Hello dear friends!! I’m back today with a long-overdue booth update! I tweaked my back last week and I am still on the mend (getting better though!), so I thought it was the perfect time to share my booth and all that has come and gone since we last visited.
The last time I shared it HERE was in March of 2021! Like I said, it was long overdue lol!
For those of you who might be new around here, I have a booth at the Virginia Beach Antique Mall here in Virginia Beach that I’ve had since 2014. That’s where I sell all the things I blog about, and every so often, I like to take y’all on a field trip to check it out.
I take a few photos with my phone each time I drop new things off or rearrange. Would y’all believe it’s been so long since our last visit there that I had over 700 booth photos on my phone?
Warning: A ton of photos ahead!
I have narrowed it down, but there are a still a lot of photos!
Let’s get to it, shall we?
Not long before we last visited a year and a half ago, it looked something like this:
I expanded my Dixie Belle display in 2020 to accommodate my growing inventory, and the only place I could really put it was along that back wall so that you can see it when you enter the small room where my booth is located.
I don’t love it as a backdrop for my pieces that I redo though.
I originally started out with it on the wall to the left when I first expanded:
That left my shutter wall along the back open for displaying my treasures, and I loved this set up! Super cute, right??
However, here is the booth in front of mine, just to the left as you enter the room we’re in:
That large set of shelving completely obscured my paint when looking in from the doorway when I had it on that left side.
Our antique mall is huge, and I wanted people looking specifically for Dixie Belle to be able to locate me easily. So, to the back wall it went.
Oh how I wish I had her space!
Because I don’t love my booth set up at the moment, that is probably the reason I have put off sharing it for so long. You’ll see who else I share this room with in a bit.
On with the show!
That mermaid dresser in the first photo didn’t last long, and I rearranged, pulling various items together…
I missed having a taller piece there!
Then I rearranged again and pulled this color-coordinated group together:
I ended up redoing the green sign and table and the sign sold, but the table remains. Everything else sold but the white chair. Keep your eye out for that one!
The table/desk with the striped drawer that was in the center previously got moved to right of my Dixie Belle display:
I reshared that decoupaged mirror recently!
Everything in that photo eventually sold.
Then I changed up what was in the center once again…
I like to move things around often as you can see! Hello, white chair!
The table with the striped drawer got moved to the left wall:
That shelf that I added that gorgeous transfer to didn’t last long at all, and I brought in that tall Farmhouse Green pub table as well.
A few of those smalls sold, and I brought in this sign and some cute baskets I redid:
That oval mirror and a few more smalls sold, and I brought in some new smalls.
I also brought in that shelf and chalkboard set hanging on the wall that I made from and old mirror and harp…
I often look out for items I can add to my booth as is also like that large picture. I just loved it!
I also brought in this sewing machine table turned dressing table that I replaced the top on:
The striped desk sold and in its place, I added this very tall hutch and the nicotine stained table that I saved:
I wasn’t sure this hutch would go quickly because it wasn’t nearly as pretty as it was filled with my ironstone in the post where I shared it, but it sold almost right away!
I then brought in this pretty dressing table and bench:
The bench sold right away without the dressing table.
I rearranged a few other things…
I really missed my shutter wall as a backdrop on that left side, so I moved two of my display cases over to the right side:
That left the wall to the left more open for my treasures!
You can barely see the blue stenciled desk I brought in as well as this cute bench I redid last Christmas:
That one is unrecognizable now!
The stenciled desk sold and in came this handsome dresser:
Here’s what was hanging out in the middle:
This bookcase was once part of my Dixie Belle display. I took it home and added stripes when I was ready to sell it, but then it just sat.
Then, I painted and attached that unique mirrored detail that came with it to the top. However, this piece it still in my booth! I am actually using it to display transfers at the moment, but I think people thought it was for only display all along.
That hexagon pedestal table was one I took home and redid. It sold not too long after I dropped it off.
This table is another piece that I took home and redid using Sea Spray to add texture:
It is still in my booth also, but it too is part of a display now as you’ll see later.
Here is a view of my booth from the door:
This building is pretty old and the floor shows it, so it’s not the prettiest backdrop. I try not to share photos that have so much floor in them lol. I technically have to stay behind the tape on the floor, so I couldn’t even fill that space if I wanted to!
And how about that lovely booth to the right there? Yup. Right across from mine.
I feel like it’s yelling at me to buy something ha ha. I’d love to have that booth too!!
This is mine across the way…
I sold the striped dressing table and then hadn’t sold anything else in a few days. I came in to find the two bulbs that are above my booth at the back were burnt out, but it’s kinda cozy, right?
I actually really liked it like this, but it was too dark to really see any of my products well.
I hardly sold anything while the lights were out. It appeared much darker in person.
I loved this little table! It sold quickly…
And I love this spindle footboard that I turned into a shelf:
It is still in my booth and I’m tempted to keep it!
I think I have it priced a bit high, but it’s a one-of-a-kind treasure!
I loved this mirror harp turned mantel also! As soon as I hung it up here, it sold.
And I also added this pretty chandelier! It was a yard sale find that I painted. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have any power to it since I cut it.
I only intended it to be for looks as part of my display, but it would have come in handy while the bulbs were out!
I also brought in this sweet set:
And then there was light! I rearranged once again…
My Silk Paint sales slowed way down, so I ended up moving those two display shelves back to the left side wall:
I see you there, white chair.
And this pretty side table came in…
How cute is this set of cherub candle holders? I never shared them on the blog. They just got a quick paint job and some cheat distressing…
Here’s the area to the right where the two display cases were that I moved back:
The next addition was this gorgeous dresser:
One of my favorites!
Here is the area to the left:
The blue dresser sold and that Steel Magnolia table to the right just sold this week.
I then had to make room for my Redesign with Prima Transfer inventory, so I squeezed it on in there:
Remember those huge candlesticks? They didn’t last long at all.
Then I brought in this spindle bed that I turned into a bench:
And I finally got my Terra Clay paint in woohoo!
I squeezed that in on the left side:
I grouped this dresser, stenciled demilune table, and cutie pie hydrangea cabinet made from an old clock, in the center:
They all sold within a week! However, the white chair hangs on!
Then the headboard bench got moved to center stage:
And that is where it is now.
I had a few mini sweater pumpkins left over from last year, so I brought those in too!
I guess nobody needs a lone white chair?
That’s okay…it’s been a good piece to stage with!
Here’s how the area to the left looks now:
And on the opposite side, after the sweet pink and white striped desk set old, I hung the mini transfers in its place.
So for now, that’s my transfer corner. The bookcase on the right is now holding my Dixie Belle transfers. (It backs up to the glassware booth.)
Those mini transfers may end up back on the standing shutter display if I need that space for more furniture.
I have two dressers in my current haul that I’ll need to find room for, and one of them is huge!
I’m a bit surprised this dresser is still here. I’ve been on the lookout for a night table in a similar style that I can do to match.
It does look pretty in my booth though and has sold a few of the Vigorous Violet transfers!
I desperately need more space!
Maybe next time we take a trip to my booth, on of those booths will have opened up. Here’s hoping!
I hope y’all enjoyed the tour!

Christy,
Thanks for the tour! Your treasures are lovely, but my favorite thing about following you is that you are completely transparent and generous in sharing your experience! Knowing that not every item sells fast is the key. If you only shared the fast sales, anyone who ventured into the business might quit because they thought they were failing. Tips on staging. Tips on pricing. Tips on how to refurbish things. Everything anyone needs to be successful. That is truly kindness. Maybe when I retire…hmmm…
Christy says
My pleasure, Jan! Thank you so much! I should have mentioned also in today’s post that although I sold many things, that was over a year and half ha ha! It is important not to get discouraged and to give it time for your people to find you! XOXO
Janette says
I would just love to visit your booth, its choc full of the most gorgeous items not to mention all the paints and transfers. I can’t understand how someone hasn’t snatched up that stunning dresser, its so beautiful, sure it will go soon. Thanks so much for sharing, I love to see your ‘stuff’.
Hope your back is soon much better.xx
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Janette! I’m surprised that dresser is still there too, but it in the meantime, it pretties up my booth lol! I appreciate the well-wishes! XOXO
Denise E Hubbard says
Hi Christy! I love your store! Always wondered what it looked like, so I am glad to see it. I am both sad and happy that I live on the west coast because I would be broke shopping at your store! I especially love, love, love that round white table with the roses on the drawer. Really beautiful! I look forward to seeing more. Take care!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Denise! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tour! I wish you were closer lol! XOXO
Mary Kaiser says
Wow, thats so awesome your booth is doing well. If I lived in Virginia Beach that violet dresser would not still be there. I wish I lived closer, but it is probably a good thing I don’t because you would have an empty booth and I would have a really full house!!
Christy says
Thank you so much, my friend! Ha ha and I would sell you all the things! XOXO
Lori Troxclair says
Thanks for the booth tour, it looks so pretty !! You have such an imagination and I’m jealous !! Lol
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Lori! I’m glad you enjoyed it! XOXO
Jenny says

Your booth is more visually appealing and pleasing to the eye. So don’t worry!!
Oh, I saw 2 glass jars with metal lids with points, still available if so I want them!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Christy says
Thanks so much, Jenny! I appreciate that! Those have sold, I’m afraid. They were super cute! XOXO
Carolyn G says
I thoroughly enjoyed the tour! What a wonderful booth filled with all your gorgeous redos. It’s no wonder they don’t last for long! I have a couple booths too but they sure don’t look this good! Thank you for taking the time to share. I hope you get to expand soon! 😃
Christy says
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Carolyn! Thank you! I hope so too and here’s to a good fall season for us both! XOXO
Robin Simonds says
Thanks for sharing your booth update. Hard to believe it has been a year and a half since the last one!! Wow. And thanks for sharing all the tips on having a booth. Oh how I wish we could take time to come visit your booth and the antique mall in your area. Maybe someday 💖
Well keep inspiring us. I look forward to all your posts/ blog
Christy says
It was my pleasure, Robin! It was long overdue for sure. Thank you! XOXO
Joni Gonzales says
Hey Christy,
Have you thought about putting gauzy white curtains on your Dixie belle shelves? You could leave the middle of the curtains open so it’s obvious when looking into your booth that you have the paint but it’s not so much in your face? And they would go with your beachy feel.
Thanks for the peek into your booth. I hope your back feels better soon!
Christy says
Hi Joni! That’s not a bad idea! I’ll give it some thought. Thank you! XOXO
Deb says
I always love to see what you have in your booth and especially how you display the items. I am sure that violet dresser is just waiting for the right home to go to. I wished I lived a little closer.
Christy says
I’m so glad to hear that, Deb, thank you! Someone is meant to have that pretty piece for sure! XOXO
Bev says
So inspiring! So talented! Best wishes that everything goes before the holidays!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Bev! XOXO
Linda says
Thanks for this booth update, Christy! I loved seeing the evolution. I don’t know how you have time to do all that you do, but I always feel inspired after seeing your posts. If I ever get to Virginia Beach, shopping your booth will be one of the highlights!
Christy says
Aww it was my pleasure, Linda! I’m so glad you enjoyed visiting, and yes, if you ever make it this way, I hope you get to stop by! XOXO
Kathy says
Hi Christy,
I live north of Atlanta but went to visit my sister in law in Virginia beach and went to visit your booth! I got a few paints and transfers. I spotted the bookcases full of paints and that’s when I knew I found you! Plus I spotted the lavender chest of drawers. You have a lovely booth!
Hope to visit again soon,
Kathy
Christy says
Oh yay!! I’m so glad you got the chance to visit, Kathy!! Thank you so much!! XOXO
Cheryl Atkinson says
Hi Christy!! Thank you for the tour. Your booth is huge compared to mine. I can fit 3-4 pieces of furniture in mine with smalls. You do really well. I loved your booth tour!!
Christy says
Thanks so much, my friend! I should have mentioned that although it seems like I sold a lot, that was over a year and a half time period lol! I’m coming up on my slow season now, and then it will pick back up after the holidays! XOXO
Teresa Farrell says
Christy,
Everything looks so beautiful. I need to get a paint order ready, just haven’t been painting much this year.
Have you used the clay paint? If so, what do you think? Your booth really is awesome…now I’m ready for your Halloween pics of the house.🤣
Christy says
Thank you, Teresa! I have used the new clay paint on this piece: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/terra-clay-paint-case-makeover/ It was fun to play with! I especially love how easily it blended and distressed! And ha ha yep…it’s almost that time!! XOXO
Celia says
Ok I think the dizziness has passed! Whew that’s a lot of moving around! It all looks great though and your booth looks inviting and curated. I too have a small booth in a large antique store and it’s a challenge to refresh it and bring in new things so thanks for all your photos and tips.
Christy says
Ha ha it really is! I’m always moving things around. Thank you so much! I love having new things to add to the mix. I hope you have a successful fall season! XOXO
Cecilia from Georgia says
Finally! I have been hoping you would take us on a tour and I enjoy how your furniture sold and even the white chair! I love seeing how you place things around the middle and stack things. Your DB products look great and I’m so happy you are doing good with them. Take care and see ya Tuesday!
Christy says
Thank you so much, my friend! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tour! It was long overdue. It’s always fun for me to look back and see what has come and gone when I do these posts. Enjoy your week… I hope that storm isn’t coming for ya! XOXO
Sandra says
Beautiful stuff there! Those cherub candle holders are so unique & amazing that I tried to find them in your Etsy shop. Do tell us more about them soon!
Christy says
Thank you, Sandra! They sold over the summer. They really were cute! I found them at the thrift store boxed as a set still in the styrofoam packaging. They were yellowed and dingy. Painting them brightened them right up and brought them back to life! XOXO
Rhonda says
Loved the trip to your booth. It was fun to see everything again and what sold.
You have a great creative instinct and it’s fun to see what you do with your pieces. Thanks for the inspiration.
Christy says
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Rhonda! Thank you so much… I really appreciate that! XOXO
Joy says
I love your booth tours. I want my entire home to be furnished from your booth!
Christy says
Aww I love that so much!! I’m so glad you enjoy visiting my booth! XOXO
Janice Holt says
Love looking at your booth. It has to be so rewarding when you stage it and especially when things sell. Everything is so unique and that’s what I like most about it.
Christy says
Aww yay! I’m so happy you enjoy the booth tours! I really enjoy setting it all up. Thank you, Janice! XOXO
Meg says
It’s been awhile since I’ve expressed my love for everything you create. This tour was so inspiring and I love the incorporating of the variety of color. You’re Awesome!
Meg
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Meg! XOXO
Lizzy says
I really enjoyed this post. It’s fun to learn what happened with your items after you’ve shared their tutorials. If I walked into that antique mall, I would make a bee-line to your booth. Everything is so pretty!
Christy says
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Lizzy! Yep…that’s where everything goes! Thank you!! XOXO
Denise says
Your items are so beautiful and you stage everything so well. However, I must agree with you — you need more space. Here is hoping one of the next door neighbors makes the decision to retire. Thanks for the trip. That was so much fun! Stay well and hope you heal completely real soon.
Christy says
Thank you, Denise! I truly do, and I’m hoping that happens soon. I appreciate the well-wishes! XOXO
Robyn Wright says
You’re booth is always so beautiful! It is very cozy indeed!
Christy says
Thank you so much, my friend! XOXO
Niki says
Thanks for the trip Christy!! I would so enjoy a flea market day. There is one in Billings in a couple weeks but I just can’t afford two nights in hotel to go down there. At any rate it’s fun to see some of your booth redo’s and to see some of the fun furniture flips again too.
Christy says
You are so welcome, Niki! I’d love a flea market day too! We don’t really have any near here either. Glad you enjoyed the tour! XOXO
Marian says
Cristy, I really enjoyed visiting your booth. I wish I lived closer. I probably would be one of your best customers. Thank you for the tour!
Christy says
Oh I’m so glad to hear it, Marian! I wish you were closer too! XOXO
Michele M. says
Can you hear me loudly sighing all the way from mid Ohio, Christy???
And that dressing table – how is it possible it hasn’t sold. I’d LOVE to own that, love love love love it. And that violet dresser? It truly is extraordinary.
Love your booth and hope you one day can get a larger space. You need it. You are THAT GOOD.
Christy says
You are the sweetest, Michele!! Thank you! The dressing table did sell. The only decent pieces of furniture I have in there at the moment are the headboard bench and the dresser. I am surprised the dresser is still there though. It’s just waiting for the right person to come along! I do desperately need more space! Thank you!! XOXO
Cheryl says
Love your booth!! The other two booths look like eyesores next to yours, lol! Hopefully, you can gain some room soon.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Cheryl! I do sometimes wonder if those booths stop people from coming into our room to see what I have at the back lol. Oh well… Hopefully I’ll be able to expand eventually! XOXO
Debra Hubbs says
Your booth is great. Many years ago I dreamed of doing what you’re doing. It just never happened. If I ever get back to Va Beach, which I plan to, I will definitely stop in.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Debra! Having a booth has allowed me to create for my blog, so it has worked out really nicely. I hope you do get the chance to stop in if you’re ever in town again! XOXO
Connie Douglas says
Thank you so much for the tour of your beautiful booth! I’m in Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island, Wa. Or I’d noon on by. Love all your thing so much! Cheers and Happy Fall!
Christy says
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Connie! My sister was stationed at Whidbey Island several years ago. Fortunately, we got the chance to visit…it is just lovely there! XOXO
Kathy from Jax says
Hi Christy,
Your booth is lovely and represents all your love and talent for bringing a new look to things that just need an update or have been neglected. I love the new displays. That purple dresser won’t last long and will be placed in another home to enjoy. My question is…October is just around the corner and I’m wondering when you’ll break out the Halloween decor? I can’t wait to see what your skeleton family will be up to this year.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Kathy! The skeletons will be emerging from the attic very soon ha ha! XOXO
Cecilia says
I always love seeing your booth! I wish I lived close enough to visit in person as I’d love to see all your pretties in person. Thanks for the tour 😊
Cecilia
Christy says
Aww thank you, Cecilia! I wish you lived closer too! XOXO
Petra says
Lovely to see your booth again! Can’t believe it’s been THAT long!!! I’d love a booth myself but down under they’re SO expensive – there doesn’t seem to be much of that sort of thing around. Probably an outside weekend market stall is the only other option – but then you’ve got the weather to worry about!!! So…what are you going to do with that white chair 😀 I’m surprised it hasn’t been whipped up! xo
Christy says
I am so glad you enjoyed it, Petra! I couldn’t believe it had been that long either. Too bad there isn’t more of this sort of thing that’s more reasonable your way. As for the chair, I’m just going to let it hang in there lol! Have a great weekend! XOXO
Diana L Cosgrove says
Good Morning Christy… You are so generous to share your beautiful and creative style… The booth transformations are wonderful … Every single piece large or small have your unique use of color that I love to look at. I wondered if any of your customers ever asked you if you would consider decorating and updating their homes… You offer incredible style and your staging… you must incorporate some of your fabulous transformation pieces in the room makeovers that you are hired to perform. Perhaps during your slower seasons in your booth? You’re amazing!
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Diana! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tour! I have had people reach out asking for ideas for their own spaces. I think I would be a terrible designer though because I would only want to do what I want to do ha ha! If only there were more hours in the day! XOXO
Gail Hardy says
Hi Christy,
Your post came at the perfect time. I just started to search for a booth space in California and all your tips will come in handy.
I am also coming next week to visit my daughters family in Virginia and will be spending a few days in Norfolk and after seeing your post I have already informed my family that we will be taking a little side trip to visit your shop 😉
Christy says
Oh perfect…that was good timing! And yay! I do hope you get the chance to swing by! It’s a very large antique mall, but my booth is located along the back wall in a small room, opposite the front counter. Safe travels! XOXO
Cyndi says
I looooved this post! This was a lot of fun (and helpful). I hope you don’t wait this long again to give us a tour. 🙂
Christy says
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I think it had been so long since I shared my booth that I didn’t know if I’d ever be able to get through all those pictures lol. I’ll do better now ha ha! XOXO
Diana Cosgrove says
Good Morning Christie! You are so generous to share your beautiful Christmas home with us… I also want to thank you for sharing your booth recommendations and tips… they are all very helpful. We live in a tiny home in Massachusetts and I wonder where you store all of your makeovers especially the large furniture pieces? I have set up my work space in our basement, however, I could only store just so many items at any one time. I know that you have to be ready with replacement items and large pieces if your booth is selling for you. I have been offered a medium size space to sell in, but I had to decline the first offer because I do not feel that I was ready! I know they will reach out in the Spring so I must get to WORK!
Diana
Christy says
Hi Diana! I’m so glad the booth tips were helpful! Everything I redo goes right to the booth. If my booth is full, I work on smalls until space opens up. Then I usually have a few furniture pieces on standby to paint up when space opens up. Yes, get started now….you will love having a booth! Best of luck to you! XOXO
