Hello dear friends! About this time last year, I created an entire haul that I called my Operation Redo Haul consisting of things that I had brought home from my booth to redo that just hadn’t sold. I redid everything and shared it piece by piece like I do with all my hauls except for one. I realized it just needed a simple repair and had plans to put it back in my shop.
However, fast forward to one year later and it still has not made it back to my shop, so I decided to redo it anyway!
Here are all the pieces that were in that haul:
The pelite table in the front is what is getting a new look today. I’ll link to the other makeovers at the bottom!
Here is how I found this piece originally when I spied it on a local FB group for $15:
And here it is after makeover #1:
White paint, gray wax, and the Lace Belles and Whistles transfer on the top…
A new plan
I painted it in Caviar and let it sit in my garage for two weeks while I stared at it willing the next step to come to me.
*One thing to note is that Dixie Belle’s wax is water-based, so it can be painted right over. Other waxes that are oil-based (they will have a strong smell if they are oil-based) will need to be removed with mineral spirits first.
So I was able to get right to painting!
A new plan for real this time
Then, a plan finally came to me and while I still had my Fluff out from Tuesday’s shelf makeover, I decided to go over the black with that instead:
I pulled it out into the sweet sunshine to help it dry quickly since it was cold last weekend. The cold can delay dry time.
Once the paint was dry, I sanded lightly all over to smooth everything out.
Transfer time
I had two sheets of this Vintage Post transfer left from a recent flatware box makeover:
It comes with four sheets total, but two were enough to cover the top of this table:
All four pieces line up to make one large image.
I burnished it to the surface with the included burnishing tool and then trimmed the edges with a razor blade.
If you haven’t used a transfer before, there isn’t much to it.
- Get an idea of where you want it first. Transfers can be cut apart and combined anyway you like.
- Peel off the white backing.
- Lay it onto your surface.
- Use the enclosed stick (or this fancier tool) to burnish (rub with pressure) to release the image from the clear top sheet onto your surface.
- Once the image has been transferred, peel back the clear top layer and remove.
- Then take your fingers, a clean cloth, or a finishing pad and rub it across the surface to be sure it is adhered well all over.
The Lace transfer that was on here previously did leave a slight texture behind, so using a busy transfer like this almost completely conceals that.
Seal
The last thing to do was seal this little cutie. I used Clear Coat in Satin and applied with my blue applicator sponge:
I have been cutting mine lately so I can get right up against straight edges like the top lip of dressers, etc, but it also makes it even easier to hold:
*NOTE*
I use Clear Coat for most of my furniture projects. It is water resistant and is plenty of protection for most pieces. However, if you want the maximum water repellent protection over a transfer that Gator Hide offers, be sure to apply a coat of Clear Coat first before applying the Gator Hide as the water repellent properties in the Gator Hide can cause the transfers to lift.
I may go back over this with Gator Hide since it may get heavy use.
Finally, this poor thing has made it out of my garage!
There’s not a whole lot to see from the front…
Let’s get in a little closer…
Ah yes…there we go!
This was such a quick and easy makeover!
And here is a peek at the right side unobstructed:
I just love this Vintage Post transfer and how al the pieces flow together!
I always get questions about the clock. That was an awesome Home Goods find and one of the first things I bought for the new house when we moved in back in 2017. Can you believe it has been that long??
I’m so happy to finally have this little table redone and ready for the shop!

Have these pieces sold since their redos?
The hexagon table and the small sign I redid both sold. The drum table I redid ended up in our bedroom. The green table I redid is still in my booth, but I had been using it as part of a paint display. I recently removed out of that display. And the headboard I redid at the back of that photo is on top of my paint shelves. I wanted something pretty to display up there.
My shop is going on Vacation
For my youngest son’s spring break the week after Easter, we will be heading out of town. I am a one-woman show, so my Etsy shop will be on vacation with us!
I’ll be closing the shop at noon on Saturday, April 8th and will reopen the following Friday, so if you’re in need of supplies, get those orders in! I’ll continue to post reminders until then!
Jack’s Spring Break is next week, and he’ll be home tomorrow, so I plan to share a booth update on Tuesday!
UPDATE: See my latest booth update HERE now!
Wishing you all a beautiful weekend!

Christy says
Thanks, Mary! I sure hope so…I’m not bringing it back again ha ha! And yay…yes…always nice to have everyone home! Enjoy your weekend, my friend! XOXO
Jeanne says
Hi Christy,
Nice job. Enjoy vacation.
I was wondering if you’ve ever bought a vanity table to redo? I mean the type with material. Would love to see you do something like that, especially with your sewing skills.
Christy says
Thank you, Jeanne! I’ve done many vanity benches? I don’t believe I’ve seen a table with fabric, but that sounds like an interesting challenge! XOXO
Rebecca says
The table is so cute—much more personality now! So did you paint over the lace transfer? Enjoy that sunshine! Still winter here in Chicago.
Christy says
Thank you, Rebecca! I did…I painted right over it. You could very faintly see the pattern from the original transfer when I painted over it, but the new, busy transfer camouflages that perfectly! My sister is in Wisconsin…so she feels your pain lol! XOXO
Peggy says
So much better. Love the large clock with the small table! 🖤🤍🖤 Black and white is soooo appealing.
Christy says
Thank you, Peggy! I too love black and white…so classic! XOXO
Lola says
I love this little table. I would need something more farmhouse. Do you have any thing?
Christy says
Thank you, Lola! I don’t have anything else similar at this time. XOXO
Lizzy says
It’s beautiful. The transfer you chose is perfect. I bet it sells quickly now.
Christy says
Thank you, Lizzy! I hope so because I’m not bringing it back home again lol! XOXO
Rose Lefebvre says
I love how interesting and delightful this piece is!
Christy says
Thank you, Rose! Hoping for a sale this time! Have a lovely weekend! XOXO

I am new to refinishing and got so excited when I sold 2 pieces. You do beautiful work, both on the pieces and photos and verbal descriptions. While looking at these photos, I kept scrolling to find an angle pic, like a partial side view to see more that might show the any detail on the apron and legs. Everything was straight on or top down. With so many pictures, could you please remember to also include side or angle views? I seem to spend more time looking at pictures and reading about techniques and variables right now for inspiration and you are my favorite. Thank you so very much!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Marie! I too still get excited when I sell a piece! It is motivation to create again for sure! XOXO
Michele M. says
Oooooh! You made it extra awesome! It will surely sell – it is the perfect little table. Love it. And I must say you are just so funny – I actually really laughed out loud about the “rare hubby sighting.” So funny, I am still chuckling. LOL. Thanks for that, too.
Christy says
Thanks, Michele! Ha ha..he does exist!! 😀 XOXO
