Shabby Little Dresser

Hello lovely Friends! I get a LOT of questions about painting furniture. I am always more than happy to answer any questions that come my way, but I thought it was time I put together one helpful post sharing the start-to-finish process of what I do when painting a piece of furniture. That way I can refer any questions to the post, and it can easily be pinned for future reference. I had plans to share that today, but as I was editing photos (I took a ton of pics!), I realized I had way too … [Read more...]

Vintage Cane Club Chair Makeover

Hi Friends! Up for a little furniture redo today?  How about this pretty little cane club chair I picked up recently at the thrift store? I spied it at the Salvation Army on a Thursday for $44, and I really liked it so I asked the gal if they were having any sales any time soon.  She told me that all furniture would be 50% off on Saturday. Luckily it was still there! It ended up being only $22! Woo hoo. Now you might think you already know what fabric I used, right? Not this time. … [Read more...]

Cottage-Inspired Mirror with Shelf from Thrifty Finds

Hello Friends! Today I'm sharing a great upcycle from two items I found recently. First I found this simple shelf at a thrift store: I loved the chunkiness of it and figured for $6 I'd be able to do something with it. Then not long after that, I found this mirror: For ONE WHOLE DOLLAR at a yard sale. Yes, I'll have that, thank you! When I was playing around in my workshop/studio...okay the garage...I spotted these two getting cozy in a corner and had an idea to marry the … [Read more...]

Antique Folding Sewing Table

Hi Friends! A few weekends ago, I had a fantastic yard sale day that looked a little something like this: One of the yard sales I almost didn't stop at was one held by a paint supply distributor! What are the chances?? There really wasn't much to see from the street, but I saw stacks of blue tape and that's what made me get out to look. Look at the goodies I scored! The tape was a painter's tape that I hadn't heard of before, but he was selling it for $1 a roll, so I didn't have … [Read more...]

Fabric Inlaid Mirror

Are you up for a thrifty makeover today? Well I hope so because that's exactly what I'm sharing! I found this very dated mirror for $8 at the thrift store a few weeks back: Immediately when I saw it, I imagined fabric in the panel on top. First I removed the mirror and painted the frame in DIY chalk paint in Cottage White by Behr. Bye bye ugly mirror! I gave it three coats, then sanded the edges a bit. Then I sealed it with Minwax paste wax. This was my first time using … [Read more...]

$60 Yard Sale Hutch

Hello lovely people! I hope you had a fun, sun-filled weekend! My youngest was sick so ours was very low key. It did allow me to put the finishing touches on this fantastic hutch I'm sharing with you today though! A few weeks back we had our annual neighborhood yard sale. I left my Mom in charge at ours so I could take a quick ride through the neighborhood to scout out any goodies when I came across this beauty: For $60!! Yes, please! I also picked up a great console table for $10 at the … [Read more...]

The Rest of the Oak Bedroom Set

Welcome to day #24 of this wild and crazy March Madness series! Can you believe I've we've made it this far? I'm so excited to share the rest of my parent's bedroom set today. Yesterday I shared the piece with the prettiest and most unexpected results, my Mom's dresser: The bright new paint job and the addition of the feet made such a difference in the whole style of this piece. The hardware didn't hurt either. And you didn't even notice the pretty curves at the bottom before. So … [Read more...]

Oak Dresser Makeover

Hi friends! Welcome to day #23 of my March Madness, 31 Thrifty Makeovers in 31 Days series! Today I'm excited to be sharing part of my parent's surprise bedroom set makeover. It's an oak set that they've had for as long as I can remember. My Mom has been trying to sweet talk me into painting this set for the better part of the last year. Of course I would do anything for my Mom, but this set was going to take time, and it just never seemed to be the right time. Then a couple of … [Read more...]

Sewing Cabinet Side Table

Woohoo day #5! Are you enjoying March Madness so far? I hope so because I sure am! Today's thrift store deal was this sewing cabinet that I picked up for $9.95. It has definitely seen better days: The top folds out to the side to reveal a work table and a space for a sewing machine. I love sewing tables as side tables because they are a great height. Here is her makeover: Paint is like magic in a can! I sanded this a bit more than I usually do because this was a … [Read more...]
