Welcome, spooky friends, to my Outdoor Halloween Decor Tour! I’m joining my friend Krista of The Happy Housie and several more friends on her Seasonal Simplicity Fall Serious. Be sure to look out for even more Halloween tours at the bottom!
If you’ve followed me for long, it’s no secret that I absolutely LOVE Halloween!!
I’ve collected things over many years. I like to think of our home at Halloween as the classiest Skeleton B&B you ever did see! There is no gore, just one big skeleton party at the James Dead and Breakfast Inn!
Let’s start from the road and work our way to the house.
It really comes alive at night with lights, including flickering lights on the porch, but today I’m sharing the daytime version. On Halloween night, we add even more, including more lights, decor, fog and spooky music! I’ll be back closer to Halloween with everything all lit up at night. I might even video it so you can see the full effect!
Outdoor Halloween Decor Tour
It’s difficult to make out the fun details that make up our display from so far away, so let’s get a little closer!
In the new garden bed next to the driveway that we added this Spring, you’ll find this guy…
This is one of our very first skeletons. His bones are so brittle from being out in the elements and then locked in the attic that a little more of him crumbles away each year.
This guy greets you as you approach the walkway to the house…
On Halloween night, fog bellows from his mouth at unsuspecting passersby.
These guys are always up to no good…
I went foraging in the treeline behind us to find some down branches I could add this year…
I got lucky! And how fun is the two-headed skeleton?
You may remember I added the window boxes to our porch this Summer.
I love them filled with mums!
They add a touch of class to this skeleton party!
I made that sign several years ago using a mailbox post from the Home Depot.
To the right of the front steps is the cemetery:
No Skelton B&B would be right without one!
And Mama and her baby…
I found that rocker beside the dumpster near our old house many years ago.
The fence around the cemetery came from the garden section at the Home Depot a few years ago…
And that large window to the left of the porch is our dining room. That get’s decked out also, and is all aglow at night!
I’ll be back to share that tomorrow!
Now let’s work our way up onto the porch!
The Butler was the very first Halloween decoration we ever bought.
He was stolen once at our old house, but luckily, we were able to find a replacement.
This year, I treated him to a brand new suit! (Courtesy of the thrift store for only $10!)
And to the right on the porch…
All the candles are on timers and flicker just like the real thing. You can find them HERE. The candleholder was a thrift store find.
And hanging just above, one of these spooky prints from my Pottery Barn Inspired Spooky Mantel I shared WAYYYY back in 2014!
Pottery Barn used to share the printables of these spooky photos back then, but you can find a few similar images if you google “Headless Halloween photos Pottery Barn.”
To the right, you’ll find this gal hard at work. Can you see what she’s doing?
She’s sewing, of course!
Remember that sewing machine table I removed the machine from to turn into a dressing table? The machine looks perfectly at home in my Halloween display!
And another creepy photo. They make the best props!
Just behind this young lady, hanging from the porch is this little man:
The rocker was a thrift store find that had broken apart, so this was a great way to get some use out of it.
At the other end of the porch is this gentleman making himself comfy in my bistro set…
(I pulled those gorgeous chairs off the curb across the street. No shame here!)
There’s a porch swing around the corner and this is the view from it just a few short months ago:
Also on the porch looking out are these guys:
And finally, I thought y’all might get a kick out of this.
We had a spooky creeper looking in our bedroom window which was SUPER creepy from the inside when you weren’t expecting it, except…his head fell off.
Ha ha! It’s still laying on the grass! Not so spooky now.
That’s nothing compared to the life size Santa we had in our Santa’s workshop on the front lawn a few years ago. His head fell off and rolled across the grass after a gust of wind knocked him over. I was on my way home when I was alerted with a text message from our neighbor that read, “SOS, Santa is down. I repeat, SOS, Santa is down!” Ha ha! Luckily I was almost home, and hopefully not too many children were traumatized!
And that is our Outdoor Halloween Decor Tour!
I’ll be back tomorrow with a tour of the inside!
Then I’ll be back closer to Halloween with nighttime version of both the inside and outside, hopefully in video, so you can see it with all the flickering lights!
