Sweet friends!! How lucky are we that we get to hang out THREE times this week?? I seriously wish I could post every day!
If you missed me yesterday, I was touring with my friends in the Fall Seasonal Simplicity Series sharing a project I created using this basket from my current haul! And today I am back with two more pieces from this same group!
I told y’all I wanted to move through these quickly because my booth is in sad shape after a busy Summer and needs replenishing! I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love.
I’ll start with this mirror:
This mirror was a steal at $4.25 at the thrift store! I’m not a fan of that funky gold finish, but I loved the shape of it. It got a soothing new look with Dixie Belle’s Driftwood mixed with about 1/3 Cotton.
I love this color lightened a bit and added the Cotton right to the jar once there was room. 🙂
I absolutely love this neutral, especially paired with white!
Right?
Do you know what I really love about this photo? The only thing I bought new was the greenery. Everything else was thrifted, or hand made!
The serpentine dresser used to belong to my old neighbor. It has a mirror that goes with it, but when I walked into my booth one day, the mirror harp had broken and the mirror was laying on the top of the dresser. I brought it home to fix it and it never left. It lives in our dining room and serves as a great piece for staging my photos.
The thrifted candlesticks used to be gold and were redone along with another gold mirror in this post:
I did take those to my booth but ended up bringing them home because I just love them so much!
The pitcher used to be green and was spray painted in this Dining Room post…
The dresser scarf is part of a chenille blanket that I found at a yard sale for $5. Vintage chenille blankets are another thing I covet. I found several at the same yard sale and bought every last one of them. I always look for them when I’m thrifting, but I have yet to find any more.
I mentioned the fabric pumpkins yesterday, but I made those last year…
They were really simple to make!
For this mirror, I removed the mirror first so I could paint it easily and get the back where the mirror reflects. It just makes it so much easier.
Instead of sanding and revealing the gold underneath, I dry brushed with Cotton and a very dry brush:
I sealed with Dixie Belle’s Clear Coat in Satin.
I did add the original hanging hardware to the back, but I just have it leaning against the wall here…
Now for the table.
There isn’t anything fancy or complcated about this makeover…just a couple of coats of paint is all it needed. I found this one for $10 at an estate sale:
It looks vintage, but I believe it’s just a replica. The top was in really sad shape:
I decided that all this needed was a simple paint job:
I used Dixie Belle’s Fluff for this one. It isn’t quite as bright as Cotton and has a bit more of a vintage feel to it. Plus, it gives amazing coverage in only two coats!
I love how these darker pieces show through when sanding. I used 220 Grit sandpaper on this one.
I also sealed this one with Dixie Belle’s Clear Coat in satin using their sponge applicator. See how I apply the sealer in this post.
This clock lives in my office. I found it at HomeGoods when we first bought our house. It’s one of my favorite pieces!
The frame was thrifted and painted also and there’s my high school senior…boy I miss him at that age!
The faux lavender bunches came from Hobby Lobby. It’s 50% off every other week and is on sale right now. This is three bundles worth:
This table sat so long because I didn’t want to share a plain makeover, but sometimes that is all a piece needs so the accessories can be the stars of the show!
That’s two more down!

They are both so beautiful now. I think all your makeovers are beautiful, not matter how simple. I think that it is so fun to see what color or what you will do to some of the pieces in your stash, I love all of them!!
Christy says
I appreciate that so much, Mary! Thank you!! 🙂 XOXO
Sheila DelCharco says
Wow you are really cranking through your stash! Isn’t it time for another booth tour? I bet it’s filling up now! Even the simple oll’ paint jobs like the table is fun to see transformed.
Christy says
I am really trying to hustle this one since my booth is actually pretty empty…I was blessed to sell a lot this Summer! I’ll definitely share when I get it filled back up though! Thanks, Sheila! XOXO
Christina in SW FL says
Wow, Christy, both beautiful! Love the mirror and the table is so pretty. (Love the clock!) Your insight sees how a simple makeover can make such dramatic and beautiful pieces. Thank you!!!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Christina! Even the simple ones are fun to stage lol. Stay safe down there with that hurricane! XOXO
Becky says
I love them both! I have some dark stuff I just painted white, and I haven’t gotten to the sanding yet. You’re right, it really makes a difference! So much so that MY HUSBAND (who doesn’t “get” any of this, haha!) says he really likes it! Yay!
Wait… your son is a senior now?!? I thought only my kids had this problem of growing up. Yikes. 😊
You all have a splendid long weekend too!
Christy says
Thanks, Becky! Doesn’t it make such a difference?? Funny that your husband noticed…now you have permission to paint all the things ha ha! And yes…we’ve been searching colleges waaaah! XOXO

You are so very talented. Great job on the mirror and table. Am anxious to see the box Tues because I just redid two old hat boxes (and they were old). One was my mother’s and the other one of my sister’s (both have passed on). Just hope you don’t put me to shame and make me want to do something different with mine. I have given both the ones I did to my niece (she has no children) because I was afraid my rowdy almost 4 yr old granddaughter would sit on them and break them (ha).
Christy says
Aww thank you, Janice! I bet your boxes turned out beautiful! This one is newer…like a replica of an older one and has held toys for several years now. Probably a good idea that you gave yours to your niece! XOXO
Nichole Raynor says
Beautiful post today! I have a gold mirror at our beach house that I have considered painting. I love the driftwood look! Also, what a great idea to cut the chenille blanket! I have one that has a stain and some pilling but couldn’t bring my self to throw it away. Can’t wait to repurpose it! Where did you get the greenery on the dresser? It looks completely real!
Christy says
Thank you, Nichole! My blanket had a few moth holes in it when I found it at a yard sale, so I didn’t feel bad about cutting it either! The greenery came from Michaels. If they don’t have any now they will probably bring it out again with their spring florals next year. I bought mine last year and they had it again this year. XOXO
Mari says
I love the mirror but wonder why you have switched to Dixie Bell paint rather than your homemade recipe (which I love). Also love the candle sticks. Was that with Dixie Bell as well?
Christy says
Thanks, Mari! I’m so glad you love the DIY chalk paint recipe! I have used Dixie Belle paint in the past when they’ve sent me some and I really loved it, however I needed to use a more cost effective option since I sell my pieces, and the bottom line is really important. Then several months ago I tried Dixie Belle’s clear coat and I loved it! It’s the only sealer that I’ve used on white that has not yellowed. I’ve always used wax, but wax is labor-intensive. The clear coat gives a very similar finish and it’s so easy to apply. Then I used the boss for stopping bleed-through and loved that as well. I decided to look into becoming a retailer for them. I started selling their products in my booth in April and opened an Etsy shop in May. Because I get a break on the cost being a retailer, I’ve just stuck with using their paint since I really do love that as well. It has been nice not having to mix my own paint. The DIY version is still fantastic as well and I’m so glad you like it! XOXO
Cheryl Atkinson says
Christy, i love absolutely everything you do. My booth is going to have alot of color in it but i’m definitely adding some white. Is everything in your booth made over?
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Cheryl!! About 99% of what I have in my booth is made over. Yours is going to be great, I’m sure! XOXO
Gwen says
you simply amaze me with everything you get accomplished! I love both of these pieces!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Gwen! I’m hustling this week for sure ha ha! XOXO
Cecilia from Georgia says
Your mirror is lovely. I have one very similar and it weighs a ton. I haven’t been anxious to do anything with it but what you did with yours is so easy. Thanks for the inspiration! XOXO
Christy says
Thanks, Cecilia! I’m so glad you’re feeling inspired! XOXO
Lizzy says
It’s so pretty! I love the candlesticks, too. I have been looking everywhere for a ornate full-length floor mirror that I can redo. They have new ones online, but that’s no fun!
Christy says
Thanks, Lizzy! I completely agree…I hope you find something amazing!! XOXO
Bonnie Ciavarella says
Hi, I’ve made over several mirrors I’ve found at thrift stores, but it seems every one I’ve found is glued into its frame. I’ve broken at least two of them trying to get them out. Have you ever run into this issue, and if so, how do you get the glue removed without breaking the mirror?
Christy says
Hi Bonnie! Believe it or not, as many as I have made over, I don’t believe I’ve come across one that was glued in place? I wish I could offer more help! XO
Mary Loveland says
Both pieces are gorgeous, won’t have trouble selling either of them! I don’t know how you part with so many gorgeous pieces, maybe you and hubby should buy a nice “cabin” so you could furnish that also!
Christy says
Thank you, Mary!! It’s tough to part with things sometimes, and you know I’ve even gone back to get things I’ve taken to my booth ha ha! I’d love to have another place to furnish!! XOXO
MOConnell says
Absolutely love your makeovers. You are a talented lady. But your website is horrible! So many ads; it takes me so long to get to your stuff!
Christy says
Thank you, and I’m sorry you’re having s hard time. I try hard to only approve ads that you can ignore if you want…nothing you have to close out or bypass. And ads on blogs are like commercials on TV…they pay the bills. XO
Petra says
Love the mirror and table. One of my fave pieces of furniture to “redo” is the circular table – coffee or dining – always love how they come out with paint 🙂
Christy says
Thank you, Petra! Yes me too…especially a pedestal style! XOXO
Marie says
Totally agree that the table is perfect just painted white with a bit of distressing – so pretty! the mirror looks 100 times better too. As always, lovely makeovers, Christy! xo
Christy says
Thank you, Marie! It’s funny how we hesitate to share the simplest of makeovers sometimes because we don’t feel like they’re creative enough to share, yet once they’re dressed up with a few pretty accessories, they become so much more! I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far! XOXO
Rose Lefebvre says
You make such lovely pieces. I am impressed.
Christy says
Aww thank you, Rose! XOXO
