Y’all, what can I say? I love Halloween!! Pulling out my decorations instantly makes me giddy…like a kid again! Halloween is is the one holiday where just about anything goes. Dear friends, I am thrilled to share my Halloween decorations with you today!
Those of you that have followed me for a while are well aware of my affinity for Halloween, but if you’re new around here, I think you just might enjoy it also. We don’t do blood and gore around here, just some classic skeleton party fun!
Outdoor Halloween Decorations
I didn’t change things up too much this year.
These guys are just to the left of the photo above:
Not much going on here…just a skeleton free-for-all.
And to the left of these skeletons who are up to no good sits the gargoyle:
He was new last year and breathes fog on Halloween night! Spooky!
And how about this handsome friendly family?
It was on the verge of raining the day I took these, but I liked the dreary effect for Halloween, so I had to snap them quick!
The fencing around the cemetery was a new addition last year. I found it in the garden section at Home Depot:
There’s more to see the closer you get, and actually a few DIY projects too!
The BEWARE sign is from way back in 2013…I shared that HERE.
I love all the spooky-faced pumpkins!
This Dead and Breakfast Inn sign was also a DIY project from back in 2015 that I was inspired to make by Better Homes and Gardens:
I used a mailbox post from Home Depot to make mine!
Up on the porch is this gal:
…who looks like she’s playing the piano from the street, I’ve been told:
I love this collection of headless photos…
Pottery Barn once offered the download of a set of them on their site, but that was long ago and they no longer offer it. You can find a few of these images if you google headless portraits and select images.. Don’t worry, they are all clearly photoshopped!
A new addition this year is this rocking child:
The the bottom of the rocker broke off and I thought this was a fun way to reuse it.
This two headed skeleton is another new addition this year:
Let’s go inside, shall we?
Indoor Halloween Decorations
Welcome to our Halloween dining room!
Meet our party host!
How do you like her fancy dress? $6 at the thrift store! She’s a smart shopper!
It’s hard to see but we keep a black curtain up at the entrance to our kitchen so you can’t see beyond the spooky dining room at night. There is another door just to the right of that dresser and to the left of this staircase that is covered also:
Those are battery-operated tea lights that are on a timer in the jars and they light up at night. The staircase is what you see when you open the front door, and the dining room is to the left. We actually completely redid the stairs last year, replacing all the treads and risers and adding the decorative detail to the sides. It took us so long to complete it that I didn’t bother to share it lol.
This is a fancy affair!
You may remember this $2 flatware box that got a Halloween overhaul last year:
And here is how this party lights up at night:
All the candles are battery operated and operate on a timer also.
The dining room is the only room that we decorate inside and the reason for that is…you can see it clearly from the outside:
We have one of those creepy bulbs that makes it look like there’s a short in the electrical somewhere!
Here’s a couple of quick night time pics…
And that is our Halloween decor this year!
I usually add webbing, lights in jars, and lots of extras on Halloween night, plus we play spooky music! That really adds to the effect.
I hope you enjoyed the tour!
Here are 10 of my simple Halloween projects from over the years that you might enjoy also!
You can see them all HERE!
I know Halloween may look a little different this year, but I hope you have a safe and happy one, and I hope you get to see some littles all dressed up…that’s the best part!
I’ll be back on Tuesday with the first project from my Biggest Thrifty Haul of them Haul, this table:
See y’all then!
UPDATE: You won’t want to miss how cute this table turned out! See it HERE now!
XOXO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!
If you like what you see, there are several ways to follow along!

Christy says
Aww yay! I’m so glad you enjoyed our decorations, Janice! We store it all in our attic, but we have packing it up down to a science ha ha! We did miss having Jack’s help this year since he’s away at college, but Brennan helped as much as he could lol! XOXO
Rosie says

Marie-Interior Frugalista says
I look forward to this post every year, Christy! You’re the house that everyone from miles away must come to tour nightly. You guys do such an amazing job for Halloween – talk about attention to detail!
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Marie! We love it for sure! XOXO
Marci says
Hey Christy… awesome display as always! You must have a huge basement or storage unit to store all your props. Where did you find the spooky faced carved pumpkins? Did you carve real ones?
Christy says
Thank you, Marci! We store everything in our attic in tubs. We missed having my oldest here to help bring it all down since he’s away at college, but we didn’t let that deter us lol! I can usually find the spooky faced pumpkins at Target, Walmart, or even Home Depot. And we do usually buy real ones to carve also, but this is the first year we haven’t. XOXO
Becky says
I totally love it but, where do you store it all!?!?
Christy says
Ha ha thanks! It all goes up in our attic…we have the storage part down to a science! XOXO

Christy. Just one question..Oh my word ..where do you store all your delightful props.Yikes ..you must have a storage shred just for your Halloween goodies. Your neighbors must think around this time..”The James family seems to be such a nice family” broo ha!!!!!
Christy says
Thanks, Lorri! It all goes in our attic lol. It condenses surprisingly well once it’s all packed up. Our neighbors start asking about it every year before it goes up ha ha! XOXO

Christy says
Thank you, Claudine! I’m not a fan of the gore either…this is fun and just a touch spooky! Have a great weekend! XOXO
Frances Blunt says
Thanks for the tour! Your decor cheered me up. Outside rivals Halloween Hill in Milwaukee.
Inside is so fun! I love it!. And I love Halloween. Unfortunately I have been down with Covid and other problems and haven’t done my decorating this year. So, no get together on Saturday. Happy Halloween to my favorite DIYer. Fran

Christy says
Thank you, Elise!! Yes, it is hard to capture in photos, especially at nighttime! Happy Halloween!! XOXO
Kathy W F says
This is the best. I have to ask…how long does it take to put up? Hopefully it’s up for a while so everyone can enjoy. Next year I’m taking a road trip just so I can sit and take it all in. It’s “boo”-tiful and be-“witching”. I’ll bet everyone in the neighborhood loves it! Don t forget to look at the moon on Halloween. It’s full. Fun to all.
Christy says
Thank you, Kathy! It took a day to put up the outside and a few hours to do the dining room, but I’ll admit that’s because I haven’t changed it up a whole lot in the past couple of years…may have to change it up a bit next year! It is really so much better in person and at night! And yes, I saw the full moon last night! XOXO
Heather says
You are amazing! Your decorating is second to none, you really go all out. I bet the neighbours love you. Do you get a steady stream of cars coming past at night for the show?
Christy says
Aww thank you, Heather! We do get a lot of slow drive-bys lol! XOXO
Robin says
Love all the skellies!!! I find, however, that they are the hardest to store. When we moved I had a tall box in which one was placed in a squatting position. Then the loose skulls & bones & assorted crows were used as space fillers around it. The other came in its own box. Another tall box serves as storage for all my pumpkins & ghostly heads.
Christy says
Skeletons are so fun!! We fold the legs back and sit about four to a tub sitting up one behind the other like they are in a roller coaster car. It is quite funny to see actually. You can’t put a lid on them of course, but they store well that way in our attic. Happy Halloween, my friend! XOXO
Debbie in TX says
Totally wicked!! So much fun to check out all the decorations, I almost forgot there was a pandemic going on : ) Looks awesome, thanks for sharing! Happy Halloween!!!!!
Christy says
Thank you, Debbie!! I didn’t know what Halloween was going to look like this year, but I figured my neighbors could use the distraction this year more than ever! Happy Halloween!! XOXO
Barbara Holmes says
I love everything!!! My favorite is the skeletons all dressed up at the table. Thanks for sharing, it put a smile on my face!!!
Christy says
Thank you, Barbara! They are my favorite too and I’m so glad you enjoyed them!! XOXO
Cecilia from Georgia says
I love everything! My fav is the hottie in the strapless evening dress. I wish we lived closer so I could bring my grandson by. You are the Spook Queen!
Christy says
Thank you, Cecilia! Isn’t she fabulous? Then I remembered Jack had a black bow tie in his closet for one of the male guests…I’ll admit I had a little too much fun setting them all up! XOXO
Marietta Walker says
Oh My Gosh! I am very impressed! I smiled and laughed enough my husband wanted to see too. I would love to see the faces on the neighborhoods’ kiddos!
You really have outdone yourself!
Christy says
Aw yay!! I am so glad you enjoyed it, Marietta!! I love seeing the kids’ reactions when we start decorating and then on the actual night…so worth the effort! Happy Halloween! XOXO
Mariele Storm says
Oh man, you must have the best Halloween home in the whole neighborhood… maybe even city. 😀 It looks awesome! You’re so creative in how you put everything together, it’s just so much fun to look at. I bet your family and the neighborhood kids love it! Thanks for sharing your decor again this year, I didn’t even get a chance to put out a carved pumpkin or candy for kids, so it makes me feel like I didn’t miss out on Halloween quite so much, haha. 🙂
Christy says
Aww thank you, Mariele! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! The kids really do get a kick out of it! Happy Halloween! XOXO
Tracey Baxter says
Christy, your Halloween decorations and decor are brilliant. So much character, so much spooky skeletons, I have never seen such creativity, it is like a themed haunted house in Disneyland. I am in awe. Well done!
Terrific effort.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Tracey!! We have a lot of fun with it for sure, and I was very happy to see all the kids make it out last night in our neighborhood! XOXO
susan says
I just love it every year! So glad you didn’t let the pandemic scare you way! Do you guys dress up on Halloween and hang out with your skellies?
Christy says
Thank you, Susan! I usually do a half skeleton, half human face on Halloween and dress up a bit fancy to hand out candy…so fun, although last night was chilly lol! XOXO
Robyn Wright says
ALL OF THIS is FANTASTIC!!
You don’t dare come home drunk and forget they are fake. You’d scare yourself to DEATH!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
Christy says
Oh ha ha!! Nope better not try that! Glad you enjoyed the tour!! XOXO
Leslie says

Christy says
Thank you, Leslie! I’m so glad you enjoyed them!! XOXO
Laurie says
What a frightenly good display! After packing up your decor, you truly will have skeletons in your closet!
Christy says
Oh ha ha!! That’s right! Thank you, Laurie! XOXO
Jessica says
Love love love! Do you have a source for affordable skeletons? Looking to have a skeleton dinner party in my dining room this year! And also- did you just use black gauze for your stairway? Or a longer fabric?
Christy says
Thank you, Jessica! My favorite skeletons are the ones I find at Target. I don’t see them on their site just yet, but most of my dinner party skeletons are from there. They are about 5′, are posable, and cost around $50, I believe. They’re not that cheap, but nice quality! I buy a couple a year. I have found really inexpensive ones at Lowes, but they aren’t quite as good and have light up eyes, but the price was right at around $30. The stairway is wrapped in a few ceiling tapestries made of gauze and it has spiders dangling from it. I bought them at Target and also and have found several on the clearance at the end of the holiday. You can see what they look like on Amazon here: https://amzn.to/3ANFmcr Amazon also sells really long pieces of gauze fabric for pretty cheap here: https://amzn.to/3sb5SJi Hope this helps! Have fun decorating!! XOXO
