Hey there amazing friends! I’m back with my Furniture Fixer Upper girls sharing the first piece of my brand new haul!!
I am super excited about this one! First, here is my new stack of goodies ready and waiting to be transformed:
I actually found some decent furniture pieces this time, thanks mostly to an estate sale that I visited last weekend. I get really discouraged with the estate sales in our area because they are so incredibly overpriced!
This one actually wasn’t too bad though, and since it was the last day, everything was 50% off! YAY!! I scored that desk for $19, the pretty cabinet with the fretwork in the door for $24, and today’s piece, this very cool shelving unit for $60:
I loved the carved details on this one, but years of heavy use in the kitchen had left the finish in rough shape:
I loved the distressed carved pieces between each shelf so I decided to tape those off with FrogTape and paint just the back and shelves:
I used leftover paint from our walls here…Campfire Ash by Behr! Even though it was an eggshell finish, I was still able to make it into chalk paint. (Recipe HERE.) I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love.
I also decided to add some detail with this stencil to the square panels on top:
I used spray adhesive to hold it in place and a small brush and my Bit of Sugar chalk DIY chalk paint to fill it in.
I just used the leaves from this stencil and connected them by hand using a script liner brush…
I sanded everything lightly with 220 grit sandpaper and sealed with Dixie Belle’s satin topcoat.
Ready to see how it turned out??
You can better see the shabby parts of the shelf supports here…
I like them against the softer subtle Campfire Ash color. And leaving them as is saved me from having to paint all those details! Win!
My favorite might be the stencil…
It adds such a sweet detail that is perfectly in keeping with the beautiful support pieces.
Isn’t this such a gorgeous piece? I sure wish I had a spot for it!
I’m surprised this was still there. Maybe people were turned off by all the scuff marks. Luckily that was an easy fix!
It looks so pretty holding my thrifted ironstone and painted baskets…
Remember that stack of baskets? They were part of a Painting the Smalls post. You can revisit that one HERE.
And these pretty flowers…
They are the same ones that came out of one of my Spring arrangements made from thrift store drawers that I shared not too long ago. They look pretty in this ironstone piece as well.
Don’t forget…my Furniture Fixer upper friends have furniture flips of their own to share with you today!!
I started with this shelving unit since it was the largest piece just so I could get it out of the garage, but there are many more to come!
I’ll meet ya’ll back here on Tuesday…I’ll be sharing how I transformed this tray:
UPDATE: See how I updated this tray HERE now!
Have an amazing weekend!
