Hello awesome friends!! I have a redo of a redo for y’all today!
But first, congratulations to Malia S. She won my latest craft junk box giveaway. She has already been notified and her package is on the way! Thank you to everyone who entered. I’ll have another fun box of goodies to giveaway starting the week of July 15th!
Okay so back to today’s makeover…I picked up this little cutie at Lucketts here in Virginia several years ago for $15 if I remember correctly:
At the time, my youngest was still a toddler and I liked that it had a back on it so he could use it to sit at our larger kitchen island. Later it worked perfectly as a extra seating and looked cute sitting at the end of our mini rolling island:
The grain sack stripe was cute in that space, but the base was a creamy white (Cottage White by Behr) to match our cabinets, and it was looking pretty dingy against our bright white trim in our new house.
It was time for a refresh:
Of course I had to go with my new favorite blue, Sunken Pool by Behr. (DIY chalk paint recipe HERE.)
This is in our downstairs guest bath…
I actually used the same color on the walls in there although it looks a shade deeper in these photos. You can see that full makeover HERE if you missed it. (Or go see it again…it was a good one! 🙂 )
I let several areas of the creamy color show through to give it a more time-worn look, but I may go back and add a touch of bright white to those areas instead.
And can you see the stencil on the seat? I added the same wreath stencil (found HERE) that I added to my $60 thrift store hutch I shared not too long ago.
It just adds a touch of whimsy. I used spray adhesive on the back of the stencil to hold it in place, then I used a small brush to fill it in…
This won’t be staying in this bathroom. It will head back to the kitchen to live. There isn’t really a need for extra seating in here two feet from the commode. Unless you want a friend with you in there, but I’m guessing no.
Here are a few peeks of our guest bath. (Actually Jack has claimed this one.)
Even after I just redid the boys’ bathroom, he prefers this one. See that HERE if you missed it. (Or go see it again, it was a good one too! 🙂 )
This bathroom is nice and bright and he can make all the noise he wants when he’s getting ready for school at 5:30 in the morning without disturbing anyone. This Mama appreciates the extra sleep!
Remember this cute shelf I made out of my neighbor’s trash?
I loved this one so much that I hung onto it when I knew we were looking to buy a new house, hoping I’d find a place for it. You can see this makeover HERE. In case you can’t tell, the bottom portion is the back off of an old porch rocker.
In other more exciting news… we are going on vacation!! We closed on our old house the week before Spring Break and my hubby was desperately trying to squeeze together a little vacation to celebrate while the boys were out of school. However it didn’t happen.
Then on Friday night, my husband came to the dinner table with his iPad and we knew he was up to something. He had planned a Disney cruise to the Bahamas! Actually he hadn’t hit GO yet, but had it all planned out. I couldn’t say GO fast enough! We are super excited! Any hot tips for us?? We’ve cruised before, but not with Disney.
I’ll still be back here on Thursday (even though my body will be poolside) with one of my favorite outdoor projects that will also make a perfect Mother’s Day gift, this sweet teapot garden feature:
See ya then!!
UPDATE: Check out how to make this fun garden decor HERE now!

Congratulations to Malia S., you lucky duck! 🙂
Wow, go you with the cruise with Disney! Sweet!! When do you head out?
Have a great week
Christy says
Thanks, Christina! We fly out tomorrow…and I have yet to start packing! Better get busy lol! XOXO

I LOVE how that turned out the 1ST time, and LOVE it even more the 2ND time!! I am sad that I didn’t win the junk giveaway box, but am happy that I still have your great inspirational post to read twice a week. Have a great time on your vacation, it sounds wonderful. I wish I was going on a Disney cruise right now as mother nature seems to be confused here in Michigan, as it is still snowing!! Arrggg!!
Christy says
Aww thanks so much, Mary! I will have another giveaway box to give away in July, so more chances to win! And we are so ready for warm weather here too, although we haven’t had snow. I really feel for ya’ll that have! Hoping everyone sees a warm up soon! XOXO
Linda says
We had a chair similar to that when I was growing up! I love the color and design that you added to it. I’m a big Disney fan so I was excited to hear that your hubby planned a Disney cruise for you all. I’m not sure if Castaway Cay is on the itinerary, but if it is, I hear that it’s absolutely beautiful! Enjoy. 🙂
Christy says
Thanks, Linda! I loved the vintage style of this chair immediately when I saw it. And yes, we are going to Castaway Cay yay! Glad to hear it’s a winner! XOXO
sharon austin says
Have fun on your vacay, I’m jealous. When you’re done, can you please come decorate my house?!
Christy says
Ha ha thank you, Sharon! I might need a vacation from my vacation when I get back lol! XO
Kimberly says
Christy, I love this chair and how perfectly it fit in to your respective homes at each juncture. I also love all the walk-out doors on your new home. I am thinking how it would be nice getting ready on a mild morning and opening up the outside door for a little birdsong. I am sure it is nice to be able to go straight from the pool to the shower, too.
Hope you all have lots of fun on your getaway!
Christy says
Thanks, Kimberly! It was really nice last Summer being able to come in from the pool through that door to use the bathroom as well. I’m so glad they made a door there! XOXO
Barb says
Christy,
I love the remake on your stool. It’s gorgeous, light and bright! I need it for my kitchen. I have a stool without a back, so I’m hunting for a good piece and I love yours! It’s wood and up-to-date but a lot retro! You did a super job.
Enjoy your cruise – put those feet up and eyes closed!
Christy says
Thank you, Barb! I do love the vintage feel of it as well and that is what drew me to it when I first saw it! XOXO
Tina Matteson says
I love this even more now, too! Awesome job once again.
Christy says
Thank you, Tina!! XOXO
Patricia says
Love, love the stool, I am on my fourth one and would love to have yours…Thanks for sharing.
Christy says
Thanks, Patricia! When I was moving I figured if it didn’t find a home here I could just stick it in my booth. Luckily our new kitchen has just the spot for it! 🙂 XO
Robyn Wright says
I love both makeovers! I have one that my SO uses in the garage but I still have every intention of making it over.
Christy says
Thanks, Robyn! Little stools are so functional! XO
Robyn Wright says
Forgot to mention that I am a HUGE fan of anything Disney and I am so jealous that you are going on this trip. Take full advantage of EVERYTHING they have to offer. You will be SO pampered!!
Christy says
We figured it would be top notch since it is by Disney…so looking forward to it! XOXO
Sheila DelCharco says
What a cute chair!! “Unless you want a friend with you in there, but I’m guessing no.” That made me snort!! I have a friend who has been on all the Disney ships but one! What do you want to know? I’ll ask her!
Christy says
Ha ha thank you, Shelia! I finally can do my bathroom business without my kids wanting to come in so yeah…nobody else please lol! Lucky friend! XOXO
Linda Petersen says
Ahoy Mouseketeers! Have a wonderful vacation????. The stool looks so cute, the color is so pretty. No wonder it’s your favorite blue! XOXO
Christy says
Thank you, Linda! So looking forward to getting away with my boys! And yes…I love this pretty blue!! XOXO
Denise Zdziennicki says
Sweet makeover Christy! I really love the Sunken Pool blue with the stencil detail. I’ve been on a lot of cruises – but never Disney. I’m sure you’re going to have a blast!!! 🙂
Christy says
Thank you, Denise! I’ve only been on two, but it has been several years. They were both great experiences so hopefully this will be too! XOXO
MaryJean says
You lucky dog! Sounds like a great vacation especially with the weather we’ve been having! It seems that everyone on the east coast is suffering from either just cool temps or actual snow. We have the snow and as I write this I see a light flurry of snow coming down. I have tried to put away my boots twice so far! Ugh!! Well, enjoy your vacation!
Christy says
Yes this winter just will not give up! No snow here, but 40’s today. Looking forward to warmth and sunshine! ????
Bonnie says
Love both ways but you are right looks better in the kitchen than the bathroom. I got past the years of the kids in there now its my cats lol. Happy sailing on the vacation and rest, take LOTS of photos and cherish the memories. Hugs my friend!
Christy says
Thanks so much, Bonnie! Yep long gone are the days of my kiddos knocking at the door, and I have to say I don’t miss that part so much ha ha! XOXO
Marie says
How fun is that surprise! A vacation well deserved. Oh, and the chair is darling painted soft blue! pinned 🙂
Christy says
I know! Such fun to throw this together last minute! Thanks, Marie!! ????
Marcie Lovett says
I say leave the stool the way it is. The small bit of white peeking through looks fine.
I can’t believe how quickly you can go on a cruise. I’m sure you’re having a wonderful time poolside, although it’s sunny and 60 in VA today, so the coats have come off and everyone’s ready to hit the pool here ???? (not!) Relax and enjoy the time together.
Christy says
Thanks, Marcie! I kind of don’t mind it so much now so it may just stay that way! And I know…we left before our boarding documents even arrived to our house! Luckily nowadays you can print everything online. Enjoying some nice weather for sure! XOXO
Moriah says
Love the stenciling on the seat ❤️ Have a fun trip!
Christy says
Thank you, Moriah!! XOXO
Julie Briones says
LOVE this makeover, Christy! And the wreath is such a special touch! I think it’s perfect for the bathroom… doesn’t everyone take a buddy with them into the commode? Oh my… I laughed out loud on your comment! 😉 The bathroom looks just lovely, too! Have a blast on vacation! You deserve it!
Christy says
Thanks so much, Julie! Of course, it would be rude to leave your guest waiting in the living room while you went to the bathroom, right? Ha ha Ha! Enjoying ourselves already… Thanks, girl! XOXO
Brenda Wilson says
I have been following you for awhile, and I love all your great ideas!! I am trying to find some kind of dresser/dressing table to make into a bathroom cabinet for our guest bathroom. Have you ever done that? Not sure if it’s a good idea or not, but I love the look of furniture for a bathroom vanity.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Brenda! I too love that idea, however I have not tackled that yet! I think you should go for it though! I’m sure you could find a great tutorial on YouTube! 🙂
