Hello beautiful Friends! On Tuesday I counted down my 10 most viewed posts that were published in 2017, most of which were furniture pieces. But some of my favorite projects aren’t furniture so today I am counting down my top 10 favorite non-furniture pieces!
Just look at all this potential:
I was so tickled to be able to turn these old, trashed, broken, or just forgotten pieces into beautiful new treasures to be enjoyed for years to come!
#10
Coming in at number 10 is this mirror frame I found on the curb that I turned into a functional memo board:
Message Board from a Roadside Find
Seeing that frame on the curb made my heart go pitter patter…you just can’t beat free!
#9
This little cutie was made from a drawer that I saved from a terrible Craig’s List purchase. It too had been hanging around way too long. When I realized I could cut it down, I knew just what to do with it:
#7
This next piece was an old Home Interiors shelf I picked up for super cheap at the thrift store:
Adding a piece of hardboard to the back and filling the space with these large numbers really updated this tired shelf!
#7
I love this next one just because of how primitive it started out compared to the soft, pretty after:
(I kept this one! 🙂 )
#6
Coming in at number five on the list is this folding screen I picked up at the thrift store:
That was the first time I had come across a folding screen at the thrift store and I haven’t seen one since!
#5
I have to include my free-to-me skis!
I just loved this simple project and many of you did too. Thank you to everyone who shared photos of your own ski makeovers! 🙂
#4
These picnic baskets are one of my favorites because now they are pretty, and I can hide things in them!
I have picked up several more since then. Hoping these frigid temps don’t hang around too long so I can get outside and spray them!
#3
This next one was a curbside freebie also:
I really wish I would have kept this one!
#2
My top 10 wouldn’t be complete if it didn’t include something I pulled out of someone’s trashcan:
I did keep this one, and have it hanging in our downstairs guest bath. 🙂
#1
And my favorite non-furniture makeover of this year is….
my window turned shadow box bulletin board!
I love how this project turned out!
And it would have fit perfectly in my new office. I am on the hunt for another window so I can recreate this fun project!
I’m including one more fun project as an honorable mention, and this one might be my favorite project of all time.
It was originally shared in late 2016, however I did reshare it this Fall so it counts, right?
I’m giving it a little more love anyway:
Making Doll Clothes from Children’s Thrift Store Clothes
I only have boys, so I enjoyed this project WAY more than I should have!
And those are my favorite non-furniture projects this year!
Did you have a favorite that made the list?
Thank you so much for following along with me on this amazing journey! I couldn’t do this without you!
And to those being rocked by this crazy blizzard like we are, stay safe and stay warm!
I’ll see you with my Trash-to-Treasure girls on Tuesday sharing what I did with this awesome thrift store score:
UPDATE: See how this got a brand new look HERE now! 🙂
XOXO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!
If you like what you see, there are several ways to follow along!

Christy, I have many favorites but if I have to choose one it would be your rescued chair back. 🙂 Such a clever re-purposing project and I adore the white over black.
There are so many wonderful pieces. Thank you for the great trip down memory lane again. 🙂 Have a magnificent weekend!
Christy says
Ahh yes…I love that one too!! I am SO happy I decided to keep it!! Thank you! XOXO

Every time you mention that you wish you would have kept one of the items, I can remember thinking at the time “I hope she keeps this one for herself”. You and I really do have the same taste in decor and I love following your blog so much. Happy New Christy to you and your beautiful family.
Christy says
Ha ha I wish I had room to keep more of them! I will be glad when my new house is full so I am no longer tempted! Thank you so much, Carole! XOXO
Debbie in TX says
The folding screen and the repurposed chair are my faves and made me go “Wow!”
Christy says
Those are some of my faves too, obviously since I included them ha ha! I remember thinking when I dropped the screen off at my booth, that I didn’t care if it took a long time to sell because it looked so pretty in there! It lasted for about three weeks. SO glad I kept the chair shelf! XOXO

I loved several of these projects but have another item to discuss. There are ads from CJ Banks with this email and they show items on sale at a great discount then they are currently offering. They said they must be old ads. Do you know anything about that?
Christy says
Thanks, Doris! I am not sure what is up with the ads. The companies are the ones who supply them to my ad network ad we just display them. Wish I had a better answer for you!
Julie Briones says
Sorry… I can’t pick a fave. They are all so beautiful. However, I’m with you… your doll clothes… I still tell people about them! AND, they just may be in my future, as my little grandson just FaceTimed me, with his arms raised up in victory, and said, “We have a gull!” He’ll have a baby sister in June! SO excited… first granddaughter! (Had to share with someone! 😉 )
Christy says
Aww thanks, Julie! Congratulations…how very exciting!! I love my boys, but I do hope one of them gives me a granddaughter or two! XOXO

I still love your re-do of the folding screens. I have a couple of them that could certainly use a make-over! Yours are a great inspiration!
Christy says
Thank you, Ruth Anne! I was a bit sad to see them sell from my booth! XOXO
