Hello gorgeous friends! Today, I’m back with a brand new haul of goodies to work on! Well, not exactly brand new…
This time, I am doing something a bit different. Instead of working on items I’ve found recently, I decided to do a small haul of items that have already been previously made over for my shop, but that have just not sold. How does that sound??
I think anyone who has a booth can relate!
I’m calling it my Operation Redo Haul!
I generally do not bring things home and redo them. I feel like there is a buyer for every piece, and the right buyer just has to come along and claim it. I sincerely believe this, but…these items have been sitting longer than they should!
I could just mark them down and see if I get any takers, but I thought it would be fun to reimagine them and share them with you instead!
Redo #1
First up is this hexagon pedestal table that my Mom passed along to me a few years ago:
She painted it way back around 2013 for a craft market we did together. It was one of just a couple of her pieces that didn’t sell. I put it in my booth for a while, but it didn’t sell, so I brought it home to redo and then it lived our garage for a couple of years collecting dust!
Last April, I finally decided to sand it down and give it a redo:
The top got a simple magnolia design with the Magnolia Transfer:
And I gave the edges striping in one of the Moonshine Metallic colors, Wedding Belle, which I thought complimeted the transfer beautifully:
However, it is still there! I feel like it’s neutral enough, but maybe the metallic I used is throwing people off since it is a yellow metallic?
Either way, this is a really cute table, and it wouldn’t take much to give it another look. Although I personally love this one, maybe the third time will be the charm!

Redo #2
The second piece that will be getting a redo is this headboard that I picked up for only $3 many years ago at the thrift store:
I originally bought three of them. The first two I redid HERE and HERE sold pretty quickly, but this one has been sitting for over a year with no takers.
Here is how I redid this one:
The shape is perfect for a sign, so I went that direction with this one also.
But, it has just been taking up space in my booth. We live in a costal town, so I figured the saying would catch someone’s heart, but maybe people are taking it too literally and think they have to live right next to the ocean? Who knows!
I don’t have a new vision for this one just yet, but I may just make a cute sign about painting that will live in my booth as a display piece.
See the original makeover HERE.
Redo #3
Next up is a small sign that I shared along with three other cabinet doors that I repurposed about a year ago.
They started out like this:
My dad had them left over from when he used to build cabinets like this one.
The other three have sold but this one is still hanging on:
I painted this in one of my favorite colors, Mint Julep.
I gave it a coastal feel with the starfish, but I’m not sure most people who enjoy a coastal style also like green, so this will get a quick redo!
See this and what I did with the other three doors HERE.
Redo #4
The fourth piece I brought home to redo started out as this $20 thrift store find:
I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of bamboo, but I just liked this little piece for some reason.
I gave it life with this beautiful green color, Kudzu:
I also added this sweet bee transfer to the front (the bee is in top):
My customers don’t traditionally love green, so that’s why I don’t use it often, although I really do love it!
This piece just sticks out like a sore thumb in my booth, and if you’ve ever checked out my 10 Tips to a Successful booth, I broke the first two rules about keeping your color palette simple and the style cohesive!
See the original post on this makeover HERE.
Redo #5
This next piece is another one that I really love.
It was originally a Facebook find that I bought from a local group for $15:
But then it sat for what seemed like forever.
Finally, I stuck it in one of my hauls and got it done!
I love that combination! I’m really reconsidering redoing it, but we’ll see.
I used the Lace Transfer on the top:
I think people may have a harder time deciding what to do with this one since it is a table but more bench height than table height? In that case, redoing it may not help, so we’ll see!

Redo #6
And the final piece I brought home to redo will be getting its third makeover!
This piece used to live in my Mom’s home, but she traded me this for a smaller one that I had redone because it fit in her space better.
It pretty much looked like this when I got it:
I stuck it in my booth as is and it sat for forever.
Then, I had a suggestion to redo it to match a dresser I had redone, and I loved that idea!
So, I did:
I love drum tables! They are so classic and versatile!
You can use them as end tables, night tables, entry tables, or you can even pair with a chair or two to create a small bistro set!
I added the same transfer I used on the dresser to just the drawer to tie it together:
And here it is paired with the dresser in my booth:
Cute as a set, right? The dresser sold, but they did not take the drum table, unfortunately.
I really love this simple makeover, but the coral colors don’t match everyone’s decor. I gave it a year with no takers, so it will now get a new look.
You can visit this makeover HERE.
And here is this motley crew grouped t0gether:
Hopefully, I can come up with new ideas for these pieces that will get them SOLD!
The first piece will be the Hexagon cutie that once looked like this:
I’ll be back with that one on Thursday!
Update! No need to wait, it’s done and you can see it Here now!
XOXO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!
If you like what you see, there are several ways to follow along!

Wow, I can’t believe those pieces didn’t sell in your booth! I think everything you make over is beautiful, and it is probably a good thing that I do not live near your booth, or I probably would have all the furniture and items you transform in my house. LOL! It will be fun to see what you do to them the 2nd time! I have some pieces in my house that I painted a long time ago that need some refresh, so I will know what to do after I watch the master make over queen do and provide me with the inspiration that I need to re-do mine!
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, my friend! I’m surprised some of these didn’t sell also! But that’s okay, we’ll give them a refresh and see what happens! XOXO
Michele M. says
Mary says it perfectly!!!!
Christy says
Mwah!! XOXO
Barb says
I love you site! I’ve learned so much by reading how you go thru each detail of redoing each piece. Thank you!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Barb!! I’m so glad you enjoy what I share!! XOXO
Christina says
Fun re-do haul! 🙂 I look forward to seeing how you reinvent these pieces because you know I love them as is. 🙂
Have a great week!
Christy says
Thank you, Christina! I thought this would be something a little different! Enjoy your week too! XOXO
patty says
ALWAYS love seeing your beautiful work!! Thank you Christy for sharing!
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Patty!! XOXO
Cecilia says
Hm, other than color, I don’t see why these didn’t sell. It will be interesting to see what you come up with. Love drum tables too – I’m looking forward to that makeover! Have a great week!
Smiles,
Cecilia
Christy says
Yeah, I guess some of the details were a bit specific. That’s okay though…they’ll get a redo and hopefully find their forever homes! Thanks, Cecilia! Enjoy you week too! XOXO

Hi Christy! It’s been a while since I have commented but life has been busy working and trying to keep my booth stocked. I have let pieces sit in there until they do sell but a year is a.lo g time. I don’t know why the last 2 tables wouldn’t sell hmm. I do know that when I put a transfer on the top of a table, it sits longer. I have a neutral piece in my booth that I will probably redo. I don’t do alot of nuetral pieces. That’s just not my brand I guess. I have been at this 3 years and I still don’t know what my “brand” is. Can’t wait to see the makeovers.
Christy says
Hi Cheryl!! Yes, a year is a long time! I think some of the details may have been too specific…you just never know what will catch someone’s eye! It sounds like business has been good for you…I feel like my “brand” is what I personally love. It doesn’t seem like work when you love what you’re creating. For me that would be whites, blues, soft grays, etc which traditionally do well for me. That’s probably the direction these pieces are headed! Have a great week! XOXO
Karen Moore says
I love all of these makeovers. It is always surprising what people are drawn to. Green is supposed to be really hot this year so that piece might have sold, but at some point you have to move on. Best of luck on the redo’s.
Christy says
Thank you, Karen! Yes, you just never know! I do love green, but it doesn’t usually do well in my market, unless I use the Farmhouse Green which is much lighter, almost a lime. I guess that can read as more coastal, which is what works in my area! XOXO
Nancy F Lambert says
My mom had a drum table, I love it
Awesome job.
Nancy
Christy says
Thank you, Nancy! I really love them too! XOXO

At first I thought this haul is too small, Christy, you’ll finish it in no time and have to go shopping again! 😁
Yeah, sometimes you have to rethink your merchandise. I think the greens are a harder sell than your standard whites/blues, no matter how cute they are. I love wicker and it’s very coastal. Definitely try it in another color, I bet it will sell quickly. I’m surprised the drum table didn’t sell, but I guess the transfer would have to coordinate with any patterns already in a room. Here’s a bunch of unsolicited advice: 😉
I think the signs need hooks when you redo them! I love when you make shelves or other pieces with hooks on them – decorative AND useful. If the little table/bench is an odd height, how about chopping off the bottom few inches to really make it a bench? Maybe just paint over the stripes on the magnolia table? That transfer is really beautiful and the table is very neutral otherwise. I wonder if leaving the toe caps on the tables unpainted would appeal to more people?
As always, I’m looking forward to seeing whatever you end up doing 🧡
Christy says
Ha ha yes! I do have a few things already for my next haul, but this will give me more time to collect…it’s slim pickins out there in the dead of winter! Thanks for the ideas! Two of the four cabinet doors I redid with that green sign got knobs and they were the first two to sell, so this one will definitely get them too! XOXO
roe squire says
Amazing!! I especially love the green table.
Christy says
Thank you, Roe! XOXO
Susan says
Although they are all lovely, you have to ask yourself what if anything do the unsold pieces have in common that kept them sitting in the booth. Maybe your area is not a “green” community. Maybe people are over being “blessed” especially since the past year hasn’t been exactly normal. I know you will come up with a plan for each that will be fabulous!
Christy says
Yes, exactly! Thanks, Susan! XOXO
Addie says
I like the green too!!! Maybe it is just a bit too “minty” instead of “forrest” green for your customers. ???? But!!! the minty does look more coastal…go figure???
Well, this will be a good test to see if they sell. Have fun!!!!
Christy says
I just can’t figure people out sometimes lol! When I stick to colors and looks that I love, they sell…when I branch out, sometimes they don’t. It will be fun to reimagine them, and yes, a good test for sure! Thanks, Addie! XOXO
Michele / Finch Rest says
Christy, you are such an inspiration! I can’t believe those pieces didn’t sell as-is – but I love you also treat your business so well. Sometimes a re-do of a re-do is necessary. It is an ever-changing market and boy oh boy am I excited to see what you do with these pieces!!!!
I actually blog posted yesterday – a Valentine’s tea luncheon. It had been a long time. Stop by if you’re up to it. Hugs!
Christy says
Aww I appreciate that so much, Michele! Thank you! I am looking forward to recreating these pieces too! And I loved seeing your beautiful Valentine’s table scape and that cutie pie granddaughter!! XOXO
Gayle says
I love the drum table and the mint green table! Where is your booth located?
Christy says
Thank you, Gayle! I am in the Virginia Beach Antique Mall here in Virginia Beach! XOXO
Gayle says
I’m in Urbanna! I feel a road trip with my best friend coming! I had no idea that you were that close.
Christy says
Oh yes! Small world!! 😀
Ilene says
I have given myself a rule for buying furniture to redo and it has helped me a bunch..Just look at what all your pieces have in common..they do not really have storage..people have stuff so they can more easily justify a purchase because it seems to serve a purpose..I now do not buy furniture unless there is storage in it. I still break the rules but often regret it when I have a pretty table that hangs out too long..now when I am about to purchase something I ask “Is there storage? At least one decent drawer or something..
Christy says
I never thought of that, Ilene! It makes total sense! I appreciate the insight! XOXO
Heather Taylor says
Can’t wait to see all these redone!
You are the makeover master 🙂
Christy says
Aww you are the sweetest, Heather! Thank you! XOXO
Rose Lefebvre says
I LOVE EVERYTHING YOU DO! If I lived near you I’d be so poor! The pieces are all so lovely!
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Rose!! I appreciate that! XOXO
Megan says
The coffee table? I’d just cut off the legs and call it done. That thing is Beautiful. If only I was closer, lol
Christy says
Thank you, Megan! I realized upon further inspection that the center support on the bottom needs to be glued back in place…it has come apart. Not sure if that is what has kept it from selling, but maybe! XOXO
