me where you got those square “thingies” (in the photo of the Christmas village and the kitty cat) ? I need to do some “decorative cover-up”) in my bathroom. Are they wood, plastic or metal or stone? “Decorative cover-up” is another way of saying HIDE.
Christy says
Hi Tillie! I found those at HomeGoods! They are wood. XO
Tillie L. Jamison says
Thank you Christy. I hope they have an online store cause I’m too lazy to go to the brick-n-mortar right now, but I will if I have too. Those little panels are perfect for my bathroom project.
Debbie says
Love love love your Christmas decor. So classic and not over done. I dont change things often either. Dear Lord it takes me so long to make up my mind about my house I like things FOREVER!! Besides…who could afford to change so often. And I dont feel pressured to follow the trends.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Debbie! I agree…once I get things the way I like, they stay that way! XOXO
Dawn Shelley says
Gorgeous as alwsys Christy…..however the summer sign does need changing gf! Wink. You did comment on it but bet you can tuck on the living room shelves for the holidays maybe. I say that cause I wanna see what you might create with a winter/Christmas theme for more inspiration! Looks awesome gf!
Christy says
Thanks, Dawn! My hubby said the summer sign needed to go as well ha ha. I have kept my eye out for a sign that I could put up there, but I haven’t found anything I liked. I might have to make one to swap out for next year! XOXO
Addie says
WOWSER!!!! LOVE it all!!! I am a traditional red and green Christmas girl too…it just wouldn’t say Christmas without it!!! So nice to see it. EVERYONE seems to be BLUE/silver/gold. Of course, Nancy is also in on the red…I love hers too. You better keep Miss Layla away from that village….good luck!
Merry Christmas and Happy new Year to you and your family!!! XXOO
Christy says
Thank you, Addie!! I do love the traditional red as well. I’ve tried to go lighter in the past, but it just didn’t feel right. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas as well! XOXO
Ruth Ledyard says
Love, love, love your house. I am in the process of selling my house to downsize and to build a new house. Your colors are close to the ones I am looking at. I have a room where the paint is Lullabye Blue by Sherwin Williams and I love it. You have convinced my that it is what I am going with Love all of your decorations and Lyla is a hoot!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Ruth! How exciting to have a brand new home to decorate! I love the pops of soft blue. Is very clean and tranquil! XOXO
Robyn Wright says
I think seeing your village on another blog is what got me to your blog. You were setting it up with your son. Memories!
All of your decor is beautiful!!
Christy says
Oh that’s funny, Robyn! Well no matter what it was, I’m so glad you found me! XOXO
Candy says

Joey says
Christy, Your home is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and I am a lover of your style with all of the white and pops of color. I have the same and that is why I love what you do and how you do it. I don’t change my house out either…I worked to hard to get it to my look and enjoy it so much that I don’t want or need to change it. My favorite in your lovely home is Miss Lyla sitting in front of the huge tree with nothing on the tree. She looks so sweet and precious and one just knows she loves where she lives and loves the people she lives with. I hope you have a beautiful holiday day and all your family is around you. Hugs, Joey
Christy says
Thank you so much, Joey! Sounds like we have very similar tastes in decor! I didn’t even know Lyla was in the photo when I took it. I took that to send to my Mom to show her how big our tree was and she pointed her out sitting so sweetly at the bottom of it haha. She is so precious and very loved for sure! Merry Christmas to you and yours as well! XOXO
Debbie in TX says
Wow, everything is so pretty in your home. I love, love, love kitty in the village!!! Help the townsfolk out with a little citrus scent, and hopefully she won’t bother them any more. Merry Christmas, my friend! XOXO
Christy says
Thanks, Debbie! Good to know about the citrus scent. I may have to try that! I know I should be mad that she was being naughty, but it makes me laugh every time I catch her in there! A very Merry Christmas to you as well! XOXO
Joni Gonzales says
Beautiful and inspiring. I saw you changed your hand soap color and immediately went out and got red soap to put in mine lol. I had found the same container last year after seeing yours and it conveniently just emptied out. Your kitty plays an adorable Catzilla. Our cats also terrorize the village people only we use buffalo snow so they leave evidence all over the house! Thank you for lifting us up all year with inspiration and beauty. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Christy says
Thank you, Joni! That is so funny about the soap. I always use the same blue since it matches, so I was excited to change up the scent! I think Lyla looks hilarious as Catzilla. Funny that yours get into your village as well! A very Merry Christmas to you as well! XOXO
Tillie L. Jamison-Harrell says
I love all your inspirational signs like: LAUGH (on a shelf); SUMMER (over the range hood); believe (over the kitchen sink) and ….RENTALS (hanging over the Christmas Tree) and I must say, your style in décor is so much like mine. I just started collecting and displaying the same type signs in my kitchen. I just purchased 2 from Hobby Lobby & 5 from At Home. I love them all. Most are in my kitchen & is the reason I asked you for the name of a good, clear spray to seal & protect their finish. One I purchased from Hobby Lobby I hung on my dining area wall that says – LET’S EAT, in big, bold letters. lol
Christy says
Thank you, Tillie! I love signs!! Sounds like you have some good ones! XOXO
Terra Maggiolino says
Well, that is absolutely beautiful!! I’m definitely (borrowing) some ideas!! We’ve been wrapping our banister with lighted garlands, and it takes forever, plus it uses two whole garlands!! Your idea is so much smarter, and frankly, I think it looks better!! So, this year (No, I’m not finished, don’t judge!) I think I’ll scallop them and tie them on with some beautiful bows!! (Bows, I can do – my grandmother was a florist!)
Thank you, for all your beautiful ideas!!
Christy says
Thank you, Terra and yay! I am so thrilled that you found some ideas you can use too! I used to wrap our banister as well and then one year it dawned on me that I was making it way harder than it had to be! It will be beautiful with bows! XOXO
Patty says
So lovely, Christy, I love seeing your tree that has treasured ornaments instead of all “new” ones. Naughty little Lyla is just too cute,, I, too, loved the photo of her sitting by the big undecorated tree! The banister is so beautiful and the red soap on the counter looks so cheery! The only reason I change my Christmas decorating is because I can’t remember how I did it the year before 🙂
Merry Christmas!! XO
Christy says
Thank you, Patty! I have to laugh at some of the things Lyla gets into! Good reason to change up your decor from year to year haha! merry Christmas to you as well! XOXO
Char Fisher says
Absolutely gorgeous! All the decorations are created and placed with a lot of thought. I love everything! Merry Christmas! Love the “huge” giveaway! WOW
Christy says
Thank you so much, Char! Merry Christmas and Good luck on the giveaway!! XOXO
Nancy @ Artsy Chicks Rule says
I love, love, love all the pops of red! I think they look so good with the blue..and white. 🙂 Your banister and stairs are looking amazing too!! xoxo
Christy says
Thank you, my dear friend! I just can’t break from the red…oh well haha! And yes, the stairs look SO much better, thanks! XOXO
Donna McCann says
Your home is lovely. I love the traditional red against the turquoise. Your Great Wolf Lodge ornament caught my attention because it is local to me. We still have to get up to Winterfest this year before it over for the season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.
Christy says
Thank you, Donna! My boys loved Great Wolf Lodge! Merry Christmas! XOXO
Terry Moore says
Loving all the touches of Christmas at your house! We are back home and I’ll be taking all mine down today. Thanks for the shout out on your outdoor Christmas look post. I appreciate the win and can’t wait to use your products.
Christy says
Thank you, Terry! I took our inside decor down yesterday. It’s sad to see it come down, but it is nice to start the year off fresh and clean. I picked up your paint from my shop on Friday so I’ll get your box together and get it out now that you’re back home! Congratulations again! XOXO
