Hand Made Gift Idea: Cross-Stitch People

Funny title...cross-stitch people...that is exactly what I'm sharing today. I'm not the creative genius behind this idea. If you don't love this idea, you can blame Martha.  I saw this in her magazine a couple of years ago and thought it would be so cute to make little cross-stitch versions of all my Mother-in-law's grandchildren as a gift for her. I know cross-stitch isn't everyone's thang, but this is really cute, right?  My sons and their cousins are all steps and stairs right now, so … [Read more...]

My mom has been looking high and low for a Christmas card holder.  It's been really hard to find them this year for some reason.  So, I decided to be a good little elf and make her one. How to Make an Illuminated Holiday Sign

The most important component of our Santa's Workshop is the sign that let's everyone know what it is.  Making the sign was pretty easy and would be a fun addition to any outdoor holiday display so I thought I'd share how I made it!  It's not too late to make one for this year.  After all, most of us keep our Holiday lights up until at least New Years, right? What you'll need: 3/8" ply wood (thick enough to be sturdy but not so thick that the lights won't show through the other side) … [Read more...]

How to Make a Silhouette Ornament

I've seen silhouettes popping up all over the place and I thought it would be fun to make silhouette ornaments as gifts!  I made these ornaments as gifts for my nieces. They were pretty simple to do, here's how... Gather your supplies: Black card stock, white card stock, scissors, frames, ribbon for hanging (or onament frames already made for hanging), side profile images First you'll need to re size your photos to fit your frames. I also inverted the colors on mine because I … [Read more...]

Building Santa’s Workshop

That's right! We built Santa's Workshop, right on our front lawn!  We love love love to deck our halls.  My husband doesn't stop until every last string of lights has found itself a home for the holidays. Here is proof...my husband had just gotten back from being diagnosed with a bacterial  upper respiratory infection less than an hour before I caught him doing this: That's him in the back yard putting up more Christmas lights he found in the garage. And I know he thinks I have a … [Read more...]
