Hi friends! Welcome back! Today I’m sharing easy and fun Christmas ornaments made from mason jar lids!
If you’re just joining this week’s series, I am sharing the Posts of Christmas Past all this week while I deck the halls around here. If you missed yesterday’s post, you can see it HERE!
I had bought two cases of mason jars to hold tea lights several years ago for our Halloween Display on Halloween night, and I just couldn’t bring myself to throw away the lids. I saved them in a bag just in case an idea for them struck and one eventually did!
I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the projects I love.
Mason Jar Lid Snowman Ornaments
Here’s what I gathered for this project:
(I did use a few additional items to add variety to a couple of these ornaments.)
If you don’t have any lids hanging around, you can buy just the lids if you like.
I spray painted the rings white to start.
And turned them into super cute snowman ornaments!
I made the faces from scraps of a vintage chenille bedspread that I used to make this Christmas Tree Pillow for my Secret Santa that same year. (It was ripped already.)
Making them was simple. There’s really no big set of instructions needed here, but here’s a step-by-step in photos:
I used a stylus to paint in the details on the faces, and I used a Pigma Micron Pen to draw in the smiles on two of them. These pens are perfect for writing on fabric because they don’t bleed. I actually love to write with them as well.
To hang them, I added ribbon to one with hot glue, and strung clear glass beads on fine fishing line for the other two. I also attached those with hot glue.
Coordinating black ribbon tied in a bow finishes them off.
For fun, I added some buffalo snow flurries to one of the rings immediately after spray painting:
I think this shabby cutie is my favorite though!
I kept him!
I think the chenille fabric gives them a nostalgic feel, but you could use any type of fabric.
I Hope your Holiday season is off to a great start!
I’ll meet y’all back tomorrow sharing what I did with this mirror:
See ya then!
UPDATE: This mirror is complete and looks SO much cuter now! Check it out HERE!
XOXO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!

Those turned out so cute! Happy little snowman faces. Those items for sure any one can get their hands on to DIY! I am so happy to be having coffee with you every day this week! Kind of reminds me of when you posted a project every day for the month of March! It is going to be a good week!

Thanks, Mary! I knew I’d find a project for those lids eventually ha ha! And yes, anyone can make these for sure! I miss the March Madness days!! XOXO

Super cute ornaments! You are way ahead of me in the decorating process. I need to put my fall things away first!

Thank you, Maryellen! If it makes you feel any better, I only have the porch and my living room done lol! XOXO

DARLING, Christy!! I love snowmen and have collected them to decorate with for Christmas/Winter (can’t any longer as now don’t have room in this small apt. My favorite is Jim Shore collectables.. 😉) . I will Pin this!!!

Super cute!! I adore the shabby one also! 🙂
I don’t have room for a tree here but think I’ll decorate a small, wooden ladder (think 3 feet tall at the most) as a Christmas tree this year.
Can’t wait to see what you do with that mirror!
By the way, I love re-watching the videos of you and Nancy thrift shopping.
Create on!!!
Christy says
Thanks, Christina! My Mom bought a pencil tree at Michaels last year, and it is only about a foot wide…perfect for a small space. I have seen some cool ideas for decorating ladders too though. Nancy and I keep saying we need to make another video, but I guess it will be with masks and subtitles lol! XOXO

I just adore these snowmen jar ring ornaments! You are so right in saying the chenille fabric adds to their charm – like miniature snowflakes making up his sweet face! You chose such great ribbon to adorn them – love those sparkles. I adore SNOWMEN!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Barbara! I’m so glad you enjoyed these. I just love snowmen too! XOXO
Karen Thompson says
cute! You are so creative and do a great job on everything you touch! Bottom line – how do you get those bows so perfect?! LOL Funny enough, I cannot tie a straight bow on anything for the life of me 🙁 I had to BUY hair bows when my daughter was little
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Karen! You are so sweet! For the bows, instead of doing one loop and wrapping the other end around, try doing a loop on either side and tie them just like the initial tie, but in the opposite direction as that first tie. So if you do the first tie left over right, when you tie the two loops, do them right over left…perfectly straight every time! XOXO

What a clever idea! I particularly like the chenille backing for the face. The added “snow” gives it an authentic look! It is great to see your posts everyday this week! Thanks for sharing.
Christy says
Thank you, Sue! Have a great night! XOXO
Rita says
These are beyond cute. I knew I should have bought the bunch of Mason jar rings I saw at a local thrift 2 weeks ago..dang it! I pinned these so I have them for next year but I will make them way ahead of time. Again I love them.
Christy says
Thank you, Rita! Oh no…isn’t that always how it goes? It would be awesome of nobody else could see a use for them either and they are still there! XOXO
