Fabric Inlaid Mirror

Are you up for a thrifty makeover today? Well I hope so because that's exactly what I'm sharing! I found this very dated mirror for $8 at the thrift store a few weeks back: Immediately when I saw it, I imagined fabric in the panel on top. First I removed the mirror and painted the frame in DIY chalk paint in Cottage White by Behr. Bye bye ugly mirror! I gave it three coats, then sanded the edges a bit. Then I sealed it with Minwax paste wax. This was my first time using … [Read more...]

Scallop Shell Terra Cotta Pot {Terra Cotta Pot Challenge}

Well hello there! It's time for our monthly décorating challenge! Last month the challenge was decorating with baskets. In case you missed it, here's what I shared:  Beachy Basket Makeover Now we have a new challenge! Here is my clay pot before: I found three of them at a yard sale for 25¢ a piece ages ago and they've just been sitting in my garage ever since. With the Summer rolling in I've been enjoying adding a few beachy elements to my spaces lately. It started with … [Read more...]

DIY Shell Garland

Well hello again! Didn't I just see you yesterday? Yes I am posting again ya'll and guess what? I broke out the shells again too!  My friend Kathy from Petticoat Junktion had a great idea for us all to come up with a fun project using shells. Now I just posted the perfect project for this challenge yesterday! I shared this fun shell wreath inspired by Pottery Barn that just screams SUMMER! Pottery Barn Inspired Shell Wreath So for today's project I had to think what I could possibly come … [Read more...]

Beachy Basket Makeover

Hi there! Remember when I shared my hutch decorated three ways as part of a decorating challenge with some of my favorite blogging friends? Well today we're back and this month's decorating challenge is baskets! I see baskets used  mostly for storage of course, but there's no reason they can't be functional and decorative right? The basket I'm sharing today was a $2 thrift store find that I of course I had to make over, because making over stuff is what I do, ya'll. :) It started out like … [Read more...]

Owl Figurine Refresh

Hi my sweet friends and welcome to makeover day #17! I gave you a BIG reveal yesterday, but today I'll be sharing a tiny one! This was a simple makeover that anyone can do! This past summer, I happened upon the yard sale of the biggest owl collector there ever was. Seriously I've never seen so many owls amassed in one location. One of the owls spoke to me. Well not really, that would be creepy! But I just had to bring this little guy home with me...for all of 10¢. Look at those sweet … [Read more...]

Paris, Table for Two

Hi friends!  Welcome to thrifty makeover #16! I've so enjoyed spending every day here with you this month, if only I could keep it up! Today I'm sharing a furniture makeover, and I hope you love today's makeover as much as I do! I found this table and chair at the Salvation Army last year and they have been buried in my garage ever since. I spied the table almost right away and I loved it. I'm not sure why. The two chairs were nearby and looked like a good match. Furniture was half … [Read more...]

Basket Upcycle

Hi friends! Welcome to day 15 of my March Madness, 31 Thrifty Makeovers in 31 days series! We are just about at the halfway mark and I still have a bunch of thrifty makeovers coming your way. Today I am sharing how I upcycled this little basket: I found it at the thrift store for $1.25. It was probably donated because one of the handles was coming unraveled. I came up with an easy fix, but first it got a new paint job. (You know I can't ever leave well enough alone.) Adding jute … [Read more...]

Planter Box from a Thrift Store Throw-Away

Fourteen thrifty makeovers delivered. Whew! Some have been small and some not so small, but they are fun to see either way, right? Today's makeover is a small one, but worth seeing I think! I found this homely little wooden apple box for $1.25 at the thrift store: Sadly, this probably would have matched my décor at one time. Oh I went through a country décor phase all right. In my defense, my décor was based mostly on what my Mom was giving away at the time! Getting rid of the … [Read more...]

Rosette Picture Frame

Hi friends! It's day 13 here in my March Madness series and today I'm sharing a super sweet way to update a plain picture frame. Frames are one thing I look out for when I'm thrifting because they can be transformed so many different ways. It's funny that I rarely use them as actual picture frames though. This time is different. I found this swanky (eh not so much) oak picture frame at a yard sale: It was in a box of frames very similar but in varying sizes. The whole box was $2! That … [Read more...]
