Hello awesome friends! Halloween is only a little over a week away so I thought it would be fun to take a tour of our Halloween dining room!
But first, I notified the winner of my CRAFT JUNK GIVEAWAY via email on Sunday and they have yet to respond! Please check your email as I will have to choose another winner if I do not hear back in within 48 hours!
Now we don’t normally do a whole lot of decorating indoors for Halloween. We usually keep the spooks outside. However, after putting up all of our outdoor decorations, I had an idea!
See the window to the left of the front door?
That’s our dining room, and you get a pretty good view of it at night when the lights are on and the shades are up so how fun would it be to decorate it too?
Maybe as a skeleton dinner party??
It’s hard to capture at night in photos, but imagine a flickering bulb in that window and the soft glow of candlelight. It’s pretty fun in person!
Come on in and I’ll give y’all a closer look.
A few DIY projects happened to bring this space to life, including this wall decor:
All were thrift store finds that I spray painted black. That’s the great thing about decorating for Halloween…just spray paint everything black! I ordered the faux candles on Amazon HERE and they’re perfect since they are on a six hour timer!
The floral centerpiece was another thrift store find and started out like this:
Spray paint creepified it perfectly. I sprayed an old vase gold and these flowers black to make a perfect centerpiece fit for a skeleton dinner party:
I left just a hint of color showing.
The table cloth is a Target curtain I found at the thrift store last year…
I found the skeletons new at Target this year.
This dress was a $2 thrift store score…a perfect fit!
I guess that means the rest of them are naked??
I raided our costume bin and found this feather boa…
and this wig…
Believe it or not, my Hubby had hair similar to that when we met!
To set the table, I used my holiday chargers and napkins, black plates from the dollar store, and these festive Halloween plates I bought last year.
I spied these candelabras in a Micheals flyer that came in the mail and knew they would be perfect in here!
They were actually part of their Halloween decor.
I kept my hutch simple just adding some spooky black fabric across the top…
And I tucked a few indoor Halloween pieces I already had here and there.
I have a collection of these spooky photos I used for my mantel HERE several years ago.
I used most of them outside, but tucked one in here.
You may remember this wreath I made from a cabinet door several years ago also:
You can see more of it HERE.
I added a small table in the corner to hold my lamp with the spooky bulb in it, this thrift store candelabra, and this fun skeleton hand that plays the piano…
That’s one good thing about having a furniture hoard…it works great at Halloween!
My staircase is also part of this space, so I had to give it some of the spooky treatment too…
Between the dining area and the staircase is a doorway to our kitchen. I hung a black blackout curtain that I used to have hanging in our old house up there so it blocks out any light from the kitchen.
If you’re new around here, this is what my dining room looked like in the Spring:
See…so I’m really usually quite normal. 🙂
It sure was fun to do this to it though:
And that’s our Halloween dining room!
I hope you got a kick out of it! It’s much cooler at night of course!
Next week I’ll share the outdoors.
Be sure to stop by on Thursday though…I’ll be sharing what I did with with this $60 painted dresser I scored at the Habitat Restore:
It looks pretty good here, but it needed some help!
UPDATE!! See how it looks now HERE! 🙂
See ya then!
XO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!

OMG I’m a Halloween FREAK and I love, love, love it! Now I wish we had a window facing the road, dangit!! (Normally I like that we don’t bec people can’t see in) Plus we get no trick or treaters cuz we’re rural. ;( Side note: I can’t wait to see the dresser bec I have one almost exactly like it waiting for fresh paint in our garage!! I seriously mean, there’s very little difference between the two.
Christy says
Oh yay!! I just LOVE Halloween too!! We never use our dining room anyway so this was a lot of fun to set up! See ya Thursday! XOXO

webbing from his plate to him sitting so long waiting for his dinner
what a wonderful project but then all you work is amazing
Christy says
Thank you, Marilynn!! I debated whether or not to add cobwebs, but somehow I imagined the skeletons we’re living it up and still enjoying life LOL. Maybe I’ll have to add some cobwebs next year though! XOXO

Why I would say , “this is Spooktacular!!!!”…..
This is too much energy for me to put out for Halloween….not a fav holiday in my book.
A couple of pumpkins on the porch and a wreath on the door and call it a day.
I’m grumpy I know!!!
Addie
Christy says
Ha ha hey that’s okay! Halloween isn’t for everyone, and who knows if we will continue when the kids are grown, but for now, it’s pretty fun! XOXO

I just love it. We live way out in the country so we don’t get any trick or treaters. I can’t imagine how many people come back around your block to see if they really saw what they think they saw!! How about some bow ties to put around a couple of the guys necks?? This was very, very creative.
Christy says
Thank you, Sue! I love the idea of adding a few bow ties!! XOXO
blurooferika says

Bonnie Hipps says
Oh the powers of the mind and where they will lead us lol. Guess that is why I love the movie the Corpse Bride with Johnny Depp. Great imagination. my daughters and I have a tradition in the month of Oct we watch a scary or mind thriller every night till Halloween and finish that night with of course Halloween. We do the same thing with the month of December. Hugs……
Christy says
Oh I love that tradition…how fun! I could have gotten really creepy, but I resisted lol. XOXO
Sophie HOUTHOOFD says

Wow how clever and fun! Love the dining room guests in their finest clothes, the skeleton hand playing a tune, and every touch you thought of! That brings Halloween back to innocent fun, which I love. Good going, Christy!
Christy says
Thank you, Suzanne! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! XO
Janet McCarraher says
I am not a Halloween fan but you did a fabulous job! You just proved what I said to a friend of mine who is putting their house on the market. The decorator wanted certain items & I said to go to the thrift store & paint items to the needed colors. She spent $200 where she could have spent less than $20!
Christy says
Thank you, Janet! Oh for sure… You could furnish your whole house for a fraction of the cost of buying everything new! XO
