Amazing friends, hello! On Tuesday I shared our kitchen decked out for Christmas. You can see it HERE if you missed it. It was fun since our kitchen got a pretty major facelift this Summer!
I had originally planned to share our Christmas kitchen on Tuesday AND share how easy it was to put our island centerpiece together, but of course I took too many photos to share for one post, so I’m back to share that today! I’m also sharing the centerpiece I put together for our coffee table today as well.
When I was looking for something to act as the centerpiece for our kitchen island, I started with this enamel pitcher I found at the antique mall where my booth is, filled with faux greenery I found on the clearance at Pier One during the after Christmas sales:
Buuuut…while it was cute, it seemed a little on the small side on the island all by its lonesome, so I found a few more things in my Christmas boxes to add to it to make it fill the space better:
Better, no?
Here is everything I used for this centerpiece:
I had everything on hand already from Christmases past.
First I started with the tray that usually lives on this island:
Putting everything on a tray makes it easy to move out of the way if need be. I found this one at Hobby Lobby this Summer.
I lined the bottom with this dish towel that I usually use for the bread basket at Christmas dinner, just to add punch of color:
Then I found two more elements besides my original arrangement that were varying heights. I added the two taller items to the tray:
That lantern came from Walmart’s BHG collection a couple of years ago. Those elf feet came from Michaels a couple of years ago.
Then I started adding some of the greenery at the back…
And then to the front as well…
I think all of my sprays of greenery came from Hobby Lobby.
I added another spray of greenery that already had to the other side…
It doesn’t match the others but it’s okay to mix up the greenery!
And another piece in the middle…
Then I nestled my third element, this sweet elf right in the middle:
He came from Michaels about ten or so years ago.
I just love his sweet face and pinecone head. 🙂
Last year he was on the shelf above our toilet in the guest bathroom and our elf, Jingle, TP’d him! I wish I had taken a picture!
I finished the tray off by tucking couple of sprigs of the realistic greenery I picked up on clearance at Pier One on either side and at the back:
And here it is coming together in action:
I did something similar with our coffee table centerpiece this year.
I struggled last year with what to put on our coffee table, and this year it was made much easier by putting a couple of things together on a tray:
I started with this beautiful silver tray I found at the thrift store for $10…
I just love the details on it:
I started with another pitcher with my Pier One clearance greenery and one of my favorite red poinsettias from Walmart, and I added my clock that I recently turned into a shadow box:
See how I did that HERE if you missed it.
Another greenery swag, likely from Hobby Lobby, and a couple sprigs of faux greenery from my after-Christmas Pier One haul, and this display is almost complete…
I really like the mix of different greenery.
I didn’t have a standing third element, but I did add some pretty mercury glass bulbs which kind of do the same thing…
Again, collecting everything on a tray makes it easy to move out of the way if we need to.
So there’s two trays and two ways I was able to use my existing decor to create two brand new centerpieces for both our island and our coffee table!
I thought this might inspire someone to dig through what they have collected over the years and put things together in a new way.
Here’s a couple more shots I took looking back towards the kitchen from the living room…
Oh and here is one shot of our elf, Jingle, that I did capture last year…
He got into Brennan’s pop tarts!
I’ll meet you back here on Tuesday for my Trash-to-Treasure project I did using one of the cabinets I took out of our old kitchen:
UPDATE: See how this cabinet got repurposed HERE now!
I hope y’all have a beautiful weekend!
XOXO,

Wow they are so beautiful and look so easy peasy to put together. I will have to dig into my stash of Christmas to see what I can pull together. I haven’t even started decorating for Christmas yet, now this is the motivation that I needed to get going.

Both of your tray centerpieces are so pretty, Christy! I also struggle with what to put on the coffee table. Using a tray is a great idea because you can easily move it. Love the elf picture! I’ll be he’s into more mischief this year!
