Three French Trays

Bonjour!  It's day #12 of my March Madness series, and I am all about lovely French graphics today! I picked up this set of three trays at the thrift store a long long time ago: I paid about $13 dollars for all three, but aside from the broken handle on one of them, they were in perfect condition. I made these over to sell at my last Christmas Market show. They got a  fresh new attitude! They were painted with my favorite DIY Chalky paint recipe (using Cottage White by … [Read more...]

French Linen Server (TV Stand)

Guess what? It's day #11 of March Madness! Can you believe how fast March is flying by? I'm just glad we're finally seeing a little Spring weather around here! How about a furniture makeover today? At the same estate sale where I found this gorgeous dressing table for $40, I also picked up this unique piece for $35: It was in the dining room  and the bottom drawer has dividers for flatware, and I believe it had wheels at one time. It's a server of sorts. I gave it a makeover in … [Read more...]

Faux Drawer Tray

Hi there and welcome to Day #10 in this fun thrifty makeover series! Today's makeover is pretty quick and simple. I started with this tray I found at the thrift store for $2: Can't pass up a perfectly good wooden whatever-this-is, right? There wasn't much to it, but I figured I could make something out of it. To me it looked like it could be a small drawer if it had a knob, so I gave it the feel of a repurposed drawer: Here it is in my dining room hutch holding a few … [Read more...]

Stool Revived

Hey there, awesome friends! Welcome to day#6 of March Madness! Today I'm sharing a simple stool makeover.  Please tell me I'm not the only one who chuckles at the word, "stool"? "Stool Makeover" is even funnier to me. Any who...I found this crusty and dusty stool (ha ha) in the same shed I dug my Farmhouse Hutch out of at an estate sale. Here is the before, crust and all: Only $2 and free crust? Yes I'll take it! After a little de-crusting and a some sanding and some painting and … [Read more...]

Sewing Cabinet Side Table

Woohoo day #5! Are you enjoying March Madness so far? I hope so because I sure am! Today's thrift store deal was this sewing cabinet that I picked up for $9.95. It has definitely seen better days: The top folds out to the side to reveal a work table and a space for a sewing machine. I love sewing tables as side tables because they are a great height. Here is her makeover: Paint is like magic in a can! I sanded this a bit more than I usually do because this was a … [Read more...]

Lamp to Memo Chalkboard

If you've been following March Madness, welcome back! It's day #4 of my 31 Thrifty Makeovers in 31 Days! Today I'm sharing what I did with the goldalicious pineapple lamp I received in my Swap it Like it's Hot package. I received these two items from my friend, Shanna at Restoration Redoux for this fun challenge: I shared what I did with the basket yesterday, but I saved the lamp for today. I told you yesterday that it was no longer gold and it was no longer a lamp. Both are … [Read more...]

Flea Market Swap: Fabric Covered Basket

Hi friends and welcome to day #3 of March Madness, 31 thrifty makeovers in 31 days! I have a special treat today! I am so excited to be participating in a Flea Market Swap AKA Swap it Like it's Hot!  This is a challenge where a bunch of crazy bloggers came together to swap thrift store crap, and then we each have to work our magic on what we got!  How fitting is this for my own March Madness challenge? You could send pretty much anything and my thought was, the cheesier the better! Well my … [Read more...]

Fancy Chalkboards

Hi friends! Welcome to day two of March Madness! Today I'm sharing some pretty fancy chalkboards. Here is how they started: Ooh gold is pretty fancy, right? I picked these up at an estate sale for $10 for all three!!! Two of them had paintings in them when I bought them. The prices were SO cheap! I decided to paint them and add chalk boards to them. Here they are all dressed up and ready to go to market:   Not quite as fancy as the gold, but still pretty fancy for … [Read more...]

Shabby Little Rocking Chair

Guess what day it is? It's Themed Furniture Thursday! My painting pals and I share a furniture makeover around the third Thursday of every month and this month's theme is chairs. Pretty simple, right? I chose to redo this little rocking chair I picked up at the thrift store for $4: A little country charmer at one point, I'm sure. I decided to give it a shabby little makeover:   I used spray paint for this one. I wasn't looking forward to painting all the spindly … [Read more...]

Dressing Table Bench Makeover

Hello friends! Have you ever peeled off wallpaper to reveal another layer underneath? And then another layer underneath? And so on? That was what happened to me only with a dressing table bench! My Mom picked this up at the same estate sale where she scored these amazing French provincial chairs. (Trust me, they did NOT start out amazing.) We had been together the day before and she went back for the chairs, so I sent her in after the bench as well since it was the last day and everything was … [Read more...]
