Hello dear friends! I know many of you are busy with holiday, so I am so happy you were able to stop by today! I am sharing a booth update. I have a booth in the Virginia Beach Antique Mall here in Virginia Beach. I’ve been there since the Fall of 2014 and it is a great way to unload all of the treasures that I make over for my blog.
When I share my booth space updates, I like talk about all the pieces that have come and gone since the last time we visited.
I last shared it in August, and it looked something like this:
I shared my expanded Dixie Belle display last time and it now takes up pretty much the whole back wall:
I sold most of what you see in that photo above including the table with the transfer and matching chair, my favorite Furniture Fixer Upper piece from this year, the antique dresser with transfer, and that blue drop-leaf table.
If we look a bit closer at the shutter wall and what was over in that space, most of these items sold also…
That blue shelf is still hanging around though!
This $25 china cabinet that was to the left sold also:
Then I rearranged a bit and brought in this pretty transfer dresser:
That bookcase was redone to use in my old paint display, but since I replaced the mismatched shelves with IKEA Hemnes bookcases for a cleaner look, I brought this one home and added stripes to the back:
I also brought in that sewing table.
Everything on this Bombay table eventually sold. The lamps didn’t last long at all:
But the table has been around awhile. When I sold the china cabinet, I moved the Bombay table to where the china cabinet used to be:
As soon as I moved it here, it sold.
I also brought in this pretty mirror that I never shared on the blog:
You may remember this bench that I made from an antique headboard:
I had moved it to this ugly corner of my booth:
And it sold not long after. It’s funny how moving things around helps them sell sometimes! I also sold that little table that is sitting on it and that petite faux olive tree that you may remember from one of my batches of smalls.
That mirror is another piece never shared on the blog… I was testing out a custom color on it:
And hello there! Another piece I held onto for forever…like a couple of years is that headboard you see hanging on the shutter wall in the reflection. It had hooks across the bottom. It finally sold also!
I’m not in love with how my booth looks now that the paint is across the back wall, but I don’t have too many options if I want it to be seen from the doorway. My booth is in a small room and the booth in front of mine obscures my booth a bit.
I am still waiting for the lady with all the glass to move out, but it may be a while. She just informed me that they have two more full storage units to clear out. Yikes that’s a lot of glassware!
I brought this table and chairs in this Fall, as well as the lamp and more recently, the headboard turned sign…
I moved this dresser against the wall…
That mirror on top has been in my booth for a long time. It really belongs with a dresser.
I get asked each time I share my booth how I hang items on the shutters. I use large paper clips that I open to make an “S” shape that allows me to hang items on the shutters. I don’t hang anything too heavy with them, and they have worked great for several years.
I then brought in this trio of goodies, the rocker, the secretary desk, and my sister’s wall cabinet that I flipped upside down and added feet to:
Still looking kind of cute…
But then the secretary desk sold boohoo…I wasn’t ready to say good bye yet!
Then just last weekend, I brought in this headboard turned wall shelf:
I need to be on the lookout for pieces with more height for my next haul.
I brought in the footboard that was part of that same set also:
That drum table that you see barely peeking out in that photo might be the piece that has been hanging around the longest. There’s always a few pieces that just need the right buyer to come along. This is such a neutral table that I’m surprised it has hung around for as long as it has!
I brought in this cutie as well:
I can’t complain, business has been good. I think people were ready to get out of their houses! Of course, sales tanked in November, which is normal for me. That’s why I don’t put a whole lot into Christmas items for my booth. My business will pick back up next month.
Meanwhile, I’ll be in there rearranging again and getting it cleaned up and ready for the new year!
I hope y’all enjoyed the field trip today!
You can see all my previous booth updates below:
And just a quick reminder that Dixie Belle’s price increase is going into effect on January 1st if there is anything you want to buy before then. You can read more about that HERE.
All orders over $50 enjoy FREE SHIPPING in my Etsy shop!
This is me signing off until after the New Year.
I’m taking the rest of this week and next week off to enjoy the holidays and a little downtime. (Although, knowing me, I’ll find something to work on!)
I want you all to know that each and everyone of you are a gift, and I could not do what I love without you. Thank you!
And to those of you who celebrate the Christmas holiday, I wish you a truly blessed Christmas!
I’ll be back after the break with my favorite furniture makeovers of 2021:
See you in 2021!!
UPDATE: I’m back and ready for a brand new year, but first, let’s look back at my favorite furniture makeovers of 2020 HERE!
XOXO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!
If you like what you see, there are several ways to follow along!

Visiting your booth is always fun! I want to buy it all! Probably a good thing I’m in Oklahoma.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Christy says
Oh ha ha…yes, good thing! I’m so glad you enjoy it, Jackie! Merry Christmas! XOXO
Cecilia from Georgia says
How did you hang the louvered shutters? Your booth tours are so fun and inspiring!
Christy says
Thank you so much, my friend! I used a stud finder to find the studs in the wall and used screwed them right into the wall. I went right through the front of the shutter and into the wall. Where they sit in front of the window, I have them screwed into the lower part of the wall. XOXO
Mary Kaiser says
Wow, you have sold a lot of things through your booth. I wish I lived near, I would be in there buying stuff all the time. I am so thankful for your blog and having my coffee with you every time you post something. You are #1 and I treasure every thing you redo and share with me! I hope you enjoy your time off, and that you and your family have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Mary! I was blessed to have a good year in my booth for sure, despite the issues with COVID. I always appreciate your encouragement, and I am so thrilled that I can offer you company for your morning coffee two days a week! I wish you also a very Merry Christmas!! XOXO
Denise says
You and your family have a safe and healthy New Years
Christy says
Thank you so much, Denise! You too!! XOXO

Hey girlie, I didn’t know you shipped?! Or is just during Christmas? WOW!! Worth considering for me. Is there a deadline? I understand stimulus funds have been approved… 🤔😊. I’d try to find a place of honor for one of your pieces SOMEWHERE… 😍😘😁….
Christy says
Oh ha ha you are so funny! I don’t ship the pieces I make over since in most cases, the shipping costs are too crazy. My Etsy shop carries all you need to make over your own treasures though! Happiest of holidays! XOXO

Hi Christy! I always enjoy your booth posts. I just moved out of my current booth into a smaller booth in a better location. I needed a smaller place . Less stress. The walls are peg boards so I have to hand things off of that. It’s a challenge but that’s ok. Thank you for sharing. I hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Cheryl! I hear you with the less stress! I was trying to get into a booth in a better location in our store, but someone beat me to it, so I guess I’m meant to stay in my little room. That space had pegboard also. I think that would be great for hanging things…good luck with your new space! And a very merry Christmas to you and yours as well! XOXO

Darling Christie!! I had a booth this year for about 5 months and have to say I felt like stuff sold really well–mainly furniture that I had painted and things that I upcycled. If you are curious check out my FB page Cluck Co. I ended up Closing it down in October, as the overhead cost seemed too high…but I know in my heart, that this part of my life isn’t over. Might just need to find another booth that is a little more affordable. Just want to say thank you again for being a great inspiration. Merry Christmas!
Christy says
Thank you so much for sharing your page! I had fun going down the rabbit hole lol! You booth was cute as can be, but I totally get having to back off if it was just too costly. I have a feeling you’re not done yet either lol! Merry Christmas!! XOXO

I love touring your booth! You sell a lot and I think it’s because it feels cohesive, you have beautiful, quality pieces and they are well displayed. How big is your booth? It looks spacious.
Merry Christmas!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Rebecca! I have been there for several years, so I think that really helps also. I don’t know the exact size, but my booth is actually two spaces. When the owner was showing me what he had available when I was looking for a booth, he showed me these which had both been previously rented by the same person. I went ahead and took them both hoping I could fill them. I’m so glad I did! Merry Christmas to you! XOXO

I just LOVE that dresser and it leads me to this thought, if you don’t mind: paint the dresser mirror and the drum table (with a little matching transfer!) to match the dresser and maybe they’d sell as a bedroom set? I know that I’d personally love that in my room….it’d be so light and romantic. Swoon…anyway, just thinking out loud, I know you’re the expert. 😉 Merry Christmas!!
Christy says
The minute I put the mirror on that dresser, I thought how pretty it would be if I painted it to match, but I never thought to make the drum table match also! I absolutely love that idea!! I need to see if I have any more of that transfer left. Thank you for the idea!! Merry Christmas!! XOXO
Paula says
Christy, If I had a bucket list, visiting your booth would be up there near the top. I love the virtual tours! (I’m on the west coast, so that will have to do for now.) Thank you for sharing! Hope you have a lovely time with your family this week! Enjoy!
Christy says
Aww I love that, Paula! I’m so glad you enjoy the tours! Thank you…I hope you have a wonderful holiday! XOXO
Mandy says
Oh wow! I didn’t know you were in Va Beach! I live in Waynesboro and have been contemplating getting a booth at the Verona Antique Mall (touted as the largest antique mall in the US). It was once a garment factory and my grandmother retired from there many years ago.
I’ve always had a love affair with furniture and antiques and my family will attest to my unwillingness to get rid of anything I feel I can revive or repurpose. Lol
I’ll have to stop by your booth the next time I’m down that way. One of my cousin’s lives in Va Beach and owns a jewelry store.
I love your booth and you constantly give me inspiration!
Christy says
Thank you, Mandy! You should totally go for it!! And how cool that your grandmother worked in the same building? I hope you get a chance to stop in next time you’re in town! XOXO
Ruth Anne Buterbaugh says
I always enjoy a virtual trip to your booth. I’ve also found that moving things around in my antique/vintage shop space seems to help them sell. It’s a funny thing. November wasn’t a great month for me and, so far, neither has December. Hoping for better things in 2021! Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Christy says
I’m so glad you enjoy the tours, Ruth Anne! I love seeing other people’s booths also. Isn’t it funny how moving things around helps them sell? I’m looking forward to a brand new year also… Merry Christmas to you and yours and let’s hope 2021 brings us lots of business! XOXO
Nancy Sharp says
Visiting your booth is fun except for the fact that you’re in VA and I’m in FL.😀 You sure did accomplish a lot this year.
I love reading your blog.
Merry Christmas. Enjoy your holidays. See you next year.

Aww ha ha…you are a bit far! Thank you so much, Nancy! Wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas as well! XOXO

I can’t wait to travel again so I can go back to VA Beach and look up your booth. So many neat things. I’ve been collecting wooden pieces to rehab and create signs with my Christmas gift, a Cricut. Can’t wait to follow all your wonderful examples. I love your site and instructions
Christy says
Thank you so much, Lynn! At least with this crazy year, it has given us all something to look forward to in the future! Have fun playing with your new toy! That will be fun! XOXO

Karen Jackson says
Your things are just beautiful. I love that country French/vintage look. Where do you find your furniture and the gorgeous floral decoupage you use on the furniture?
Christy says
Thank you so much, Karen! I find most of my furniture at thrift stores. This year I was blessed with a large haul of furniture by someone locally who was moving and needed to get rid of it. That was awesome! The decoupage is a transfer made by Prima. I found that one here and you can find more on Etsy if you search transfers. They are fantastic! XO
Lorrie S. says
I love seeing your projects . They inspire me! Where do you find your beautiful transfers?
Christy says
Thanks so much, Lorrie! I find my transfers on Amazon and also on Etsy. If you do a search for Prima transfers on Etsy, you’ll see a bunch pop up! XOXO
