Hello awesome Friends! I am SO excited to share a sneak peek of the feature wall in my new office today!
I had originally planned to add some kind of pattern with moldings to highlight the main wall behind my desk. Then I received an email asking if I would like to try AirStone for a project in our home. You know we had a lot of stone in our old house, and I had never really imagined it for this house, but I decided to go for it!
Here is the wall before:
I painted all the other walls and just cut in a bit on this one. I decided it would be best if we did this wall before installing our new floors.
AirStone can be found at most Lowes stores. I snapped this pic at my local Lowes the other day:
It comes in three colors. I chose Birch Bluff:
I think I may have had a “What have I gotten myself into??” moment when this arrived:
There was no need to worry though as soon as I saw it finished. It is gorgeous!
I used a total of 15 cases and three tubs of their adhesive for our 9′ X 13′ foot wall.
Here it is going in:
I chose to start it right over the existing molding…
I don’t think the color sample they showed on the display in the store does it justice. The colors are so much nicer in reality, and I just love the texture they add to this space:
Each box has an assortment of varying sizes and shades, so Jack helped me lay out a couple of boxes out at a time so I had a nice assortment to choose from as I went.
You can install it using only these items:
I did end up using my miter saw for speed, but it can totally be cut with a hand saw.
The adhesive is really easy to work with and has almost no odor:
You just spread it on each piece of stone like you’re icing a cupcake!
And stick it to the wall!
Easy, and AirStone weighs 75% less than real stone, but still has a nice weight to it.
Here’s something I love that I thought y’all would think was cool too:
It’s made from recycled wine bottles! How cool is that?
Here is a little 30 second video that shows a little more about this product:

I hate to keep y’all in suspense, but I’ll be back on Thursday to share the finished wall. I absolutely love how it turned out, especially with my new floors and my newly painted desk!

It looks gorgeous so far! The only question I have is about a full wall of it on a PLAIN wall (vs a fireplace wall that has a mantel). How can you hang anything on the wall after you do the entire wall with it? Like what if down the road you decide you want pictures or a shelf. Or do you have to decide that once it’s up, that is it….nothing on the wall. Just do a wall you are SURE you will never add anything to. Just curious (because one day I might wanna add this GORGEOUS feature to a wall near me. lol)
Christy says
Thank you, Robin! You can absolutely hang things on this wall. Either choose things that aren’t super heavy or drill through so that you can use wall anchors with the drywall behind it. 🙂
Julie Briones says

Hi, So happy I found your site (completely by accident), can’t stop looking at all your ‘redos’. Being a thrift store stalker myself, I love to give new life to older discarded pieces, especially anything made out of wood! Planning on redoing my Mom’s buffet and hutch (1970’s) rock maple. Thinking of a dark grey chalk paint finish. I have refurbished many wooden jewelry boxes and Love the results, so now it is on to bigger things!!
Thanks for sharing yours!

Hi JoAnn from Montreal! I’m so glad you found me! There’s nothing better than giving life to something long forgotten. It allows us to treasure those pieces like your Mom’s buffet and hutch even longer since you can make them match your own décor! Thanks for taking a minute to say hello! Happy New Year! XO
