Hello lovelies!! I’m back today with another piece from my Operation Redo Haul. This haul consists of several items that have been sitting in my booth for way too long, so I am giving them all fresh makeovers! I do believe that the right person just needs to come along sometimes, but I thought reimagining these pieces instead would be fun!
Today’s piece is a drum table that looked like this when I acquired it from my mom a few years ago:
I had found one very similar that was more petite. My mom decided that one would fit her space better, and so she had me paint it for her in exchange for this larger one.
I put it in my booth as is, but it just sat and sat.
Then, I had a suggestion to redo it to match this dresser that I redid in 2020:
I loved that idea, so I did it!
I thought it turned out so pretty, however, the dresser sold without the table, and it has just been sitting in my booth ever since.
So, I decided to bring it home to redo!
Should I keep it??
Once I got it home, I started thinking that it might work better as my own bedside table than what I am currently using.
Here is the piece I have in there:
It is considerably more petite than my husband’s night table on the opposite side, and I thought this larger table might work better, so I set out to redo it for our room!
A simple makeover
This might be the easiest redo ever because it already matches the rest of our furniture which has all been painted in Dixie Belle’s Fluff.
All I had to do was work on the drawer!
Prep
I started by sanding away the old transfer:
You don’t really have to sand the entire transfer off…it just needs to be smooth enough to paint over.
Then, I filled in the old pull holes with Dixie Mud in white since I planned to use a single knob instead:
I let it dry overnight and then sanded smooth with 220 grit sandpaper…
Occasionally, you might need to reapply the mud one more time and let it dry again.
Paint
Then I pulled out a gorgeous blue color called Blueberry.
It appears to have almost a hint of purple in it here, but it is a very Laura Ashley blue in my opinion! I did a little blending on the center of the drawer using Fluff and my continuous mist spray bottle:
Our quilt on our bed has small blue flowers on it that are very similar in color, so I thought this would be pretty!
Then, I pulled out the Vintage Floral Transfer to see if I could find some pretty flowers that would work on the front of this drawer:
This transfer is one of the special buy transfers that Dixie Belle put out last year. They were testing out a new transfer company and ordered this and the Cherry Blossom Transfer as a test run. They ended up not going with this company and put these on special at $19.95 to liquidate them. They do take little more effort to rub on, but there are some pretty ones in there!
I started with this pretty white flower:
Then, I cut a bunch of other pieces that I thought could work…
When I was satisfied with the final look, I sealed with Clear Coat in satin using the blue sponge applicator. Using the sponge to apply sealer is SO much easier!
The After
Here is how this sweet table looks now:
I love these sweet florals against this pretty blue!
And this petite glass knob is so much sweeter than the original pull that was on there.
I added a little something to the inside of the drawer as well…
I didn’t need to do anything to the rest because even after sitting in my booth for almost a year, it was still in perfect shape!
I used the cheat method to very lightly faux distress this one since I was painting over a more cream color when I first redid it, and I didn’t want that to show through.
It looks legit though!
Adding a little blue to our room will be fun for Spring and Summer, and if I tire of it, it’s easy enough to change ha ha!
At least I don’t have to worry about this selling now since I kept it!
Here is what our bedroom furniture once looked like:
Bleh!! I can’t believe I lived with it like that for so long! This was my hubby’s set when we got married and painting it was the best decision ever!!
See our bedroom and how all of these pieces look now HERE!
That’s another redo complete!
Only three more pieces left! See the first two HERE and HERE if you missed them.
I’ll be back on Thursday sharing how I reimagined this cabinet door sign:
See ya then!!
UPDATE! No need to wait, see it here now!
XOXO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!
If you like what you see, there are several ways to follow along!

I love them drum tables. I really like the make-over you done on yours. That blue is so pretty but if my hubby was to use it as his night stand, he would have to have it more masculine looking. He likes flowers but not for him to be using it himself sooooooooooo what he doesn’t like; I keep for myself. :}
I have noticed at our local Antique Mall that them drum tables sell fast or way too expensive of an asking price for me.
I do enjoy seeing your furniture make-overs. You are a Great Inspiration and have given me many ideas. Thank You
Enjoy your day and Happy Shopping on your next adventure
Christy says
Thank you, Colleen! I love them too! Yeah, my hubby’s nightstand is much more masculine for sure! Have a great day! XOXO
Cyndi says
Pretty, pretty! You did a great job blending the paint too!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Cyndi! XOXO
Mary Kaiser says
Well, it was beautiful before, but I love the color and the flowers take it over the top! It is so cute how you put a transfer inside also. Good for you in doing a piece for you, I Love it!
Christy says
Thank you, my friend! It’s nice to do something for me every once in a while lol! XOXO
Cheryl Atkinson says
I love this. I have never used Blue berry. Is that transfer available?
Christy says
Thank you, Cheryl! I really love this color, and I do still have a few of these transfers left here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1075881005/vintage-floral-belles-and-whistles XOXO
Charleen says
I thought this table was adorable the first time. I think it is Fab this go round! I love blues of any hue pastel tint what have you . That little bit. Perks it up. Beautiful job. Now the question is,what are you going to do with the smaller table you replaced this BEAUTY with??
Christy says
Aww thank you, Charleen! I’m not sure where the other one will end up…it’s in my son’s room for now until I decide if I’m ready to part with it lol! XOXO
Denise Cox says
It’s lovely…so fresh!!!
Christy says
Thank you, Denise! XOXO
Janice Holt says
I love the blue on the drawer; not that it wasn’t pretty before. Great idea to keep it and use it. The transfer inside the drawer is a nice surprise.
Christy says
Thank you, Janice! I thought it would be sweet for a change in there! XOXO
Christina says
Oooo I like this so much Christy!!! Adds a bit of Spring Zing to your bedroom I bet! Will you re-do the table that was there and put that in your booth?
Have a GREAT week!!
Christy says
Thank you, Christina! It really does! That table will likely end up in my booth, but to redo or not to redo? Will see! You have a great week too, my friend! XOXO
Michele M. says
Oh it looks so pretty, Christy! I love how you styled it – but am dissapointed you didn’t show it in your bedroom, tho! Bet it looks fab – esp marrying the blue flowers in your quilt to your “new” table! I think you will find you love a larger taller piece there. Hope so. If not it will surely sell this time should you decide to put it up for sale. Well done!!!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Michele! Do you know why I didn’t photograph it in our bedroom? Our bedroom is still decorated for Christmas ha ha! Yes, I haven’t been able to quite let go of it all, but now that some warmer days are teasing us, it will all come down soon! XOXO
Cecilia says
I liked the before but love that touch of blue! Good call in keeping it. Does that mean the previous one will go to the booth? 😉
Hugs, Cecilia
Christy says
Thank you, Cecilia! The other one will likely end up in my booth…it’s in Jack’s room for now. XOXO
Sandra says
It looks beautiful…I don’t think drum tables sell as well as they used to..I don’t know why. I love the two tone drawer front.
Christy says
Thank you, Sandra! Perhaps not…someone mentioned that people prefer tables with more storage. That totally makes sense, but since all I need is a place for my glasses, this works great! XOXO
TRACY A TOTTY says
This time is a winner! I really think the blue is so pretty.
Christy says
Thank you, Tracy! XOXO
TRACY A TOTTY says
I looked at it again and I think what I like so much is the subtle bit of white which I decided makes it look like a blue sky with clouds and flowers on a Spring day
Christy says
Oh yes…it sure does! 😀
Gn says
Hi Christy,
I love the redo but the color and detail is all by itself. Ifa band. of blue went all the way around it would make it look more cohesive. Your so talented and I love seeing all your projects redone.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Gn! I somewhat agree! I had considered painting the entire top, but for our space, I just wanted a hint of blue, so this was just enough. 🙂 XOXO
Gayle says
I love the redo! But then, I also loved the original redo. Lol! Thanks for the double dose of inspiration!
Christy says
Aww thank you, Gayle! XOXO
Cecilia from Georgia says
Blueberry just shouts Spring! I’m not completely on board with just painting the drawer and putting the transfer on it….but it is a nice change. The picture of you and your sisters is priceless; you all look so much alike! Have a great weekend!
Christy says
Thanks, Cecilia! I had considered painting the entire top, but I didn’t want that much color in our bedroom. It’s a sweet change for the warmer months, and I may stain the top down the road as I did like the look of the table that was there before. And yes… my sisters and I do favor one another! XOXO
Denise says
This table has gotten a lot of mileage! Gorgeous makeover my friend! 💙
Christy says
Ha ha it’s been around a few times! Thank you, my dear friend! XOXO
Dianne says
Christy I have loved the drum table since you painted it the 1st time. When I went into your booth and saw it I wanted it. I went home and got my tape measure and dropped back by and measured and sad to say it wouldn’t fit in my space where I wanted to put it. I redid our youngest sons room for a guest room and that drum table was the perfect look for it. Oh well. Love the way it looks now for your room.
Christy says
Thanks, Dianne! Too bad it didn’t work out for your space. I’m glad I ended up bringing it home since it works in our bedroom now! Have a great weekend, my friend! XOXO
Constance Colvin says
Yep, awesome Christy!
Christy says
Thanks so much, Connie! XOXO
Sharon L Austin says
I’m really sad to see the old look go, but I really love that blueberry color!! Glad you’re going to keep it. 🙂
Christy says
Thank you, Sharon! I was sad it didn’t sell as I really liked it as it was! Oh well…glad it worked out for my room! XOXO
Mary says
Wowza Christy!! This is just gorgeous! I love the transformation so much and I loved the table before the transformation too…..but this is truly gorgeous!
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Mary!! It is looking pretty beside my bed!! XOXO
shan says
That blue is beautiful! I also love your “cheat” method. It took me a few times to get it right, but once I did, it’s a game changer. Thank you
Christy says
Thank you, Shan! The cheat method does take a bit of practice, but it is such a great cheat lol! XOXO
